Thanks for the reminder. L.tak (talk) 06:02, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on NNU-10-HanRongrong/Classification of touristic sites (China), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 23:07, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi. In United Nations laissez-passer, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Laissez-passer (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

January 2012

Your recent editing history at Template:Same-sex unions shows that you are in danger of breaking the three-revert rule, or that you may have already broken it. An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Breaking the three-revert rule often leads to a block.

If you wish to avoid being blocked, instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to discuss the changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. You may still be blocked for edit warring even if you do not exceed the technical limit of the three-revert rule if your behavior indicates that you intend to continue to revert repeatedly. Me-123567-Me (talk) 21:22, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

This is interesting. My previous edit to this page was in April 2010 (!) on a completely different subject. I don't think this is justified to template-warn for a single action on a subject and strongly encourage you to take my advice on your talkpage instead of looking at others. Tnx L.tak (talk) 21:31, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Could you join to discussion? Ron 1987 (talk) 20:02, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

;-) was already on my way in, but edit conflicted with you.. rgds! L.tak (talk) 20:06, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

L.tak come join the discussion here http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Same-sex_marriage_in_Alagoas . The ruling document has been posted there, and now it seems the other people are getting over the language problem. Thanks for the help. Denisxavier (talk) 22:25, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Well, it looks like they're all done (ages ago). If you're still up for it, could you please fly through the articles and fill in the ticks? Many thanks. (If you can't for some reason, please let me know, and I will look after it.) Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:28, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

If you've got the time, can you produce an updated SVG version of this image with Inkscape?   — C M B J   13:23, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

you are strongly overestimating my abilities; I am just capable of using the outdated wp:GunnMap for which unfortunately the svg version doesn't seem to work...) ([ http://gunn.co.nz/map here]) Cheers! L.tak (talk) 15:25, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
I bet you're more capable than you think! Inkscape's not all that bad, but you can actually make these maps from a text editor, too. Steps 2 & 3 in this howto can show you how to fill regions of a blank SVG map with 6-digit web colors (see here for a cool custom mixer). In essence, turning Poland from gray to magenta is as simple as changing:

DMCA Takedown

Next time you send DMCA notices to Google try not to misrepresent yourself as an official member of the Wikimedia Foundation, please. There are better ways to bring someone into license compliance. Such as trying to work with them first. In the future, please post any suspected copyright or licensing issues to WP:CP before attempting any resolutions yourself. 173.78.231.69 (talk) 05:12, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing me to the right page there. I really had no idea what the procedure was and indeed they might have been able to confront the infringer. I still think I was formally right however: if I am the sole contributor, I am still allowed to use my own text and claim my rights. I gave it under CCby to wikipedia, but retained my own rights of course. I thus did not reclaimed as an official member, but as myself and indicated that clearly in the notice.. L.tak (talk) 08:27, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
I am not entirely certain if that is indeed the correct page so, take it with a grain of sodium chloride. :) When in doubt consult an admin or WP:IRC for further clarification about recommended procedure and general best practice. The "sender" information in the DMCA Notice clearly states "wikimedia foundation" so you are in error, at least in that regard. I understand your will to enforce your copyleft on said content but, be aware of their fair dealing and fair use rights as well. Consider using DMCA Notices as a last resort should the offending party refuse to come into compliance after all other avenues have been exhausted. 173.78.231.69 (talk) 09:00, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Well, in the text that I added, I clearly stated that I was not wikimedia foundation; so this must be auto-added fields. Fair use is indeed something to consider (fair dealing seems not to aply in the US), but this was blatant integral copy-pasting without critical commentary or sourcing (that's plagiarism in my book). The only thing required was sourcing, but unfortunately the website owner plainly took the site down (I said so: ""Attribution (of wikipedia, by proxy they attribute me in their system) is therefore a requirement."") instead of making a warning or sending the concern on. I will be more gentil in the future however approaching copyvios as I have seen how non-reading they only result in plain deletion and that was never my goal... L.tak (talk) 11:41, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
PS: I now see that the lead first sentence is online again. Not copied completely anymore, but still: no commentary or attribution. Shall I leave a friendly comment asking for attribution; let's see if that works? L.tak (talk) 11:43, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, there seems to be much more wrong. Over 10 pages are copied without attribution (and also here: no fair use). See for example this page, compared with Vienna Convention on Consular Relations this one. I'll raise it at CP and see what they do... L.tak (talk) 12:06, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Agreed that it's worse than first appeared. They seem to ripoff other writers content wholesale with the rest of their articles as well. Did you ever find out what the proper procedure is for this kind of stuff? There are several for profit commercial entities that I take issue with (presumably/potentially) doing far worse in regard to license compliance. 173.78.231.69 (talk) 08:18, 1 April 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.228.153.216 (talk)

Thanks for bringing back Tourist Attraction Rating Categories of China. It was a shame when that article got deleted last semester, because it's useful information for many a foreign tourist. Njnu-ban-xueshenghao (talk) 13:16, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome. I forgot about how this played out exactly last semester. I Remember I was asking for it, but thought it was never created; anyway, its notability is so evident... Can I ask you to provide a chinese translation of the name and suggest the best translation in English? The problem with this type of things is that it is not easy to find because of a multitude of translations (also scenic spots etc is used). Rgds! L.tak (talk) 13:44, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
One student tried, and did a reasonably good job of it, from what I recall; but it got Afded and she didn't defend it. I think the translation is pretty good; the word is technically "Scenic Areas" but that designation would not apply as well as "Tourist Attraction" for many of the places concerned.

Hello! Thanks for your edit. http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Wang_Zigan&diff=487142041&oldid=487140001 But I think my writting is correct. Both Feburary and February are correct. And can you tell me where did you find the information about the book? I'm just trying to make sure if 方阳 is one of the authors. Thanks! :) --NNUR06LizaZhang21081235 (talk) 16:48, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

well, I have never heard of feburary and think that -if it is correct- it is not regularly applied. See for example Month, where it is not mentioned... As for the ref; you might be right and I misinterpreted the authorship (I don't speak chinese, so it always is a challenge). I will change that... L.tak (talk) 16:55, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
my link comes from clicking the isbn link. it is here. But, it is more logic to take as title: The art of paper cut and author: Wang Zigan... Feel free to change! L.tak (talk) 16:57, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

oh... you are right, feburary sounds strange.... What language do you speak then? (or where are you from?) I thought your are all Chinese... How did you become the HELPER? ;) --NNUR06LizaZhang21081235 (talk) 17:19, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Good news! You now have access to 80 million articles in 6500 publications through HighBeam Research. Here's what you need to know:

  • Your account activation code has been emailed to your Wikipedia email address.
    • Only 407 of 444 codes were successfully delivered; most failed because email was simply not set up (You can set it in Special:Preferences).
    • If you did not receive a code but were on the approved list, add your name to this section and we'll try again.
  • The 1-year, free period begins when you enter the code.
  • To activate your account: 1) Go to http://www.highbeam.com/prof1; 2) You’ll see the first page of a two-page registration. 3) Put in an email address and set up a password. (Use a different email address if you signed up for a free trial previously); 4) Click “Continue” to reach the second page of registration; 5) Input your basic information; 6) Input the activation code; 7) Click “Finish”. Note that the activation codes are one-time use only and are case-sensitive.
  • If you need assistance, email "help at highbeam dot com", and include "HighBeam/Wikipedia" in the subject line. Or go to WP:HighBeam/Support, or ask User:Ocaasi. Please, per HighBeam's request, do not call the toll-free number for assistance with registration.
  • A quick reminder about using the account: 1) try it out; 2) provide original citation information, in addition to linking to a HighBeam article; 3) avoid bare links to non-free HighBeam pages; 4) note "(subscription required)" in the citation, where appropriate
  • HighBeam would love to hear feedback at WP:HighBeam/Experiences
  • Show off your HighBeam access by placing {{User:Ocaasi/highbeam_userbox}} on your userpage
  • When the 1-year period is up, check applications page to see if renewal is possible. We hope it will be.

Thanks for helping make Wikipedia better. Enjoy your research! Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 20:49, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Could you please join the discussion on the article talk page? Please note that maintenance templates should not be removed until the dispute has been settled, hence {{uw-tdel1}}, {{uw-tdel2}}, {{uw-tdel3}}, {{uw-tdel4}}. --Ronz (talk) 04:23, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Jiangnan Examination Hall

I see you started it. Just wondering if it's xlation class or not. It has a zh articles. Anyhow, it exists in the main list at article management. Keep up the good work. You are awesome. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anna Frodesiak (talkcontribs)

I forgot the template indeed; it is from the translation class and was requested at at the help NNU page. Cheers! L.tak (talk) 13:14, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
I moved it to the zh table.
I've been staying away from the help page. I haven't even been watching what's happened there. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:23, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Appreciation!

Thanks for your instructions and patience! We've noticed that our article was approved to go to DYK, which is really inspiring. Our team members are all quite exited about this, even though we may have done not that well in Josh's midterm... and my German... Anyhow, thank you very much! ≧▽≦

It seems that is is through indeed. I suspect it will be on the main page for 8 hours in about 26 hours from now (1am GMT18 April). Congratulations to all of you on a job well done. I am quite impressed by the quality of your work (both in wikipedia-things and English translation skills...)... L.tak (talk) 22:22, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for feedback and

Thanks for giving us feedback and suggestions about the Yang Huanyi article. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/NNU_Class_Project/Winter_2012/Drafts/Yang_Huanyi

Here is my confusion and don't know.

1.I don't know how to format the references.

2."proficient" can be adjective.

3."millet" is a kind of crop. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNUCSL10VeraLiu24110114 (talkcontribs)

Dear Vera. It is improved indeed! I have filled out the references for you and made alink to millet. Two more things to do: i) remove the links for Nüshu: 1 link per article is the maximum... and in the references, please provide a translation for the chinese titles... Furthermore, "Enter 20 centuries 90 time, Yang was the only descendent of Nüshu." is not clear to me; can you rephrase?
As for "proficient": yes, it can only be adiective, but you use it not that way. I think: you should use: "proficient user" or "proficient speaker and writer" instead of just "proficient"... good luck! L.tak (talk) 09:29, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you again

Thank you for all the suggestions.

1. I have removed unnecessary links for Nüshu, and actually I think it unnecessary to link every Nüshu too.

2."Enter 20 centuries 90 time, Yang was the only descendent of Nüshu." This sentence means when it came to the 1990s, after other proficient users of Nüshu passed away, Yang was the only descendent of Nüshu. Maybe there is something wrong with the way I represent it.

3."in the references, please provide a translation for the chinese titles..." You mean the translation of the thtles of the passage? I provide the translation at the reference colomn? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NNUCSL10VeraLiu24110114 (talkcontribs) 09:20, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

3. I mean translation of the title of the newspaper/website you cite (not the passage that is important, just the translation of the chinese title you have typed). I have indicated the places where that is needed at (TRANSLATION HERE) etc. If you click "edit" and then look for those instances; you can easily find them (I guess).
2. If you use 20 centuries, you should use "the 20th century" (otherwise you mean "20 centuries" = 20*100=2000 years!). Your explanation on this page is much better than what you wrote in the article. You can write: "By the end of the 20th century" or "during the 1990s", after other users of Nushu had passed away, Yang was the only proficient user of Nushu (NB: descendent means son/daughter etc, you use it too broad...)
1 good...

Good luck! L.tak (talk) 09:30, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Zanzibar women's national football team

Thank you for taking the time to fix the problems identified in Zanzibar women's national football team. These were not intentionally and normally, I am better at having source matching. (Though fluidity of my prose is a problem.) Hopefully, these fixes will help it get past WP:GAN at some point as I really like seeing women's topics in places like Africa improved. --LauraHale (talk) 23:40, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

He Laura, I am sure they weren't; it's a pitty that changing a hook after approving happens in a bit more visible environment than otherwise; but the article as it stands now is interesting and very informative. And it is indeed countering the Western+Male bias that we have in (en-) wikipedia, which is a very good thing (it's my main motivation to help out getting more Chinese articles in mainspace with the NNU class project). And as for fluidity; I am struggling to keep my Dutch out my writing which is a guarantee for much worse prose! L.tak (talk) 09:09, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Edit warring

Thank you for the message. I have read up about the policies surrounding edit warring, 3RR, etc. My conclusion is that your actions are inappropriate. While I did edit war in the past, lately I have not violated any 3RR policies or even 1RR. On the other hand, your revert without any discussion on the talk page is not only hypocritical based on what you told me, but also edit warring yourself. I have at least engaged in discussion on the talk page. You have not. You simply reverted without any justification. Undoing edit warring is not proper justification for reverting. It takes 2 parties to edit war, and by reverting you are joining the 2nd party and assuming that their edit is correct. You have the right to that opinion, but not the right to revert without providing any justification. Palestine is by no means a sovereign nation. It does not control its land or have internationally recognized borders. Their symbolic declaration of independence in 1988 did not have any effect on the world map. Palestine does not appear on world maps today for that reason. What does often appear on world maps are the West Bank and Gaza, which is why I have made sure these territories appear in the article in the appropriate dates. As you mentioned in your message, consensus should be built on the talk page among multiple editors. I made an attempt to discuss and compromise on the talk page, and the other editors did not join so consensus is impossible. I have my justification, pointed out the reasons why Palestine is not sovereign and did not represent a world map change, and noted that I welcome other editors to provide a source if they want to include the disputed content. No other editors have done any of this. As such, the content is incorrect and unsourced, and you have reinserted it into the article. I invite you to self-revert or provide the needed references to back up your apparent position that Palestine is a sovereign nation that constitutes a world map change. 99.237.236.218 (talk) 18:09, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

My justification was simple: you inserted 3 times within a week without using talk. Then I just go back to the most stable version and that was the one with Palestine. I have no opinion on whether to remove it or not, but will not allow people to add it or remove something which was stable without getting consensus. I will therefore not self-revert. Should you revert, then I will notify the edit warring noticeboard... L.tak (talk) 18:19, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

NNU wrap-up time is May 30

Hello. There are still some articles at Wikipedia:School and university projects/NNU Class Project/Winter 2012/Student list that need moving to the mainspace. Some have rubbish references and could be AfDd, so best not move those. But many just need a bit of cleanup and a move. If you have time to do a few, we would be much obliged. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:46, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Schengen Area

Thank you for sharing your opinion on talk page of Schengen Area. Please do not involve in vandalism on the Schengen Area map and try to find a consensus to implement new changes. Clearly we don't see any reason why we should implement Ro and Bg to the main map. Be careful not to edit articles without consensus. Thank you.--Camoka4 (talk) 21:22, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

For real? It is you that tries to change things without consensus. I "just" reverted" See Talk:Schengen Area where now 2 editors have indicated you are acting against consensus... Furthermore, I don't think it is proper to label a content dispute vandalism...L.tak (talk) 21:25, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes you changed something which has existed for some days, so you need a consensus for your edit.--Camoka4 (talk) 21:57, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Some days? You changed the image "23:53, 6 June 2012 CET". I reverted within 24 hours of that... L.tak (talk) 22:02, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Do you have Skype? Can we discuss it there? I have trouble because there is conversation going on over 3 different boards here.--Camoka4 (talk) 22:19, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Add me on Skype: ali.carikcioglu .I'm really tired of this revert game.--Camoka4 (talk) 22:22, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
My advice for when you come back from your block: re-read the discussion(s) at Talk:Schengen Area with a cool head and see what my position was, and determine what consensus is, don't make personal attacks, don't accuse others of vandalism and don't make false accusations anymore (that I don't discuss (see WP:BRD), that I started this all, that I changed something that "had existed for some days". Frankly, I am never interested in using Skype with other wikipedians, especially not those that are behaving against civility rules. L.tak (talk) 05:12, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Frankly, I am never interested in using Skype with other wikipedians, especially not those that are behaving against civility rules. blah blah blah... there is a button called block on Skype, but you are too narrow minded and you don't have any courage for this either. You are just another whiny little teenager cry baby who has no life no friends. Your whole purpose is to sit on wikipedia 7/24, trying to fullfill your complexes. Now I know you're going to file another girly complaint about me, which will prove my case even more :) It's funny and I'm laughing at your gay behaviour.--Camoka4 (talk) 14:00, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
You needed 6 edits for that very mature comment? Congratulations on finally succeeding! With gay regards! L.tak (talk) 15:45, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
So you're gay? I knew it! --Camoka4 (talk) 17:09, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
