The Asiatic lion's size
[edit]Hi, I think that you put in some valid references, but there appeared to be something wrong in the way that you posted it. Remember, old records can be flawed, like I mentioned for the sizes of lions and tigers. Leo1pard (talk) 16:20, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
This obviously is a subject about which you care deeply, but I can't actually tell what point you're trying to make due to the extreme volume of comments. Please start again, limiting your comments to two paragraphs of three or four sentences, in which you present your concise argument according to no more than three major sources (none of them Guinness). Before doing so, please read WP:BLUDGEON, and avoid arguments or sources that speculate on things involving skulls, tails or whatever extrapolated body part has been selected - weight, directly measured, is about all that matters. You've overwhelmed the talkpage with what you've been posting.
Please understand that there is a history of enthusiastic arguments about lions vs. tigers, tigers, vs. bears, etc. that have become downright silly, and which most other editors find tiresome. Some of these arguments have led to editing restrictions. Let's keep it short and simple. Acroterion (talk) 16:24, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
- Please do not copy copyrighted text into Wikipedia, not even on talkpages. You did not do what I asked you to do. You will need peer-reviewed academic references that show a broad academic consensus, not selected publications that are primarily concerned with other tiger/lion-related matters, which focus specifically on the subject at hand. The item you referenced simply speculated in a general way as part of a larger discussion of conservation issues. Wikipedia reflects consensus of academic sources. At best right now there might be room to insert one or two qualifying words into the size discussion. Acroterion (talk) 11:48, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
I think that the best place to put all the arguments on the issue of whether the tiger is bigger than the lion, or vice-versa, is here, since that article is partly about it. As it is, I [already mentioned] in this section of the article what is complicated about it, to an extent, though I do intend to to more for that. Leo1pard (talk) 04:19, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
And let me make a clarification. For instance, just because I [did this], that doesn't mean that this is my personal opinion. I'm just putting in what the references say, like I did in Tiger versus lion. Leo1pard (talk) 04:22, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
If you were to have WP:reliable references (I'd say plenty of them, not only a few, so that this isn't even a WP:minority opinion) in Wikipedia about a lion being heavier or larger than Hassinger's Bengal tiger in the wilderness, or Jaipur the Siberian tiger in captivity, then that would be a game-changer for articles that talk about the physical comparison of lions and tigers, such as Lion and Big cat. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. - Please do not add questions in the wrong position on Talk:Acroterion. It has been reverted. Your query has been fully answered above and you should carefully note the contents. Thank you, David J Johnson (talk) 12:01, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- Actually it was my userpage, not my talkpage. Once again, you may not copy passages from books into Wikipedia - that is copyrighted content, which is incompatible with Wkipedia's copyleft protocol. Summarize and note the source, and see my previous note farther up the page. You appear to be trying to cherry-pick speculative sources to support your personal thesis that lions are bigger than tigers. Wikipedia represents mainstream academic views - please provide concise references to a broad academic consensus in peer-reviewed literature, if that exists. Some gentle advice
[edit]Since you seem to be getting the wrong idea concerning Wikipedia and other editors, there are a few thjings I'd like to suggest:
- You are attempting to make the facts fit your views, or are attempting to frame the encyclopedia article by selecting a very narrow set of references that fit your opinions.
- I'm an administrator here on Wikipedia, and I see a problem with your conduct, and with your posting of massive walls of text on talkpages without listening to advice from other editors.
- You're getting opposition from other editors because your editing emphasis and conduct are not in line with Wikipedia policy. That's why I've been looking at your edits.
- Wikipedia isn't a place to establish a fact. Wikipedia documents pre-existing facts in proportion to their acceptance.
- We're not racists. Don't go there. You can't claim that because nobody's buying the idea that lions (which exist outside of Africa) are bigger on average than tigers, they're prejudiced against Africans. Seriously?
- If you're a lion enthusiast at the expense of tigers (or bears vs. pandas, cats vs. mice, etc) then you're letting your personal enthusiasm affect your edits.
- Weight is the usually established metric for measuring animal size in the sense of largest cat, dog, or whale. Everybody is telling you that, you aren't listening.
- Lions aren't less noble than tigers, nor are tigers more noble than lions, or ocelots, for that matter. We get that you like lions. So do I. For one thing, tigers will eat you if they get a chance. Lions, as social animals, might not if they're not too hungry. Your lion is open to reason - tigers aren't.
- Please take the time to acquaint yourself with Wikipedia's expectations for editors and content. See WP:5P. Acroterion (talk) 01:36, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
A stronger warning
[edit]Please stop using Wikipedia as a forum for discussion of putative contests between lions, tigers, bears, or shrews. This is an encyclopedia, not an Internet forum, and it's disruptive. It's also disruptive to log out and continue the discussion as an IP. Acroterion (talk) 12:36, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- If you continue to to abuse the talkpage for speculation, I will block this account as a disruption-only account. Acroterion (talk) 17:53, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Blocked
[edit]I have blocked your account temporarily because even after extensive advice you don't appear to understand that Wikipedia isn't an Intenet forum for arguing lions over tigers, tigers over lions, bears over pandas or any other kind of pointless comparison. You have repeatedly tried to draw in outside forum comments to support your argument (whatever it is), which is unacceptable, and you've made hash of an already messy talkpage. If this behavior repeats after the block expires, the next block may be longer or indefinite. Please confine your discussions to article improvement based on substantial academic research, and not anecdote, opinion or some kind of personal partisanship in favor of a given animal. Acroterion (talk) 12:53, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Request reason:
I was blocked by an Administrator named Acroterion because i wanted to correct the Wikipedia on lion vs tiger since the page is full of lies about the lion and tiger. The Administrator named Acroterion blocked me because i simply mentioned the lies of this Wikipedia lion vs tiger in the Talk:Tiger vs lion... i have many references with me to correct this Wikipedia, please leave me to correct this wikipedia; my contribution will definitely get people out ignorance about lion and tiger and if i did something was inappropriate for this site, it was not my intention and I confirm i will not do it again.
Decline reason:
The administrator did not block you for wanting to correct lies. They blocked you for using Wikipedia as a forum for your disagreements, and for bringing bludgeoning talk pages with arguments related to which animals did what. To be unblocked before your block is up, you need to explain what you will do differently in the future. TonyBallioni (talk) 13:02, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- At least you could talk to me about what you want, even if you do not get unblocked, but this time, you need to be careful of what you call 'lies', because I would tolerate neither pro-tiger extremism, nor pro-lion extremism. Leo1pard (talk) 10:37, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Since you've ignored my warning and have been effectively harassing Leo1pard with dozens of posts that have nothing to do with improving the encyclopedia, I've blocked you indefinitely. This block is on all editing of Wikipedia, including any IPs you use. Acroterion (talk) 12:11, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
ACROTERION you are a great liars, a pussy, a coward, you banned me because I proved to you and the others contributors even leo1pard that lion is a superior cat; actually there are no video where a lion bowing down for a tiger, but they're tons of videos of tiger bowing down to a lion after the lion pushes hard.
Videos where the tigers beating lions are false info like these videos:

- As you are using this page to continue your personal attacks and the pursuit of your personal agenda, I have revoked your ability to edit here too. Should you one day decide you would like to contribute to Wikipedia in a mature and consensual manner, you can make an appeal at WP:UTRS (but I warn you not to abuse that process, or you could be blocked from that too.)
