Lady Paula Merry

[edit]

Hi. I saw the discussion concerning the notability of Lady Paula Merry. You're right about a few things: most Wikipedia editors share a common background, and they've never heard of a lot of things that are "notable" to many African-Americans. You might want to read Wikipedia:WikiProject Countering systemic bias; it helps remind me sometimes that I'm not alone in feeling that way.

But the other editors are also right: articles in Wikipedia need to be "attributed" to "reliable sources," and a self-published book (or an author's website or blog) isn't considered a good source. The policy concerning sources is here.

Keep in mind that reliable sources don't have to be on the internet. If Merry has been the subject of a newspaper or magazine article, you can use that as a reference. If her book was reviewed or mentioned somewhere, that might be a reference. Again, these things don't have to be on the web.

Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 16:46, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Betty Brock Bell

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Betty Brock Bell, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Betty Brock Bell. brewcrewer (yada, yada) 07:21, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello KwabenaShabazz! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 331 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Jew Don Boney - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Clarence Bradford - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dorrance Publishing Co. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. SarekOfVulcan (talk) 16:30, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
