Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Leilaoes, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! • 4 October 2019 user:SnøhettaAS was blocked for two reasons (1) advertising or promotion in regard to the article Snøhetta_(company), and (2) username violation, a username which indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site. (Per User_talk:SnøhettaAS.)
  • 7 October 2019 user:SnøhettaAS requested an unblock and username change to "leilaosterbo". (Per User_talk:SnøhettaAS.) While a name change would be possible and acceptable, the unblock request was provisionally declined pending explicit acknowledgement of other relevant policy issues and the Terms of Service:
  • 8 October 2019 this account, user:Leilaoes was created and preformed similar edits to article Snøhetta_(company). (Those edits have been reverted.) Given the edits and the obvious username match, I see no need to open a Sockpuppet Investigation. The two accounts are obviously operated by the same user. I'll ping Administrator Yunshui or Administrator 331dot to block this account.

Leilaoes, I'll explain a few points. Blocks are against the person, not just the account. You created a new account without resolving the block-issues as discussed under your unblock request. That is Block evasion and Sockpuppetry. Your edits with this new account also violated both the paid contributor policy and Terms of Use for paid contributors.

If you want to edit here, you first need to answer the issues raised in response to your unblock request. If you adequately address those issues then we can welcome you back as an editor. That means you either edit topics unrelated to your company, or you submit edits related to your company in compliance with our paid contributor policies. The paid contributor policies can be inconvenient, but that is the only way we will allow anyone connected to Snøhetta to contribute to that article. Wikipedia is not like Facebook, companies do not own or control the articles about them. The community are caretakers of the articles, and we consider it an unacceptable conflict of interest when companies try to write or re-write articles about themselves.

As a side note, I see that your company currently has a business engagement with the Wikimedia Foundation. I would like to offer you some info and advice. I hope you pass this info along to others at Snøhetta. The editing community and the Foundation have a complicated and rather unique relationship. The community existed first, and later the Foundation was created to support the community. The community elects, and can replace, the Board of Directors of the Wikimedia Foundation. The community has a lot of influence over what the Foundation does or does not do.

The community is currently running a proposal to reject Snøhetta's rebranding plan. That proposal is currently running 91% opposed to the plan. There is essentially no chance of following through with the plan to hijack the Wikipedia brand for the Foundation itself. I know... the Foundation staff on the project are currently on board with this plan. Unfortunately Foundation staff have a long history of running off on various projects, and those projects dying when the community rejects it. If Snøhetta wants to salvage this business deal, I strongly suggest you start working on a new strategy to rebrand the Foundation as pretty much anything other than "Wikipedia". Believe me, that plan just isn't going to happen. See the link I gave, the community is gearing up to terminate that rebranding strategy. The Board of Trustees is not going to try to proceed with a plan if the community is overwhelmingly hostile to that plan. Alsee (talk) 11:36, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Alsee is correct in their explanation above; the creation of a new account to evade the block on your previous account is an abuse of multiple accounts. Please make any unblock appeals from your original account at User:SnøhettaAS, bearing in mind that you will now also have to explain your abuse of multiple accounts as well as addressing the other issues that led to the initial block.
