[edit]Hello Lestafford, and welcome to Wikipedia. You really only need to contact the administrator who deleted an article if you're planning to put it back - although if an article has been deleted for lack of notability and especially after a deletion debate, it's always a good idea. In this case, all you have to do is create an article that does not violate our copyright policies, and you'll be in great shape. :)
I'll just run briefly through our policies.
- First, you can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
Beyond copyright, the important things to keep in mind in creating a new article is that you must use good sources to verify your information - sources like newspaper articles, magazines, books, reliable industry websites, etc. are preferred. You can read more about sourcing at WP:IRS. These sources will also serve to verify that the article subject meets the notability guideline. Generally, the more the better.
You also need to be sure to stay neutral. If there's praise or criticism, it needs to be attributed to a reliable source. It also needs to be presented in due weight. If one source says a movie's terrible and everybody else likes it, we have to reflect that in our articles. Not sure how the critics feel about Jean Lau Chin. :D
I really recommend a read through Wikipedia:Your first article. It can help you avoid some newbie mistakes that might get your article deleted.
If you need guidance, a good place to get it is the Wikipedia:Teahouse. You're also welcome to stop by my page if you have questions, although I'm probably not going to be able to answer you as quickly as they are. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:33, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Laura Brown (September 2)
[edit]First, there is not sufficient indication of notability according to WP:GNG or WP:PROF. Second, this is not written in the formal style expected of an encyclopedia. Third, it is essentially an advertisement for her.
- Do not resubmit unless you can meet the established standard, and completely rewrite the article
- If you need any assistance, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk or on the reviewer's talk page.
- You can also get real-time chat help from experienced editors.

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Laura Brown
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Laura Brown, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It is a rejected submission at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, and it has not been edited in over six months. (See section G13 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
