Reviews for sale
Hey, Vilenski! Color Splash is dragging again. I can review something on your list in return for here. I'm not sure if you have done source reviews in the past, but I could really use one of those; if not, a source review would suffice. Is there anything in particular on your list that you would like me to tackle? Panini! • 🥪 12:51, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not really the guy for source reviews. I've added a boilerplate, I'll take a look soon. I have a FAC open (2021 World Snooker Championship) that if you get time, I'd appreciate any comments you have. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:07, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

Edit warring
A few anon ip users seem to be revert warring on liang’s withdrawn status, latest is Special:MobileDiff/1080928190 and people seem to be making an assumption that he has been withdrawn without an announcement to state this [and all sources showing he is still in the draw, since we do not know when his appeal hearing will be]. Mind stepping in to resolve, since i’m not interested in a revert war with an anon user lol. Thanks! —CitroenLover (talk) 08:52, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- Feel free to keep removing until the draw is updated - I did start a talk page message to this exact issue. If it gets bad, page protection would be fine, but not yet at that level. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 08:57, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- Okay that sounds good to me. Will continue to remove until we get a citable source about the draw (don't know why WST isn't just being transparent about this, they can't possibly think he'll get an appeal before his match surely). -- CitroenLover (talk) 12:48, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- I suspect they'll just mark it as a walkover when the match is decided. I suspect walkover for future rounds isn't supported by the software they use. They probably also don't want additional press about it before their showpiece event. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:50, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Template:Infobox pool player
There's something at the bottom of Template:Infobox_pool_player that should return current Eurotour Ranking when it's used. (e.g. see Mark Gray (snooker player) or Wiktor Zieliński) However, it's throwing up " needs update", possibly because the target url has changed. It looks from the infobox edit history that you might be able to fix this! Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:09, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, it needs an update Template:Infobox pool player/rankings is what needs updating, but I haven't been very quick on the draw. Our snooker template updates quickly because template:infobox snooker player/rankings is updated super quickly. I just don't have the time/ability. Perhaps we should just depreciate it unless someone can update? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:13, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi Lee, hope you are well. You were kind enough to review my last Gillingham FAC, I wondered if you might have time to take a look at my current one, which is struggling to attract any interest? No worries if not. All the best, ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:28, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

Possible copy and past article
Hey! I was looking through MusikBot II's contribs to see how long after a page's protection expires does it remove the protection template (I couldn't find an answer) and I discovered the article Bob Eco. Has this been an article that was created before or is it a draft or something, or is it just a copyvio? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:33, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
- I've moved to draft. It's clearly copied from somewhere, but more importantly, it's not suitable for mainspace. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:00, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
DYK for 2022 Tour Championship
On 12 April 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2022 Tour Championship, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Ronnie O'Sullivan became the first player to make five century breaks in consecutive matches at the 2022 Tour Championship? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2022 Tour Championship. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 2022 Tour Championship), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Possible circular ref problem with Snooker.org site
Hey Lee, Do you ever talk to Hermund Årdalen, the guy that runs the Snooker.org website? I got talking to him the other day and mentioned I was a Wikipedia editor, to which he replied ″I use Wikipedia all the time for my site.″ – er, does that mean we have a potential WP:CIRC problem? Thought I'd alert you to that. Maybe we need to find out from him exactly where he gets his tournament information from, surely he doesn't just copy it from Wiki articles?
I contacted him via the form on his website and he replied to my email address, so I now have his address which is hermund@laboremus.no
He also asked me some questions that I can't answer, so maybe you would be the best person to help him with this?
″I'm actually planning to link to the relevant Wikipedia page from our player profiles. At least the major ones. For instance for https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/John_Higgins I would store "John_Higgins" in our database. That way I can also link to other language versions. Assuming they all use the same path. Do they? Or maybe there is some unique ID I could use that spans all the language versions?
Any way to export a list of paths (or unique IDs) from Wikipedia for snooker players?″
Rodney Baggins (talk) 16:03, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- I'd assume that he uses it for player details, which isn't something we cite from snooker.org, so you wouldn't have the issues with CIRC. Might be worth checking what info is used, but it's certainly not scores. If we have to put a "conditional reliability to just scores and dates" that would be fine with me. (For instance, WP:PW/RS lists a similar website cagematch.net as reliable for match results, but not anything else).
Meta is the place for the ID strings, I can maybe take a look and see how it works later. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 16:42, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Question from Okaformmesoma (20:12, 16 April 2022)
Hello, so when it comes to not copy and pasting from a different website, that means that I have to paraphrase when I got my sources ? --Okaformmesoma (talk) 20:12, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Okaformmesoma, thanks for the question. Basically you cannot put copyrighted material on Wikipedia. Most people are under the impression that copyright only applies to registered trademarks, but actually it applies to all works, that includes most things on the internet. We want to paraphrase items and cite where the information comes from. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 20:18, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

I'm going to nominate this for GA but I want to have a second opinion. Is the article fine for GA in your opinion? Dr Salvus 11:31, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
Dennis Taylor
Hello friend,
I see you did great work to get the above to GA standard– well done! Without intruding in any way on its accuracy, his Christian name is 'Denis'. Over the years the good old BBC have ingrained the name 'Dennis" such that it's become accepted. But it's not correct. Should it be changed if I can find a source? Regards Billsmith60 (talk) 16:29, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Billsmith60, if there is a cite that has that as his birth name, might be worth a mention. I doubt it's a BBC thing, considering he was Dennis for all of his matches when he played and is Dennis in every other media that has been released. Question from Owow42owow (18:21, 29 April 2022)
hi ,sorry im dyslexic so my writeing is poor ,and i dont realy know how to use a pc ,because im stupid ,and hopefully im wrong about what i beleave you can do on wiki,no one should be allowed to edit any page ,they should only be able to report it ,so who wrote it can edit it or confirm its corect ,wiki was trusted infomation once that you could rely on to be correct ,i used to used it to double check books .and the only thing i found difernt to what info was availble of line ,was wiki give you far more details and indepth info on any part of the page you were reading ,and the gov did a smear campaign to discredit wiki as a source of info ,that could be used legaly or relyied to be correct ,and untill then wiki had been right ,and after the gov claims of wiki not being a trusted info site ,every think i searched was wrong or had been edited with silly changes and mistakes ,and untill you stop leting people edit any page they like then its never going to be a trusted info site ,as it takes a long time to write about a subject and reserch all the info ,to make sure its correct ,and then when its all correct and it is posted ,some prick can just destroy it by editing it and makeing it a joke ,and to remove the origanal and not be able to view what it said before the idiot edited it ,if im right about that , then prick is one of you who are claiming to be thier to protect her ,and i hope im wrong ,but if any one can edit a page , then those that are claiming to help are thier to destroy ,sorry im dyslexic ,but i think you can see my point , --Owow42owow (talk) 18:21, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Owow42owow - I think you are describing another website. We simply summarise what other websites say. We aren't, and should never be used as a source for anything. The whole structure of Wikipedia is that we are an encyclopaedia that can be edited by anyone. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:57, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
