  • With regard to copyright, you are right, it must be public domain or our Wikipedia licence, which allows distribution, changes and use for any purpose. You could release the text under an OTRS ticket, but that would have the same outcome and the text is too promotional anyway.
  • I don't know if it will be profitable to dispute that charge with you, but we are a community that fields member contributions to build better modules for higher ed — editors are meant to edit on their own behalf, not to represent an organisation, however worthy. That's why we block usernames that represent a company or product (and usually the option to change the name without appealing the block is not offered).
  • The reason is that editors with conflict of interest find it very difficult to write neutrally about something they are involved in. Charities and religious bodies are among the worse offenders.
  • Facts are what are required. Opinions, mission statements, visions and other hazy writing always turn out as spam. If the NY Times or the US Government say this is a great idea, then you can quote it with a reference. If it's your chairman, a website of unknown provenance, an affiliate or a blog, you can't.

I'll move the text here shortly. Let me know when you think it's ready to repost, and I'll have look. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:52, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
