[edit]You posted a message to my talk page which seems to contradict the previous post by administrator, Jkelly, which directed me to do put the concern on the Third Party dispute page. License tagging for Image:KramerTop 01.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:KramerTop 01.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

AFC Backlog Drive!
[edit]WikiProject AFC is holding a one month long assessment drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unreviewed articles. The drive is running from July 15, 2007 – August 15, 2007.
Awards to be won range from delicacies such as the WikiCookie to barnstars.
There is a backlog of more than one year, so start reviewing articles! Visit the drive's page and help out!
This drive was organized by GrooveDog in an attempt to terminate that nasty backlog.

WikiProject Articles for creation
[edit]We are one week in to the drive, and it's already going fantastic. Numerous days of backlogs have been tackled, with hundreds of articles having been reviewed. We do, however, have some news!
First off, a HUGE congratulations to everyone participating so far. I understand some members are inactive due to vacation, but we are still making great progress.
Secondly, make sure that before you go off and review old submissions, that you review all submissions for the present day, and the day before, so that we aren't actually making a bigger backlog, by letting submissions get archived while we're checking stuff from 2006.
Third, remember to update your running total, on the drive page. Honesty is the best policy, so if you lie about the number of articles you've reviewed, we'll all make angry faces while looking at your userpage.
And, last, if you have any questions about the drive, feel free to ask me, or any other members of the project.
Great job, everyone! We're going to get that backlog!
GrooveDog.

Evolution edits
[edit]Hi there, I'm afraid I've reversed both of your changes to this article. This is because both features you changed were the outcome of discussion on the talk page, rather than inattentiveness to layout. The reference list is very long, people therefore felt that for the casual reader it would make more sense for it to go last, rather than separating off the External links and Further reading that they would probably be more interested in. The See also section was also removed deliberately. We found over time that it grew and grew and was a constant source of conflict, besides all the links your suggested were also already in the article. I hope this is OK with you, I didn't want to appear to be reverting with no reason. Tim Vickers 00:54, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Reason for decline on Rodney S. Markin
[edit]I don't understand the reason for rejection. In reference to your reason, there are 3rd party sources listed, but because they don't have a wikipedia entry, you decline the article? This appears to be a catch22. However, what more third party do you require? Included are the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), College of American Pathologists, Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (Formerly NCCLS), publications etc.
Dr. Markin is a faculty member and very important figure with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a pioneer in Clinical Laboratory Automation. Please indicate what else needs to be established. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.197.176.79 (talk) 17:20, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

- I am not saying it is worthless or that it is unimportant, the article was simply written like an advert for the theater and not like an encyclopedia article. ffm 23:41, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining your reasons (and I understand the problem; every Jack and Jill looks at Wiki. and thinks of its advertising possibilities.)
I have added their performance credits stretching back to the 1950s and hyperlinked to the more notable venues to try to make it apparent that this is NOT a proprietary dance school but a professional dance company based at a major state university, even if the performers are children (which is what makes it unique).
The .EDU suffix on the hyperlink should by itself be a kind of Good Housekeeping seal of approval; one cannot simply log onto GoDaddy and ask for a .EDU registration.
If you could suggest anything I might do further to make this look less like the Daisy Dinkle Dance School fishing for students please let me know.
Contemporary / modern dance is poorly documented, not merely on Wikipedia but in all senses, and Wiki. would seem to be the ideal format for doing so (a further problem is that the dance community is not particularly computer literate -- still.)
My own involvement in this arose by a chance encounter with Virginia Tanner's papers which are deposited with the N.Y. Public Library's performing arts collection.
I am a stage director, member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers; translator, member no. 2 of Swedish Translators in North America and founding vice president, now retired; and full time faculty member at City University of N.Y. (not retired -- which is what pays the rent.)
Doing some theatre research at the library I came across an entry for a professional children's dance company, and the more I read the more astonished I became.
Tanner founded the University of Utah's dance department and the Children's Dance Theatre almost immediately thereafter.
In the 1960s the Rockefeller Foundation on less funded her founding of the Utah Repertory Dance Theatre, which has recruited dancers from the children's company ever since.
This is a contemporary dance relationship that directly parallels that which exists between the New York City Ballet and its School of American Ballet (even in the fact that the children's company predates the adult, much as George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein founded the S.A.B. before the ballet company.)
It would've been nice to put up three or four massive pages all at once covering Tanner, the dance program U. of Utah, the R.D.T. (as it's known) and Children's Dance Theatre; but this is a labor of love, not my 9 to 5 job.
I'm hoping to track down a few of the dancers from the early days of the company, either for consultation or to get them involved in filling out the details (they do not need great computer skills; they can e-mail me text and I can plug it it.)
Since this runs the risk of being a recurring problem, I will build it all -- the Repertory Dance Theatre as well -- into the Virginia Tanner entry, which I hope will eliminate any possibility that anyone will mistake it for an ad.
I apologize for taking so much of your time (there is surely more than enough work maintaining Wikipedia for you volunteer staff) but there is so little dance documented on Wiki. (other than ballet) that I felt it necessary to explain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robertgreer (talk • contribs) 13:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I noticed at you gave a vandalism warning at User_talk:Bosox38schilling for the creation of a non-notable article. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Logo ibmecsp.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Logo ibmecsp.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:30, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Xindesk, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Xindesk is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Xindesk, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit]Hi. I did not vandalise the Ultrasone page. I suggest you look at the talk page of that article, and remember to assume good faith. Hello. I wish to nominated the article Orion (constellation) to be semi-protected because of the extreme number of anonymous vandals editing that article. Considering it's a high profile article, an article children would be likely to look up, the detrimental effects of the vandalism to how Wikipedia looks as a whole, and the proportion that most edits are vandalism and reversions, I think semi-protection against anonymous users would be appropriate. Since the process requires a consensus on the article's talk page and you are one of the registered users who have reverted vandalism recently, I am writing in the hopes that you will go to the talk page and agree to the semi-protection. If we can get a convincing consensus, we can continue the process to the next step. Thanks for your time. --Bark (talk) 15:03, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Articles for creation needs your help! | |
WikiProject Articles for creation has done a tremendous job in working at WP:AFC over the past 7½ months. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication! Together, we've made the submission process easier and more streamlined, developed tools to make the process go faster for reviewers, and cut the backlog down to a mere fraction of what it once was. Well done! As you all are aware, however, our work is not quite yet done. The project still has 10 archive pages left to complete, which include over half a month's worth of submissions, many of which have not been completely reviewed. We need your help to finish looking over these neglected submissions so that we can finally remove the backlog notice from the page, and put an end to the more than two year old backlog that has been a thorn in our side for ages! Participants will receive an AFC Barnstar, so hurry up and help out while there's still work to be done! Make sure to sign in on the WikiProject's talk page so we know who is involved in what promises to be our final effort to complete this goal. Thank you for all your help! |
You are receiving this letter because you are listed as a participant in the Articles for creation WikiProject at WP:WPAFC. To avoid receiving further notices, please remove your name from the list. Thanks!
