Use of edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! A tag has been placed on File:V. K. Sasikala.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. – Train2104 (t • c) 11:35, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not upload images under false licenses, as you did at File:V. K. Sasikala.jpg. Just because you find the image on a publicly-viewable website doesn't mean that that it's under public domain (which refers to copyright-free images). Have a look at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright to learn more about copyright. utcursch | talk 02:16, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, please do not lift images from news websites like The Hindu and Deccan Chronicle and post them on Wikipedia as "public domain". The latest image uploaded by you (File:Sasikala Natarajan.jpeg) is copyrighted by Deccan Chronicle. Just because it is publicly viewable on their website does not make it "public domain" -- that's not what "public domain" means in this context. Please go thorugh the FAQ link above. utcursch | talk 02:32, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to V. K. Sasikala has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. utcursch | talk 03:30, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your latest image, from The Times of India website, is copyrighted, just like your earlier images from The Hindu and Deccan Chronicle websites. If you continue to upload copyright images under fake licenses, you will be blocked. utcursch | talk 03:31, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ennarugil Nee Irundhaal (TV series), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tamil (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for Block evasion, likely Jaswanthvijay, CU confirmed to Vimalraj Selvakumar.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  —SpacemanSpiff 18:45, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Sir, my previous account Li wei ran is blocked in Tamil Wikipedia for 6 months. So I create a new account Vimalraj Selvakumar to edit in Tamil Wikipedia. I know its a violation of rules. But 6 months is a long duration. I ask them to unblock. But they don't unblock me. So I continue my contributions on Tamil Wikipedia as Vimalraj Selvakumar. If I did any mistakes or violating rules, kindly forgive me. Thank you, sir. Li wei ran (talk) 01:34, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

The Tamil version of Wikipdia is a separate project; whilst your conduct there is equally deplorable, you are blocked here, on en-wiki, for violations of en-wiki policy. Yunshui  08:26, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Respected Admin, I accept my mistake. Whenever I gets blocked on wikipedia, I try to evading my block by creating new accounts. I had created multiple accounts (sockpuppetry) on wikipedia and violate copyright rules of images. But I did not try to commit any vandalism or disruptive edits on wikipedia. Now I clearly understand my mistake. You blocked me indefinitely from wikipedia. That's a big punishment for me. I cannot able to edit pages on Wikipedia. Recently Tamil Wikipedia appreciates me for my thousandth edit. Hereafter, I shall not violate rules of Wikipedia. User:Li wei ran is my true account forever. I shall not use or create any other accounts in future. So I kindly request you to forgive my mistake and unblock my account. Thank you. Li wei ran (talk) 07:19, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

User:Vimalraj Selvakumar was your "true account" only yesterday, and I told you there to stay away for at least the six months suggested by the WP:STANDARDOFFER with no further socking. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:54, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've revoked talk page access as you're continuing to sock, the last one I blocked less than four hours ago! And just posting frivolous unblock requests on all sock pages. I'll however let another admin decide on the unblock request. —SpacemanSpiff 07:43, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
