[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Dan Mace, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Lensoski. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:17, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, @Lensoski, could you clarify the nature of your connection to Dan Mace? AntiDionysius (talk) 00:13, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. I am a big fan of Dan Mace & once got chance to interview Dan Mace the purpose of a Magazine article. Lensoski (talk) 00:20, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for clarifying.
- A couple of things:
- Several of your edits have been to add Mace to various lists; Wikipedia policy is usually not to include people/things on lists until there is an article about them. If you'd like to create such an article about Mace you should do that, but you shouldn't add him to those kinds of lists until the article is up.
- I think you should have a quick look at Wikipedia's policy on neutrality. A lot of what you've written has not been neutral - it's been subjective and does indeed sound like something written by a fan or someone trying to advertise Mace's work. Wikipedia articles are meant to be detached, neutral, and only to state things that have been said in reliable sources; anything that isn't a fact but an opinion can only be included if that opinion is sourced and attributed. So you can't just say something like "Dan Mace is known for his unique style of documentary filmmaking" - because that's an opinion, not a fact. Who exactly has said his style is unique? Where did they say this? You could instead maybe write "[Some critic] has described Mace's style as 'unique'" if that's something you can source and that critic is notable.
- IMDB is unfortunately not usable as a source

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Lensoski/sandbox

Your contested deletion
[edit]In your message contesting the deletion of a promotional draft, you wrote "I contest the deletion of this page because "The Bru Show" is a notable documentary series with a credible claim of significance." Did you notice that the article was deleted for advertising, not for lack of notability? You also said "The page includes multiple citations from reliable sources, including IMDb, YouTube, and Amazon, which verify the show's notability." No, these are not reliable sources. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources for further information as to why. Finally, you added even more promotional content about the show - packed with peacock terms and exaggerated claims. Please read and abide by the neutral point of view policy in future. And don't forget to declare any conflict of interest you may have with this topic. Deb (talk) 08:14, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
