Ubuntu icon
[edit]I reverted back to the PNG version. The SVG version scales improperly in 50x50 px (the heads look REALLY big). Plus, the colors are the same as the ones in the copyrighted Ubuntu logo; my PNG version purposefully avoids this (though, I admit, at the expense of aesthetics; that red is awful). Also, your logo's heads are on the outside like Canonical's. I'm not saying you must move the heads inside like I did but still do some more things to avoid copyright infringement. I think consistent SVG Ubuntu/Xubuntu/Goobuntu/etc. logos would be good, but make sure the copyright police don't get mad. My PNG version got accused of being a copyright violation. I think my rebuttal is on the image's talk page. It could come in handy when making copy-safe SVG Ubuntu icons.
Also, if you decide to convert my images to SVG without modification, they must be placed in the public domain as per Bridgeman_Art_Library_v._Corel_Corp. ;)

- That's fine. I placed my copyright rationale on the userbox talk page, in accordance with your doing so. I recognize that the colors are largely the same, but I believe that I threw in one or two others. I'll work on modifying them from Canonical's some more. --Linus(contact me) 03:35, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Supersymmetry
[edit]Hi Linus: I did give the SuSy article a pretty thorough going-over back in February, but since I am not an expert in the field, I don't consider that to be "attention from an expert". From what I can see, the article is in reasonably good shape right now. -- Xerxes 14:28, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Top quark
[edit]That information is correct; the top quark does not hadronize. This fact was first noted in the paper Production and decay properties of ultra-heavy quarks by Bigi, et al. in 1986. They say:
- If the lifetimes [of ultra-heavy quarks] become much shorter than the typical strong interaction time scale ΛQCD−1 ~ 10−23 s, then open-flavor hadrons and quarkonium bound states cannot be formed any more.

There is currently a vote on the Higgs boson talk page over whether or not to merge the pop culture references article with the main article. I noticed you've previously contributed to the debate, so your vote would be helpful in establishing a consensus (or, perhaps, a vote of "no consensus", in which case the problem will be referred to AfD). - No problem. BTW, I'm glad to see WP:WPFS doing well. It's a necessary project but I never had the time to try starting it myself. I still don't have time to join, as I'm trying to get Portal:Free software to featured status right now, but I'm trying to help WPFS by mentioning it on the portal and on some talk pages relevent to free software. It still hasn't gained enough momentum whereby it would be self sustaining if the current contributors took a break, but hopefully it will get there. (I'm not sure that Portal:Free_software has gotten to that point yet either.) Good luck. Gronky 21:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Conservapedia refugees
[edit]Hey, if you ever feel the need to commiserate with other refugees from conservapedia we have set up a little space on the internet so we can share in our common frustration. Most of the more intelligent and rational editors have come on by, if no one has passed the link on to you I would love it if you would come by and offer your perspective. There are several active editors that don't really want to be "outed" yet so I avoid posting the link to pubicly accessible spots because a few of the SYSOPS have shown a propensity for trolling user pages on wikipedia looking for dirt. E-mail me at touloutm@mcmaster.ca and I will pass the link on directly. Tmtoulouse 17:19, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Safari RSS 2.0.4.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Safari RSS 2.0.4.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 13:30, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Motto of the day
[edit]Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.
When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.
If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:24, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 14:46, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014
[edit]→ Revolution is a successful effort to get rid of a bad government and set up a worse.
Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.
Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).
Quixotic plea

Speedy deletion nomination of @home
[edit]Hello Linus M.,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged @home for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 13:22, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File source problem with File:Computing Barnstar.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Computing Barnstar.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 16:16, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
