Great job creating Hero of the German Democratic Republic (GDR)! Happy editing :) Actualcpscm (talk) 17:17, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Got there in the end.
One outstanding matter: the article doesn't appear to be linked to the German version of it at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Held_der_DDR under the languages section. How do we do that? LDPUK (talk) 17:22, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done it for you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:38, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! 🙏🏻
For my own mental toolbox, how do I do that for future translations? LDPUK (talk) 17:39, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Depends (I think) on what skin you use. I use the Vector 2022, so for me I go to the Tools menu and Add/edit interlanguage links. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:43, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I spotted that, but decided not to touch it as I thought I might break something! Thanks again! LDPUK (talk) 17:45, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also I have just looked through the all other language versions. Max 2 refs vs the new English version's 32 refs. I can't deny that whilst I was duped 😂 into 'translating' the article, I am pleased with the result—even more so by comparison! LDPUK (talk) 17:45, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There‘s something very satisfying about writing and publishing an article yourself. What‘s next on your list? Actualcpscm (talk) 17:59, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So this exercise took me on a magical mystery tour of the official gazette of the GDR (...things you never thought would happen...), and I noticed that https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gesetzblatt_der_Deutschen_Demokratischen_Republik doesn't have an English language version, despite its word literally being the law of how GDR society developed and was lived in—a much more important organ in a dictatorship than gazettes are in democracies.
I'll take a closer look... LDPUK (talk) 18:05, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck! Feel free to ping me or ask on my talk page if there's anything I can help you with. Actualcpscm (talk) 18:06, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I may well do! 🙏🏻 LDPUK (talk) 18:07, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there—thanks for this. I'm new, so I hope you'll forgive me for asking what "dab links" are! :) DEnglish (talk) 23:54, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dab is short for WP:disambiguation. For example, if I type [[Joker]], it links to a disambiguation page for the term (Joker). Dab pages exist for a reason, but it‘s much better to link to the article on the thing you‘re referring to. I‘ll take this opportunity to point you toward the WP:GLOSSARY :) Actualcpscm (talk) 06:58, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
