Ways to improve David Allan-Petale

[edit]

Hello, Lazzylazza,

Thank you for creating David Allan-Petale.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The article is unbalanced, being mainly about one work, not about the writer. Where is there substantial coverage of the writer in reliable independent sources? (see WP:RS).

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Paul W}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Cindy Solonec moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Cindy Solonec, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Paul W (talk) 11:45, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. How is this different from the other article i created which was not moved to draft? Any help very welcomed. Larry Lazzylazza (talk) 05:47, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Both articles should ideally be incubated further in draftspace, but I couldn't move David Allan-Petale as there is already an article called Draft:David Allan-Petale (their content should be merged, with one draft then developed and the other discontinued and deleted).
Writer biographies should be based on substantial coverage in reliable independent sources (not fleeting mentions, and not material largely sourced from PR/marketing, etc, by the author's publisher), and should ideally give some information about the author (birthplace, family, education, career, other works, etc); book reviews and author profiles may help in this respect. See also WP:AUTHOR for guidance on author notability. Paul W (talk) 14:35, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A lengthy welcome

[edit]

Hi Lazzylazza. Welcome to Wikipedia. I've added a welcome message to the top of this page that gives a great deal of information about Wikipedia. I hope you find it useful.

Additionally, I hope you don't mind if I share some of my thoughts on starting out as a new editor on Wikipedia: If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily in collaboration.

Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.

If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's Conflict of interest policy, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter. Regardless, editing in a manner that promotes an entity or viewpoint over others can appear to be detrimental to the purpose of Wikipedia and the neutrality required in articles.

Some topic areas within Wikipedia have special editing restrictions that apply to all editors. It's best to avoid these topics until you are extremely familiar with all relevant policies and guidelines.

If you work from reliable, independent sources, you shouldn't go far wrong. WP:RSP and WP:RSN are helpful in determining if a source is reliable.

If you find yourself in a disagreement with another editor, it's best to discuss the matter on the relevant talk page.

I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --Hipal (talk) 01:50, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
