- An RfC on the administrator resysop criteria was closed. 18 proposals have been summarised with a variety of supported and opposed statements. The inactivity grace period within which a new request for adminship is not required has been reduced from three years to two. Additionally, Bureaucrats are permitted to use their discretion when returning administrator rights.
- Following a proposal, the edit filter mailing list has been opened up to users with the Edit Filter Helper right.
- Wikimedia projects can set a default block length for users via MediaWiki:ipb-default-expiry. A new page, MediaWiki:ipb-default-expiry-ip, allows the setting of a different default block length for IP editors. Neither is currently used. (T219126)

About the technical template. I don’t oppose to the template per se, but could you elaborate the rationale behind the template? I have also edited the lead a bit to make the “context” clearer. Is that enough? —- Taku (talk) 21:25, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

- A request for comment asks whether partial blocks should be enabled on the English Wikipedia. If enabled, this functionality would allow administrators to block users from editing specific pages or namespaces, rather than the entire site.
- A proposal asks whether admins who don't use their tools for a significant period of time (e.g. five years) should have the toolset procedurally removed.
- Following a successful RfC, a whitelist is now available for users whose redirects will be autopatrolled by a bot, removing them from the new pages patrol queue. Admins can add such users to Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Redirect whitelist after a discussion following the guidelines at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Redirect whitelist.

- Following a request for comment, partial blocks are now enabled on the English Wikipedia. This functionality allows administrators to block users from editing specific pages or namespaces rather than the entire site. A draft policy is being workshopped at Wikipedia:Partial blocks.
- The request for comment seeking the community's sentiment for a binding desysop procedure closed with
wide-spread support for an alternative desysoping procedure based on community input
. No proposed process received consensus.
- Twinkle now supports partial blocking. There is a small checkbox that toggles the "partial" status for both blocks and templating. There is currently one template: {{uw-pblock}}.
- When trying to move a page, if the target title already exists then a warning message is shown. The warning message will now include a link to the target title. [1]
- Following a recent arbitration case, the Arbitration Committee reminded administrators
that checkuser and oversight blocks must not be reversed or modified without prior consultation with the checkuser or oversighter who placed the block, the respective functionary team, or the Arbitration Committee.

Article on George Bernard Shaw
I would be grateful for editorial help with an addition to the Early Years section of the George Bernard Shaw article.
My name is A.M. (Tony) Gibbs. I am an Emeritus Professor of English at Macquarie University and a well known Shaw scholar. I have written and edited seven well-acclaimed books on his life and work. My book, Bernard Shaw: A Life (University Press of Florida, 2005) is the most recent full-scale biography of Shaw, and was described by Stanley Weintraub in the Journal of Bernard Shaw Studies as "the most authoritative yet and likely to remain so for some time". This description was endorsed by Brad Kent in his Oxford Bibliography article on Shaw and by other commentators.
I would like to add a final sentence to the first paragraph of the Early years section of the Shaw article, following the words "shabby-genteel poverty." The additional sentence is:
Different perspectives on the characters of Shaw’s parents, their marriage and financial situation, are presented by Shaw scholar and biographer A.M Gibbs.
The citations for this new sentence are:
A.M. Gibbs, Bernard Shaw: A Life (Gainesville, University Press of Florida,2005), pp.19-36.
A.M. Gibbs,“The Slaying of His Da and Other Recurrent Problems in Shavian Biography”, SHAW: The Journal of Bernard Shaw Studies, vol 39, No.2, 2019, pp. 243-54.
I am having difficulty with the methodology of adding new matter to the Wikipedia articles, and I would be very grateful for assistance with this.
Kind regards,
Tony Gibbs

I suggest getting assistance from an editor better able to work on such topics. Perhaps Styyx can? LadyofShalott 18:53, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Mevlut Bin Omar and LadyofShalott. I've looked at the sources and I think the article of Daily Sabah [3] pretty much includes all of the information and is in English. As you may have noticed most of the other sources include the keyword kim/kimdir. Those are about who he is, general information about him (Birth- year/place etc.). Most sources talk about the same thing. These are the "definately reliable" sources: [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]. Im not good enough to decide if a person is notable enough to be worth of an article, but I would give it a go. To sum it up: there are some reliable sources but these are about the exact same thing. If you read the article of Daily Sabah you know almost everything. ~Styyx Hi! ^-^ 08:56, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

- The problem is that I don't read Arabic or Turkish, and so while at a mere glance, it seems reasonable, I am not able to do a real evaluation. That requires looking at sources. I can do some minor cleanup and copyediting for English and Wikipedia style, but I am not able to say more. I would advise that you go through the sources you have and expand the article, using each source to give maybe a two or three references for each fact, rather than twenty one a single sentence. That will improve the article, as well as increase the value of each reference. LadyofShalott 18:01, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

Assistance with an Article for Creation
Hello LadyofShalott!
First of all, my name is Calvin, and I am currently working on my first ever Article for Creation! I come to your talk page to ask for assistance with said AfC, and I found your user page by reading the list of active administrators on Wikipedia! I also read through your user page and you seem to be a very thoughtful and helpful editor. I am here to ask for help with the article for Kurt Kerns (Draft:Kurt Kerns).
The Article for Creation has hit numerous blocks for not passing notability guidelines, and just today the editor that Rejected the draft told me that he was not convinced, and I should try to ask another editor for their opinion. I would love for you to take a look at the page if you have time and let me know what you think! If you look at the draft's talk page, you can see the dialogue I had with the other editor about the AfC meeting the WP:AUTHOR guidelines, and his reasoning for Rejecting. After leaving Gravity Kills, Kerns has gone on to become a notable architect, so I am interested in what you think of that perspective.
Any assistance would be much appreciated, and I look forward to receiving your input. Thank you!
