Dear Leica,

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for the tutorial links. I'm no microscopist, but I was recently given an old Ortholux II and I'm slowly learning to use it. Your links will, I'm sure, be helpful.

One little point - Wiki policy is against "group editor accounts" (there are good, albeit arcane, reasons for this). It's likely that quite soon your user page will be bombarded with dire warnings about how you've been blocked, tarred and feathered for transgressions against username policy. It's particularly odd that WP reacts so strongly here when names aren't verified anyway and pseudonyms are encouraged. Please don't worry too much about this! It's not a serious problem and it doesn't mean that your contributions are unwelcome. However policy is that individual editor accounts are strongly favoured over groups. You might just like to create a new editor account with a name something like "Ernst @ Leica" (you don't even have to be called Ernst), which defuses the whole situation.

Thanks again, and I hope you find contributing to WP worthwhile. Andy Dingley (talk) 10:19, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Tryptofish. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added, because to me it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks,

I guess I'm one of those editors to whom Andy referred just above, but our policy goes against using external links to advertise commercial products. Please see also here. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:59, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
