[edit]Hello! I am one of the online mentors, and I am interested in helping your students with their conservation biology course. I do a lot of writing about lemurs and national parks in Madagascar (such as Marojejy National Park), so there are a lot of articles under the topic of conservation biology that I would like to see get some attention. Several of these articles are quite general, and some of the best sources for very broad academic topics are (multiple) textbooks. The more specific topics require searching the academic literature using your university's library or something like Google Scholar. Some news stories can and should be included, but for topics as broad as this, I would strongly discourage web sources (unless it's a news story from a reliable source). I say this because the students I worked with last semester almost exclusively used the Internet as their research tool and tried citing unreliable sources, such as blogs. Honestly, if your students can find good academic sources, your class could have a lot of potential. I would particularly like to see them work on the broad topics. Although they are more challenging, I'm not expecting perfection, plus their access to the latest textbooks gives them an advantage in working on these articles.
Anyway, this list is just a starting point. By the time I started wearing down from the search, I came across this list, which may also help: Index of conservation articles
Also, although it's unreasonable to expect good article or featured article quality from the students, I would suggest pointing them to existing recognized content to give them ideas on how to cover a topic, handle pictures, create proper citations, etc. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but these are the articles I'm most familiar with (because I wrote them):

- The World's 25 Most Endangered Primates
- Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary
- Seacology
- Illegal logging in Madagascar—this article was not promoted over scope, title, and possible neutrality issues... but illustrates good layout and comprehensiveness... though not entirely up-to-date...
