Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Lili + Mila's Empawrium
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Lili + Mila's Empawrium, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Fine with my own name

[edit]I have spent the last few hours adding facts to the Land of Green Ginger page and tried to create a new page for Lili + Mila's Empawrium (a destination location). While my shop is a shop this is not an advertisement it is to add facts about the business and the filming location.
All of my work has been totally undone in the click of a button. The Land of Green Ginger had a photo of a hairdressers on it (our current location) so we updated this. We also added really interesting history about its role in filming sets. This is now all lost unless it can be retrieved from your side.
I have had three rejections, my name, my posts and now being blocked. I am not sure if these comments are going anywhere but please can someone review and understand the aim is to educate. Liliandmila (talk) 13:39, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Unfortunately you've managed to raise just about every red flag there is, hence why you're finding it such tough going. Let me explain where it went wrong, in case you manage to get yourself unblocked.
- Firstly, if you're going to write about your business... don't. It is very difficult, if not indeed impossible, for any of us to write in a purely neutral, non-promotional manner about something close to us.
- If you're still going to go ahead, the first thing you must do is disclose your conflict of interest, see WP:COI and WP:PAID.
- You also shouldn't pick a username which suggests clear connection with the business you're writing about.
- Any sort of promotion is not allowed on Wikipedia. And before you say "I wasn't promoting anything", well... yes, you were. You were telling the world about your business, and that is pretty much the definition of promotion, see WP:YESPROMO.
- We have no interest in what you want to say about your business. We only want to hear what independent and reliable secondary sources (newspapers, magazines, TV and radio programmes, etc.) have said about your business, without any enticement or prompting by you. Therefore the way to compose a Wikipedia article is to start by finding a few (3-5) sources that meet the WP:GNG standard for notability, summarise their coverage, and cite them as sources against the information they have provided.
- Notability is a core requirement for inclusion in the encyclopaedia. So much so that if you cannot find sufficient sources meeting the GNG standard, then you cannot summarise them, and cannot therefore write an article.
- And even if such sources do exist, it shouldn't be you writing about your business; it should be someone with no connection to you or the business, ideally without you even knowing about this.

- Hi Double Grazing, Thank you for your message. I have submitted a change of name to Lisa Marie Hall. In terms of disclosing a potential conflict of interest I would simply used the following template {{connected contributor}}. I think adding my text about my business has caused a major issue and while it was not intended to promote I can see why in even mentioning that is promoting it. I understand my business is of no interest and that will not be added. I had zero sources in my original submission which is why I have been crucified. I have 3-5 sources that meet the WP:GNG standards for the film information which is what I had added. I have spoken to the help desk and they have advised the format would be as follows; Hull has been the filming location for movies such as <movie 1>[citation] and <movie 2>[citation]. The information provided was added without citation. I can see where I went wrong. Liliandmila (talk) 15:01, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- I now realise I forgot to say another thing: stick to the topic. If your draft is about your business, then only talk about your business, not Hull more generally, or even about the street where your shop is located, because those are different topics. You can probably find newspaper articles etc. about Hull as a filming location, but that won't help make your shop notable if those articles mention the shop only in passing or not at all. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:10, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. I understand. I have submitted a name change request are you able to approve this? Liliandmila (talk) 16:38, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
