Uploading woes
[edit]Hi there. I'm trying to post images in the Atlantic Philanthropies article and I'm having bother understanding the licencing I need to apply. I have the permission of the copyright holder to use these images. These images should be free to use for anyone with no restrictions. They are low resolution and in the context of the article, they are fair use, as I understand it. I would appreciate a steer as to the most suitable licence to arrange for this content. rgds LTF I
Fair use rationale for File:AP Logo Official b.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:AP Logo Official b.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 20:47, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for File:BiomedicineAP.jpg}
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:BiomedicineAP.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. effort to restore balance and resolve any perceived conflict of interest
[edit]This is my first effort at Wikipedia pages. I got flagged for what I would describe as imbalance. First of all, I appreciate the feedback. I have looked again at the content and if it's not unorthodox, I would like to have another go in order to address the points raised in the feedback.
In other words, I've identified some edits that could be better and I'd like to fix them up in a way that faithfully addresses the spirit and mission of Wikipedia. That's all for now. rgds LTF
edit to historical leadership
[edit]I have identified this subsection as possible controversial content. I have removed this subsection in favor of a rewrite off-line. On reflection, it may not appear well balanced or precise enough within guidelines of Wikipedia. ACTION: Taken out. ROADMAP: Rewrite the salient history in an editorially balanced way so that any relevant content conforms to Wikipedia guidelines. Possible future re-submission.
edit to introduction/overview
[edit]reconfigured the facts and references to comply to neutrality guidelines. Tried to focus in on the verifiable facts and eliminate any unverifiable facts to restore editorial balance.
Re: self importance is our greatest enemy
[edit]Thank you for being responsive to feedback. It's been my experience that non-profits and humanitarian organizations are represented by capable people, more so than those paid to advertise a business via the wiki. In order to clarify the editorial concerns I'd like to point you to WP:RS & WP:NPOV. Please keep in mind that primary source information may be challenged or altogether deleted. Sections discussing the general philosophies of AP and its donees seem a bit advertorial. Details of any recognition the organization has received are welcome, however a thorough listing of all individual projects makes the article read like a directory.
Oh, and almost forgot. You're a new user, so...

Orphaned non-free media (File:NCLRpresident.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:NCLRpresident.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:07, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
History edits
[edit]These changes are to enhance the history of AP with 3rd party references to every fact mentioned for greater effect. It is hoped that edits such as this will go some way to eliminate any perceived conflict of interest or 'advertorial' tone. Larry T. Farrell (talk) 03:01, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
removed 'tags' indicating conflict of interest etc
[edit]In the interests of clarifying the page for the general reader, and following on from extensive edits, I went ahead and removed the tags placed there that indicated a perceived conflict of interest. This is important because a TV show will be broadcast in Ireland and the traffic to the page ought to increase. If the edits have resolved the perceived conflict of interest and boosted the Neutral POV then the tags are no longer adding to the situation. Readers would potentially be confused because - the situation has changed a lot since those tags were applied. I hope that's ok. Larry T. Farrell (talk) 01:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
added current references to sources in history
[edit]There is currently some coverage of Chuck Feeney and Atlantic Philanthropies in the Irish media which has been included as source material to refer to in the history section. TV info [1] Newspaper coverage[2] Larry T. Farrell (talk) 01:57, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
edit to Activities section
[edit]This edit gives references and details of specific AP activities as well as some references to recognition. So far have discussed activities in four countries, will add more later. Comprehensive references and footnotes included. (May be subject to minor edits to improve look & feel) rgds Larry T. Farrell (talk) 03:05, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Disputed non-free use rationale for File:AP Logo Official b.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:AP Logo Official b.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:05, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Cocleary secbillionaire book.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Cocleary secbillionaire book.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 02:30, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
