Thanks for uploading Image:121132.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:121134.jpg. The copy called Image:121134.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Fair use rationale for Image:ThatsRight jpgsso.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ThatsRight jpgsso.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Are you Jayjay47 and Diamondfan07?

[edit]

Those usernames were used by someone who has been blocked from editing for refusing to abide by Wikipedia's rules about using copyrighted images. Your account was created shortly after this user was blocked, and you've been editing many of the same articles, in similar ways. For these reasons, I suspect that you are the same user. You have also edited some other articles, however, so I don't want to make assumptions.

Either way, please read the messages you've been given above about images you've uploaded. You must give a fair use rationale for all copyrighted images used. An example of a fair use rationale can be found at this image.

If you review the fair use guidelines, only use copyrighted images when it's legal to, and post a fair use rationale with each one that explains why, it's okay to keep uploading images. If you keep uploading copyrighted images with no fair use rationale, however, your account will be blocked like the ones I mentioned earlier.

If you are indeed the same person, they please stop creating new accounts – they will all be blocked for your refusal to follow the rules. If you are not the same person, then please learn from his mistakes and accept my apology for sounding so harsh. --Icarus (Hi!) 02:22, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. If you add a copyrighted image to an article one more time without a fair use rationale, like you did for Diamond (rapper)‎, that will be taken as evidence that you are indeed this banned vandal, and you too will be banned. --Icarus (Hi!) 22:49, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Bitch Muzik Vol.2, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Bitch Muzik Vol.2

[edit]

An editor has nominated Bitch Muzik Vol.2, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bitch Muzik Vol.2 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:59, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your image uploads

[edit]

When you upload album covers, you have to give a fair use rationale for each image. It's not enough to just give the license. For an example of a fair use rationale, see Image:Rkellychocolatefactory.jpg. To make it easier, just copy the this code (taken from Template:Album cover fur) to your uploads:

{{album cover fur
|Article =
|Use = Infobox
|Name =
|Artist =
|Label =
|Source =
}}

You've been blocked about this under your old accounts. If you continue re-uploading the same images without rationales, you will be blocked. If you have any questions about this, just leave a message. Thanks. Spellcast (talk) 08:17, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LAST WARNING

[edit]

This is your last warning. We have been more than patient with you. You've been told probably more than a dozen times, on this and other accounts, that you must provide a fair use rationale for every copyrighted image you add to an article. You've been given two examples of what this means on this very talk page, once my myself and once by Spellcast. Yet just a couple of minutes ago, you re-added copyrighted images that I'd just removed! If you add a copyrighted image to an article one more time, without providing a fair use rationale, you will be reported as a vandal. You've already been permanently blocked under other usernames. Why won't you just follow the rules? --Icarus (Hi!) 21:21, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

when can i come back on —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lilwaynefan08 (talkcontribs) 18:57, 8 January 2008
You have not been blocked yet. If you stop uploading copyrighted images without a fair use rationale, and stop inserting them into articles, then you will not be blocked, However, if you do continue this behavior, then you will be blocked permanently. You will never be allowed to edit again, and any new accounts you create will also be blocked permanently. Creating a new account to keep editing after you've been blocked is against the rules. If you want to be allowed to keep editing Wikipedia, you must stop your misbehavior immediately. --Icarus (Hi!) 23:08, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrights

[edit]

How do i know it copy righted —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lilwaynefan08 (talkcontribs) 22:12, 8 January 2008

All material is automatically copyrighted by the person who creates it. In some situations, like when an artist makes artwork for a company (like a CD cover, for instance), the artist sells the copyright to that company. Then the company owns the copyright. Usually, the only ways a work becomes non-copyrighted is if the owner of the copyright intentionally says that's it's not copyrighted anymore, or if the owner has died a long time ago.
If you create something yourself (not just making a few changes to someone else's work) then you own the copyright, and you can choose to release it to the public domain. Otherwise, if you are not certain that the owner has released it, you have to show that it's "fair use". That means that you're admitting that someone else owns the copyright, but you can explain why it's still fair to use it according to the law.
For a copyrighted image on Wikipedia to be fair use, it has to meet several criteria. It has to be something that cannot be replaced with a free (non-copyrighted) image. That's why it's fair use to use pictures of CD covers (as long as a rationale is given) since there's no way to use another picture, but it's not fair use to use a picture of a celebrity from a website or a magazine if someone else has a picture they took themself, and have decided to make free. It can also only be used in an article about the subject of a picture (for example, CD covers can only be used in articles about the CD itself) and must be low-resolution. That means that the picture has to be too small for someone to print out and use to make a fake poster or CD cover.
There are some more specific details about what a fair-use rationale has to explain. You can get more information at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline that will help you know when a copyrighted image can be used as fair use, and how to put a rationale in the image's description. I'm glad that you're interested in learning how to be responsible about using images. --Icarus (Hi!) 02:35, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's the thing... you can't. The picture belongs to someone else, so we can't legally use it here. Caknuck (talk) 15:05, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

tell me if this copy righted [2]then can you tell me how to put it on there right

EVERYTHING is copyrighted, with very few exceptions. Unless you yourself took the photo, or you know that the person who did take it released the rights, then it is copyrighted. See Wikipedia:Non-free content to learn about when it's okay to use a copyrighted image (it must ALWAYS have a fair use rationale in these cases) and when it is not okay. The kind of picture you've been uploading of music stars is one of the kinds that's not okay. --Icarus (Hi!) 01:27, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Zaassa.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zaassa.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mdsummermsw (talk) 14:54, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Zaassa.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zaassa.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:27, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

do this mean i can use it

The message above was left by a bot, not an actual person. It's programmed to leave this message on the talk page of anyone who has uploaded an image that is tagged as fair use, but is not used in an article. Because it's only a program and not a person, it cannot look at the image to see if it can be used fairly or not. In this case, I do not think that it can be used. If you want, you can go to Wikipedia:Media copyright questions and ask, since someone there might know the exact rules better than I do. If you ask there, you should write the name of the image like this: [[:Image:D&pwe.jpg]]. That way they will know what image you are asking about, but putting the : at the beginning makes it a link instead of the actual image.
Also, it would be helpful if you sign your posts on talk pages. You can do that by typing --~~~~. When you save the page, the ~~~~ will automatically be changed into your username and the time you saved the page. --Icarus (Hi!) 21:23, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use for CD covers

[edit]

You recently added images of CD covers to Crime Mob, Princess (rapper, and Diamond (rapper). While these images are tagged as fair use, they are only fair use in the articles about the CDs themselves. They are not fair use in any other articles. Do not add them to these articles again. --Icarus (Hi!) 05:41, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How Fair use rationale for People ?

Did you ever go back to see the answer to your question at WP:MCQ? Sarcasticidealist left an answer that explains part of this. Click here to see your question and the answer that Sarcasticidelist left.
I'm glad that you're interested in learning how to use images properly. However, you must also stop uploading pictures that we cannot use. All of the images that you've uploaded recently are copyrighted, and only a couple of them have any possibility of being kept as fair use images (specifically, we can keep the CD covers, but only for use in the articles about the CDs). I know that you're trying to learn, but it would probably be best if you stop uploading images for now until you are sure you understand which images are okay to upload and which aren't. --Icarus (Hi!) 23:00, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Stop adding such images to articles, too! Other editors and I are trying to be patient to help you learn how to use images responsibly, instead of just banning this account as your previous ones have been banned. Do not take advantage of this by continuing the same behavior that you have been warned against many times. This edit you just did is exactly the kind of thing you must stop doing, as that image is copyrighted and does not qualify for a fair use claim! --Icarus (Hi!) 02:31, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:02-crime-mob-082707.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:02-crime-mob-082707.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:985181 150x100.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:985181 150x100.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:17, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

why i tried doing fair use i thought it was right so i think it is unfair. tell me how to do fair use of an image. i still think the block should be lifted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lilwaynefan08 (talkcontribs)

The very last one is an example: you uploaded the file without giving any real fair use rationale for it. You have to learn not to simply upload files willy nilly and claim fair use -- without explaining how it is fair use. --Nlu (talk) 17:15, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have already been given multiples examples of good fair use rationales. You have also already been told multiple times why most of the images you've uploaded cannot be used at all. You've been given many links to Wikipedia pages explaining all of this. If you want to learn, scrolling through this very talk page and re-reading what people have been trying to tell you would be a good place to start. --Icarus (Hi!) 23:25, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tips for image uploads

[edit]

Since you were recently blocked from editing, but are now doing the same thing you were blocked for, I want to explain to you very clearly what you need to do if you want to avoid being permanently banned.

  1. Make sure that the image isn't copyrighted, or can be used under the "fair use" laws
    1. All images are copyrighted when they are created. You can only make something not copyrighted if you created it, or bought the rights from the person who created it. If an image doesn't say if it's copyrighted or not, then assume that it is.
    2. Wikipedia:Non-free content tells you what copyrighted images we can use, and which we cannot use
    3. Of the kinds of pictures you've uploaded, CD covers are fair use, but pictures of celebrities are not (because they could be replaced with something that wasn't copyrighted, if someone took their own picture of the person and decided to make it not copyrighted anymore)
  2. If the image is too big, you have to make it smaller
    1. You can use an image editing program to make it smaller. Make sure it is no bigger than this image: Image:HOMCM.jpg
    2. If you cannot make the image smaller, put this in the image's description page {{Non-free reduce}} and someone will help by making it smaller for you
  3. Give the image a descriptive name
    1. If the name is just a lot of numbers, it's hard to remember. Give it a name that tells a little bit about what it is.
    2. For a CD cover, you can name it the same thing as the CD name, just without spaces or punctuation
  4. Provide a fair use rationale for any and all copyrighted images you upload
    1. Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline has information on this
    2. Image:Rkellychocolatefactory.jpg has an excellent fair use rationale. You can make one just like it by copying the text in the box that Spellcast left in this comment and filling in the information
    3. Image:121132.jpg has a fair use rationale that isn't as detailed, but is good enough if the previous one is too confusing.

Those are the basics of using images correctly. One more thing you should do is to type ~~~~ after comments you leave here, or on any other talk page. That will leave a signature that tells us who left the comment, and when. --Icarus (Hi!) 00:17, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Bitch Muzik (album)

[edit]

An editor has nominated Bitch Muzik (album), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bitch Muzik (album) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 14:44, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It a real cd I have it cause i left Link It also on youtube.com so it should not be deleted
Yeah, it is a "real" CD. That is not the issue.
Per WP:MUSIC, "...albums or songs must meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines. In general, if the musician... is considered notable, then officially released albums may have sufficient notability.... Demos, mixtapes, bootlegs and promo-only records are in general not notable; unreleased albums may not yet be notable without substantial coverage from reliable sources."
The article does not assert notability and lacks "substantial coverage from reliable sources." That was the reason for the first deletion.
This deletion is for Speedy G4: "Recreation of deleted material. A copy, by any title, of a page deleted via a deletion discussion, provided the copy is substantially identical to the deleted version and that any changes in the recreated page do not address the reasons for which the material was deleted."
When an article is deleted, there is a reason. Putting the article back up without addressing that reason is a bad idea. If, after it's deleted this time you recreate it again, I'll move to have you (and any sockpuppet accounts) blocked.
Mdsummermsw (talk) 13:19, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Incidentally, as the tag indicates, you should be taking up the issue at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Bitch_Muzik_(album). Discussing it anywhere else will not save the article.

So if i give you links i can keep it

Not merely "links". "Significant coverage in reliable sources". - Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Articles should rely on reliable, third-party published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy....In general, the most reliable sources are peer-reviewed journals and books published in university presses; university-level textbooks; magazines, journals, and books published by respected publishing houses; and mainstream newspapers. As a rule of thumb, the greater the degree of scrutiny involved in checking facts, analyzing legal issues, and scrutinizing the evidence and arguments of a particular work, the more reliable it is."
These are not reliable sources. They have no reputation for fact-checking and accuracy and can be "published" by anyone with access to a computer. The "degree of scrutiny" exhibited by a posting on myspace is close to zero.

Diamond (rapper)

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Diamond (rapper), is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add your reference to the article. Thank you. - 16:52, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Diamond (rapper). I have just reverted your edits.
  • Youtube is not a reliable source.
  • As the comment you ignored under External links makes clear, youtube and myspace are not appropriate, per WP:EL.
  • The image, used in that context, is replacable and not fair use.

Final warning re copyrighted images

[edit]

You have been repeatedly warned. Images from various sources on the internet are not suitable for use on wikipedia, except under very specific circumstances.

Uploading images and adding the warning to the image page yourself does not absolve you of this. In fact, it makes it fairly clear that you are aware the image in question should not be used.

Images of album covers, screen shots etc. are not acceptable under fair use for any purpose other than to specifically identify the album or video. Using them as images of the artist is specifically not allowed. If you are not sure if an image is allowable, ask about it before you upload it. Given all of the previous warnings you certainly should know this by now.

If you simply do not understand this, stop uploading images altogether.

Whether your behavior is a result of not understanding or choosing to ignore the warnings is irrelivant. Further violations will result in a longer term block.
