Question

[edit]

Are you related to John Napier (primatologist)? (Gowron 09:17, 15 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Well it probably was asking too much, John Napier and my father shared quite a lot of infomation regarding the Yeti question. John Napier was somebody many people like myself respect, he wrote very well, clearly, from experience and was able to translate large amounts of data properly and without prior conviction. (Gowron 19:02, 16 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Castle

[edit]

I noticed your edit at Merchiston Castle. If you have an interest in castles, you may wish to vote at WP:ACID to improve the Castle article. It is going to fail its nomination today if we do not get two more votes soon. Please contribute!

Thanks. --Grimhelm 22:16, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category Fixing

[edit]

Thanks for correcting the category in Bob Russell (Alberta politician) - I'll be more careful about capitalization in the future. Sarcasticidealist 21:07, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. I had made the mistake myself, and since there were so few, I figured I'd fix them all. - LeeNapier 21:09, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scottish Castles

[edit]

As a participant in Wikipedia:WikiProject Scottish Castles, I'd just like to draw your attention to a proposal, I have put forward on the talk page regarding infoboxes. Your input would be most welcome. Thanks, Edward Waverley 12:37, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

archontology

[edit]

Hi. I notice that you claim on your user page to have improved the article archontology, and reading that page's history I note that you indeed did much to make that page more encyclopedic. I'm writing to ask you whether you have any personal knowledge of this term. Have you ever come across it in any context other than the wikipedia? Many thanks, Doops | talk 22:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much

[edit]

Dear Lee, Thank you for the edit in the Michael R. Napier page. Much appreciated. --Cyril Thomas 16:55, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem at all. It was just a tiny edit, actually. - LeeNapier 18:06, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Charles Napier

[edit]

Hi Lee, I presume you're related in some way to Charles J. Napier. I'm currently in Kefalonia, where my wife is from, and am reading about his remarkable contribution to the development of this island. I hope to write a section on his Kefalonian years soon. Best regards, --Damac 11:20, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We are so distantly related as to be considered unrelated.  :)I think our family lines may have diverged in the 1400s. Nevertheless, I'm interested to read about his accomplishments in Kefalonia, and will keep my eye open for that. - LeeNapier 16:09, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Napier Company (jewellery)

[edit]

Apologies for taking so long to answer. Yes, I think that's much better, and I have taken off the {{advertisement}} tag I put on. But please understand that I'm only another editor, not any sort of authority: from time to time I do what's known as "Recent Changes Patrol", looking at incoming articles, tagging the hopeless ones for an admin. to look at with a view to speedy deletion, and tagging others which seem to need improvement. Many articles about companies, particularly new ones, fail either on notability or on conflict of interest, and their originators have to be reminded that Wikipedia is not a directory in which every business has a right to be listed. Actually, COI is hard to police because of the anonymity of user names; the best give-away is an advertisement-like tone, which is what I picked up on your original article. Another thing to realise is that the author of an article doesn't own it - other people may edit your article in future. Best wishes. JohnCD 21:25, 15 November 2007 (UTC) P.S. I wrote the above thinking you were a new user, sorry if it sounds a bit condescending. JohnCD 21:25, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:MacFarlane Crest.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

image ripped off from http://www.gaelicthemes.gaelicweb.co.uk/mainsite/clancrst/084.gif "All products & and images (c) Gaelic Themes 2001"

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:MacFarlane Crest.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Celtus (talk) 10:28, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MacFarlane Crest.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MacFarlane Crest.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Celtus (talk) 06:31, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Marshall Napier

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Marshall Napier requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Toddst1 (talk) 09:34, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello LeeNapier! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

File source problem with File:William Ewart Napier.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:William Ewart Napier.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. • It's been something like 8 years since I uploaded that image, and I have no memory of doing so. If it is more expedient to delete it and use the existing image on Wikimedia Commons, do so with my blessing. LeeNapier (talk) 22:18, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited James Carroll Napier, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Treasury Department. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
