Information icon Hello, I'm Jellyfish. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to LaSalle Investment Management have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. jellyfish  01:08, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "LaSalleInvestment", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. jellyfish  01:09, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
    • You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here My company wanted a corporate username to our wikipedia account, I requested another username now: AlexandraConstantin or if I can keep this one, it would be best }}

Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:11, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your reason here My company wanted a corporate username to our wikipedia account, I requested another username now: AlexandraConstantin or if I can keep this one, it would be best

Decline reason:

The username would probably be fine, but the connection to AHatJLL needs to be determined if currently unknown to you, and then disclosed properly, before the editing can continue. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:59, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi LaSalleInvestment, what is your connection to AHatJLL? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:24, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No connection - seems to be a JLL employee? JLL is the parent company of LaSalle but we are an operationally independent subsidiary of Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) LaSalleInvestment (talk) 01:47, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
...and why are these "operationally independent subsidiaries" now both becoming active on Wikipedia from the same IP addresses? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:49, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll block the involved accounts until the connection is resolved internally and those responsible agree to openly disclose all involved accounts in this multi-company Wikipedia editing project on the user page of all accounts, in a way compatible with the paid-contribution disclosure requirements and the policy against sockpuppetry. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:53, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please clarify what you mean by "now becoming active"? I see AHatJLL created their user in 18 August 2022
and I'm not sure how we can check if we have the same IP address but it could be because we all log in through the JLL VPN? LaSalleInvestment (talk) 02:27, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That would still not explain the timing of the editing activity. I guess someone asked you to edit Wikipedia on behalf of the company and that person either has been asked to ask you, or is aware of the other Wikipedia edits and editors. There's probably a connection somewhere, someone coordinating this, even if that happens without your knowledge. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 03:50, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The other editors you flagged are from JLL, I work for LaSalle, I do have a couple of references to JLL on the LaSalle page because they are the parent company but they are sourced correctly - I'm sorry but I am not looped into their actions, we have completely separate marketing departments.
From a user perspective, I was just trying to update my company's logo and it required me to create an account (which I did). After that, there is no guidance that I should've disclosed my employment status or relationship with users I didn't even know existed.
Appreciate your fast replies, but I'm not sure how to fix the issues in order to be unblocked - if you can provide exact next steps, it would very helpful.
Thank you again,
Alexandra LaSalleInvestment (talk) 14:40, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the clarification. Updating a logo is generally fine, although the conflict of interest guideline and the paid-editing disclosure requirements apply. A disclosure is not needed if you, in your free time, want to fix the article about your employer. It is required when you do so as part of your job, which you appear to do ("we all log in through the JLL VPN"). You can provide the needed disclosure if/when you're unblocked, by clicking your currently-red username and creating that currently-not-existing page with the required information. You should also, now that you are aware of them, mention the existence of the AHatJLL, JKatJLL and GKatJLL and describe the connection just like you did above, to avoid impressions of sockpuppetry (or "meatpuppetry").
There is a FAQ for Organizations about editing Wikipedia that answers some common questions.
I'd like to hear from AHatJLL in form of an unblock request, I think. You may also create one, although you'd probably need to explain why exactly you wanted to update the company logo, and in case that was a request from someone else, investigate the reason for that request first. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:44, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you very much for your explanations and for contacting AHatJLL; they have provided a detailed explanation in Special:Permalink/1262103053 that does, together with your explanation, resolve my concerns. The timing may have been a coincidence; it doesn't necessarily matter in the end.
As long as you openly disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation and explicitly mention AHatJLL, JKatJLL and GKatJLL as people working for the parent company of your operationally independent company on your user page, I think everything should be fine disclosure-wise. Editing your user page (Special:MyPage) when your account has been renamed and unblocked is the easiest way to provide the required disclosure.
I'll restore your unblock request with corrected syntax to ask an account renamer to rename your account to AlexandraConstantin as you had originally requested. I'd be fine with the renamer directly unblocking your account in the process, but I can also do so when notified. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:48, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Per the remarks below, it appears we've already gone through all of this once and you already have an account by this name. El Beeblerino if you're not into the whole brevity thing 22:48, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@LaSalleInvestment: There is already an account named User:Alexandra Constantin, and based on the fact that that account was originally named "JLL Income Property Trust", it appears that it is also yours. If it is, you should submit an unblock request for that account instead of asking to rename this one. --Ahecht (TALK
