hi!

May 2011

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (LiamKeaneDotCom) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Neither apply to me, I believe. The material I am contributing is not a conflict of interest. I do not claim to represent a group of people. Thanks! LiamKeaneDotCom (talk) 01:19, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the confusion. On close examination of your website and the WHOIS information for it, it clearly represents only you. It's just that normally, those who register under a website name are representing a group, or using a "role" account, and I patrol recent contributions looking out for that kind of thing.
On another note, you make some comments on User:LiamKeaneDotCom regarding attribution and licensing of your contributions. I do not believe that we can modify the attribution and licensing in this way. All edit windows come with the standard disclaimer, By clicking the "Save Page" button, you agree to the Terms of Use, and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. You agree that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient attribution under the Creative Commons license. This explicitly disallows your request for attribution to LiamKeane.com, and implicitly places you in the land of CC-BY-SA rather than PD. Hope this helps. Thanks! Sure, I understand. About the licensing: is it possible to dual license CCZero with CCBYSA? I don't have a problem with CCBYSA and don't need attribution in any way. But I'd like to use CCZero for text contributions. It appears it might only be for original images/files. Hmm.. Also, totally unrelated, but if youre monitoring your messages, any chance you could do me a favor and make this edit request reality? (I'm not yet autoconfirmed). That'd be swell :) LiamKeaneDotCom (talk) 01:44, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I completed your edit request. I am not a copyright lawyer or genius, so I am unsure how to answer that question. Does Wikipedia:Copyright FAQ#Public domain help at all? Or, try this search in the noticeboard WP:Media copyright questions. Or just ask your question there anew. Elizium23 (talk) 02:02, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
