Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Lihaochang666 and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:01, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Waxworker. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Na Ying, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 08:27, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'll also add that edits that have been undone, such as this, cannot be counted for class credit. You can restore this content, with sources. Please see WP:V. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:54, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Heze. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 12:01, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Li Zhixuan

[edit]

Hi, could you please check whether the content in the article Li Zhixuan is in the right place? It now appears to have details about both a female long-distance runner and a male artist? If he's notable for his own artice then you may need to move the content to a new article (see, e.g., Wikipedia:Article wizard). I'm happy to answer any questions if you have any. Thanks, Simeon (talk) 17:51, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, for now, I have reverted the article back to the version about the athlete - you can find the version with your content here if you wish to reuse it for another article. Thanks, Simeon (talk) 12:18, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please add references to the content you've added. The history section is valuable but requires referencing. I've shortened your addition about shopping which was in the wrong place (it should be under economy) and half of it was was written in marketing language, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Stephy Qi, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Waxworker (talk) 11:29, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hiya! I've had to unfortunately remove a decent chunk of your edits to articles. This includes Wang Xun and Bing Xin.

However, I do believe that the edits could be quite easily restored with minimal effort, as with a lot of your other edits that were previously removed.

One of the most important content policies that we have is WP:Verifiability, meaning that articles should have citations and references that support the content in the article so that other people using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source. Your edits on Wang Xun (actor), while probably true, is not supported by any source. It could also do with better integration with the body of the article, the lead is supposed to be a summary of the body and should not contain information not in the body of the article.

I saved what I could easily fix in the article for Bing Xin, but removed some sections that I found confusing. Same thing with the above, verifiability is key, but also be a bit more careful and make sure that the content makes sense before you publish. WP:Referencing for beginners might help!

英文维基百科需要更多懂中文的维基人。你编辑和感兴趣的条目在这里很不常见,这种特殊性帮助这个百科全书扩充常常被忽略的条目。我希望你会在你的课结束之后在这里继续编辑 :D

English Wikipedia needs more wikipedians who knows Chinese. You edit topics most people ignore. This helps the encyclopedia expand usually neglected articles. I hope that you'd continue to edit after your class.

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 17:18, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23 Did you notice this is a student? As the suprevising instructor I'd ask for the student to be unblocked after they reply to comments above from myself and others (which unfortunately it seems they have ignored so far), where they have been repeatedly asked to add references to their edits. Once the student promises to add referenced content only (something that is required in our syllabus as unreferenced content does not generate credit), there should be no reason to block their account, right? Courtesy ping @Justiyaya, @Waxworker, @Simeon - I appreciate you providing feedback to my student and I apologize that it has not been acted upon until now. I'll wait for the user to speak.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:05, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23 Thanks, that's pretty much what should happen next. And if they don't speak, well :( Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:50, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very sorry because I just learned this wiki not long ago. But I really hope to become a qualified writer. I will correct the articles I have problems with. Please give me some advice. Also because they are foreigners. It is also very distressing if there are problems with translation. Please give me more chances. Thanks for your hard work. Lihaochang666 (talk) 04:44, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23 Ping. Also, Lihaochang666, as you are learning wiki interface, please try to use the unblock template as suggest above in the informational template, to speed things up. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:04, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your suggestion. I'm sorry for the mistakes I made. offer an apology Lihaochang666 (talk) 05:12, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lihaochang666, I think if might be a lot easier if you'd complete your assignment on Chinese Wikipedia if the course you are working for allows it and if it is not too close to the course ending.
I think most of Lihanchang's edits seem to be in good faith, they just didn't really respond to any of the attempts at communication :/ Justiyaya 06:29, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Because destructive editing was blocked, maybe it was a translation issue, and it was changed the second time I had the problem. I think the number was a map number, or I forgot it. I wish I could be given a chance.

Decline reason:

This request doesn't make much sense. I think it's better if you contribute to the Chinese language Wikipedia. PhilKnight (talk) 16:40, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Lihaochang, your unblock request is incomprehensible. In addition, please don't e-mail me again - it's unnecessary - whatever you wish to say can be said here. Your e-mail says, among other things, "I just want to promote my hometown". Wikipedia is not a platform to "promote" anything. Putting aside the general disruptive nature of your edits here, I deleted 齐鲁文化 short story, which you created in the last edit before I blocked you, per WP:G3 (vandalism). I suspect it was more incompetence than vandalism, but I really don't see why you should be unblocked. Students should contribute to the project, but even if they using the encyclopedia only for their own benefit, they should not damage the project.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:49, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The Qilu Culture novel was written by me in my other Qilu Culture because I wanted to briefly describe it. After I realized I was wrong. I want to delete him. It seems I made a mistake. I thought the sandbox could be edited at will. Secondly, my intention is not to promote, I just want to introduce. I may be a little fuzzy on this definition. I'm deeply sorry.
I didn't break anything. I'm just a student. I just hope to enrich my hometown while completing my homework. I know I broke the rules. But I have no intention of disrupting the larger environment of Wikipedia. I accept your punishment for me. I just want to say this:
1. I realize my mistake.
2. I have no intention of damaging the wiki.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Lihaochang666 (talk) 15:00, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I never accused you of intentionally damaging Wikipedia. The problem is you can disrupt Wikipedia without intending to. Nor did I block you for edits to your sandbox. Frankly, I didn't even look at them - until just now because you mentioned it. The part about the Qilu Culture I don't understand at all. I don't think you should be editing here. Any skills you wish to learn about editing Wikimedia projects can be done at zh.wiki.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:11, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your patient answers to me. I still want to apologize for the inconvenience and trouble I have caused you during this period. I will study the wiki again privately. I will contribute to the wiki if I get the chance in the future. Lihaochang666 (talk) 15:15, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Lihaochang666. Having read your messages here, I think it will be indeed best if you focus on contributing in languages you are presumably fluent in, like Chinese. Your English messages above are often difficult to understand, and this is related to one of the problems with your attempts to contribute to English Wikipedia (the other being mentioned lack of references). For our class, you will receive some credit for your contributions to Wikipedia, per syllabus, and for extra credit you can contribute to Chinese Wikipedia. I recommend that you try to improve your English-language skills if you intend to take more English-language classe or contribute to English-language communities like Wikipedia. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:55, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice, professor, it helped me a lot. I really need to try my best to improve my English. I will edit the Chinese wiki. I will write two articles and send them to your email. I hope I can add points and make up for it. Lihaochang666 (talk) 06:57, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is no need to send anything by email. Just focus on making constructive edits at Chinese Wikipedia for now. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:02, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello professor. I found another article in the syllabus. He needs to expand on Chinese. I added text, links and quotes. Completed please check. Lihaochang666 (talk) 08:34, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lihaochang666 Good. You can keep translating content from English to Chinese for extra credit. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:11, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
professor. I understand. I'm looking for another English to Chinese translation from the syllabus. Thank you for your suggestion. Lihaochang666 (talk) 12:07, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have completed the translation from English to Chinese. Check, please. I will also make changes later. Lihaochang666 (talk) 13:45, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good, although I see there are some concerns about quality of translation. I see you already tried to address them. Good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:55, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
