If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Rob Surtees, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. creffett (talk) 15:26, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Lebohang12340. Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.

Hi Athaenara, please kindly unblock me so i can start a new page with the name "Rob Surtees" or atleast please assist by unblocking the draft "Rob Surtees". I mistakenly added information that is prohibited by wikipedia, which gave the impression that i am advertising or promoting. Therefore, i sincerely ask for a chance to create another page with this name or atleast be given an opportunity to edit the page with your help. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lebohang12340 (talkcontribs) 10:33, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Athaenara I have read and understood the "conflict of interest" rules. I have realized that the whole Rob Surtees draft has been deleted and no one is allowed to create a page with that name. Therefore, can i ask you to please unblock the page or this name so that the owner of this name may be able to create a wikipedia page for himself. Your assistance will be highly appreciated. {{unblock|reason=Hi Athaenara I have read and understood the "conflict of interest" rules. Which is writing an article about my boss, which is prohibited on wikipedia. I have mistakenly not followed the rules and would like my appeal to be unblocked be considered. I have realized that the whole Rob Surtees draft has been deleted and no one is allowed to create a page with that name. Therefore, can i ask you to please unblock the page or this name so that the owner of this name and article be given an opportunity to create a wikipedia page for himself, or someone else to write it instead. Your assistance will be highly appreciated.}}

Request reason:

"Hi Athaenara I have read and understood the "conflict of interest" rules. Which is writing an article about my boss, which is prohibited on wikipedia. Decline reason:

It is not that no one can create an article, it is that you should not write about your boss as it is a conflict of interest(you would also be a paid editor). Your boss also should ideally not write about themselves, either, as autobiographies are highly discouraged. Not every person merits a Wikipedia article; this is not social media to merely tell about people. Your boss would only merit an article here if he meets the special definition of notable people Wikipedia has, written at WP:BIO, as shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources. If an article were created, your boss would not own it or be able to exclusively control it, either. As you don't indicate what contributions you want to make to Wikipedia if unblocked, I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:08, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

"Hi,Thank you for your quick response. Like i said i have read an understood the wikipedia rules and i do realize my mistakes and apologize. And what i am currently asking for now is that "Rob Surtees" wikipedia draft maybe unblock so that in future when he meets the necessary wikipedia criteria of being regarded as notable, he may be able to get an opportunity to have a page as well. I apologise and i am worried that i have ruined my bosses chances to be live on wikipedia one day, hence i wholeheartedly ask you to unblock him. ." Lebohang12340 (talk) 11:23, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline; this is not an unblock request. Please see WP:GAB to understand how to write an unblock request. Yamla (talk) 12:47, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing preventing someone from creating such an article in the future, either as a draft to submit or directly. If you are not seeking to contribute to Wikipedia, you should withdraw your request. 331dot (talk) 11:44, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would add that your boss would not "have a page" on Wikipedia, there would be article about him on Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 11:45, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Okay.If i understand you well. You are saying that such an article with the name "Rob Surtees" can be created in the future?." Lebohang12340 (talk) 11:51, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Even though it is blocked now?." Lebohang12340 (talk) 11:52, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Subsequent comments should not be unblock requests; simply post a standard comment without the unblock formatting. As I said, there is nothing preventing someone from creating an article about him should he meet the criteria in the future. It shouldn't be him or anyone associated with him, though. 331dot (talk) 11:57, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No page is blocked, you are blocked, but the draft was only deleted. 331dot (talk) 11:58, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hi, kindly please assist here. I had few conversations with a certain administrator, who really helped me resolve issues i had with understanding how wikipedia works. I realized there is a certain criteria a person needs to meet in order to be regarded as a notable person in wikipedia in a case whereby one wants his or her article published on wikipedia. Therefore can you kindly elaborate what one needs to be or have in order to have articles about their lives be published. Your assistance will be highly appreciated. Lebohang12340 (talk) 10:21, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please read about how Wikipedia defines a notable person at WP:BIO. Certain careers have their own criteria (WP:BAND for musicians, for example). Also understand, though, that Wikipedia is not concerned with whether or not the subject might want an article. Wikipedia has no interest in merely telling about someone or in helping search results or "internet presence". A Wikipedia article is not necessarily desirable(please read that link). Any information, good or bad, can go in it as long as it appears in an independent reliable source; there are good reasons to not want an article. The subject has no more special rights to it than any other editor, they can't dictate what appears there or lock it to what they might want it to say.
Before you get that far, though, you would need to make a successful unblock request, and that's not going to happen as long as you want to write about yourself or your boss. Feel free to show your boss the information on this page. 10:41, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
