CD Audio
Hi. Thanks for your recent edits on many classical music-related articles! May I ask you why you replaced CD Audio with compact disc? I feel compact disc is less precise (after all, they weren't released as data discs). Ron Oliver (talk) 19:27, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Ron Oliver CD audio redirects to Compact Disc Digital Audio which is a fairly technical article describing the format for storing audio on a compact disc. In the context where I made these changes, I think this level of technicality will confuse readers; a compact disc or CD is what people are what I think music buyers would most readily identify. Let me know if you disagree and I can help revert. ~Kvng (talk) 14:56, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- It's not such a big problem, but I always make a specific reference to whether it is a CD Audio, an Super Audio CD, or other types of formats. I agree that the CDDA article is rather technical, but it is the one that most accurately represents reality. I do not necessarily disagree with your explanation, and I won't ask for a mass revert, because the contributions were useful, but I guess I'll keep using the CDDA link on any new articles I may create. I just find it helpful.ย :) Ron Oliver (talk) 20:42, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

Hey, Kvng,
I see a big red error message by your talk page comment, there might be a problem with the wikicode you used or maybe you need to just use a regular tilde signature. By the way, I look at a lot of PRODs every day and most times when they are de-PROD'd, the editor just leaves a comment in an edit summary and doesn't leave a talk page statement but do what you want to do! Lately, there have been dozens of PRODs on little-watched TV shows, from TV series on country channels to reality shows to music programs to game shows to sport shows. So, it looks like this article was part of that bunch we've had over the past two weeks. Take care, Liz Read! Talk! 21:22, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, it looks like this error message is true for Talk:Enjoying Everyday Life, Talk:San Bernardino County Probation Department and Talk:Guatemalan Canadians too, but Talk:Honduran Canadians and Talk:Comedy Underground with Dave Attell notices look okay. Liz Read! Talk! 21:23, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- If you are interested in articles that have been recently deleted by PROD, de-PROD'd or taken AFD, I know User:SDZeroBot maintains a list that goes at least one week back at User:SDZeroBot/PROD Watch/last week. If you are interested in further back, just go into the page history and look at the previous update. Liz Read! Talk! 21:35, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Liz: I'm using {{subst:ISO date}} to help fill {{Old prod}} and something is going wrong with that recently and until I can be bothered to figure that out, things will be a little messy. Sorry.
- Things seem to be out of balance again at PROD. I've posted some thoughts at Wikipedia_talk:Proposed_deletion#Imbalance and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Proposed_deletion_patrolling#Tools_arms_race.
- I use User:SDZeroBot and didn't realize it had some history. The main problem is I can't determine whether deletion was appropriate if I can't view the deleted article. ~Kvng (talk) 21:45, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- I suggest using the deleted-metadata-link script. It's not the same thing as viewing deleted content but still ... โ SD0001 (talk) 16:38, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

- The nice thing about SDZeroBot's report is that it will show you the pages that were de-PROD'd and also those that were de-PROD'd and taken to AFD. Although TenPoundHammer isn't the only editor who tags dozens of articles with Proposed deletion tags, he has been an extremely active PRODder this spring and you can see some discussions about his levels of PROD activity at his talk page. I started a discussion about this subject way back in April here because there are only a couple of admins who regularly review PRODs and the volume of work was just too much for one or two admins to handle. The subject might have even gone to ANI, I'm not sure, but a lot of the deletion activity has been moved from PRODs to AFDs. One of the main complaints I saw is that instead of deletion, these pages should have been turned into redirects that pointed back to the TV networks the shows were part of. Liz Read! Prods
Is there a reason you're mass-deprodding everything? Ten Pound Hammer โข (What did I screw up now?) 23:56, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- @TenPoundHammer, I have not done any patrolling for over a year. I happen have some time on my hands for WP:PRODPATROL. PROD is for uncontroversial deletions and the stuff I'm DEPRODding is potentially controversial. Without WP:PRODPATROL activity, editors seem to forget this point so yeah, based on my exprience there's a lot in the PROD queue that shouldn't be. ETA: I am not deprodding everything and I am not exclusively targeting your PRODs. ~Kvng (talk) 00:06, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Speaking as someone whose PROD you removed just before it would've gone through, it would be nice if you'd at least try and help out w/ the articles you deprod. You took the PRD off of an article that was nothing but a 1,200 word plot summary w/ no proper sources. Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 00:48, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- I can't speak for Kvng but I've seen this response from other editors when they see the volume of PRODs at a higher level than they expect. Outside of recent surges, there are typically anywhere from 15 to 30 PRODs per day which can allow for careful review from editors who monitor PRODs. But when they notice a higher volume of PRODs in a surge, there seems to be the response to de-PROD and figure out what to do (improve the article, redirect the page, take it to AFD) later. You've seen this reaction before in recent months, TenPoundHammer. Liz Read! Talk! 01:37, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Just Another Cringy Username I've never felt an obligation to improve articles that others want to delete WP:NOTCLEANUP. Most of my Wikipedia work is improving articles where I have expertise. I have felt an obligation to provide a rationale for DEPRODding and I've even tried to help with transparency by keeping records. I have also made it a point in the past to participate in AfD discussions for articles I've DEPRODded. But. like @Liz said, there is a surge going on so I've streamlined my process. ~Kvng (talk) 02:16, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Which is why there are articles w/ 15 year old maintenance tags. I imagine now the article in question will sit there gathering dust for another decade or so before someone tries to AfD it and the Nervous Nellies say, "Oh, dear, no, you can't do that!" Perfect example: The Virgin Queen of St. Francis High is on it's third AfD and people are still voting "keep." Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 02:24, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- OK so maybe we should spend more time improving articles and less time fighting about deleting them. ~Kvng (talk) 02:55, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

Request on 01:54:36, 13 June 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Jonathan M Wheeler
- Jonathanย Mย Wheelerย (talkย ยท contribs)
Thank you for volunteering your time to review this submission.
I have worked with several historians, librarians, and alumni to collect as much information as I can. I was hoping that the 1946 Stanford University masters thesis would qualify as significant independent coverage of the school, and that the other newspapert articles (e.g., the 1971 Palo Alto Times article that discusses the fire that destroyed the school-owned gymnasium and auditorium) would also count as independent significant coverage.
How many independent sources would you consider to be the minimum number to satisfy the standards for this article? If it's 4, I believe I have 3, and would have to spend only a few more hours searching for something else... Perhaps you can give me recommendations for where to look. Are modern newspaper articles about the school's sports program the type of citations that you're after?

reverted edit on reverb
Hey, sorry to bother you, but can you look more closely when reverting edits? Why is there a separate heading for convolution reverb, but convolution reverb is also described under digital reverbs in the article? That one photo on the left makes the page look messy, but if that was the issue for you, you can just specifically change that rather than reverting the edit. Thanks in advance, and have a nice day. --Violarulez (talk) 23:36, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Violarulez your edit comment was
cleaned it up a little, didn't change any content
but you deleted a sentence about Convolution reverb which looked to me to be a content changeย โ perhaps a desirable content change if I had reviewed the rest of the article. Whether you've made a layout improvement will depend on the width of your screen so moving them all to the right is not clearly an improvement. ~Kvng (talk) 03:03, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
"IP Camera" Article Follow-up
Dear Kvng,
I hope everything is well with you.
Just a quick follow-up regarding the IP Camera article. The info-box specifies:
- "Languages" - not a language but a Command Protocols such as ONVIF and PSIA which only a limited section of enterprise equipment use. What about REST that many cloud devices use?
- Ports such as Ethernet, Audio, and I/O which not all IP cameras have such as consumer grade cloud-based cameras (e.g. most common cloud doorbells). Some devices even have SFP connectors for interconnecting other devices between multiple interfaces.
- Slots such as SD Card which most IP cameras have but what about slots such as USB which many IP cameras use?
I think that by including an info-box with this information can be misleading as not all devices have features such as the ones listed above. Said interfaces are only offered by some companies. Do you think we should keep the info-box the way it is or modify it to become more general or and add more information to it?
Take care, have a great one. Parxson (talk) 20:38, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Kvng,
I saw your comemnts regarding Draft:Insects in Japanese culture on the draft creator's Talk page and I just wanted to say that I appreciate your work, reviewing soon-to-be-expiring draft articles. I know I'm kind of on the opposite side of this subject, since I spend much of the day deleting these pages, but I am always glad to see your edits (and DGG's) that stay deletion so the promising articles can be improved.
To be honest, most of the pages that I delete are not at all like Draft:Insects in Japanese culture, they are in very bad shape, I see a lot of autobiographies on wannabe internet influencers or rappers or empty sandboxes that for some reason were submitted to AFC even though they are blank, pages that do not hold any potential to be moved to main space. But I'd say that maybe 1 out of 20 drafts holds a bit of promise that it could eventually be more than an abandoned draft page. It's pages like this that keep WP:REFUND a busy noticeboard but it's great when they are edited before they are deleted. I delay some that I see but it always helps to have a few more eyes on this forgotten area of the project. I assume you are looking at the reports issued by SDZeroBot which does a good job of highlighting better drafts on its User:SDZeroBot/G13 soon report. Thanks again! Liz Read! Talk! 00:21, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, yes I have been watching User:SDZeroBot/G13 soon, also doing WP:PRODPATROL. I wish there wasn't such pressure to delete stuff; I'd prefer to spend my time improving existing articles. ~Kvng (talk) 02:53, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, right now, deletionists are more persistent than inclusionists who need to prove notability at deletion discussions when deletionists can just say that the articles don't demonstrate GNG. I don't really understand the passion some folks have for tagging pages for deletion but I'm duty-bound to follow the guidelines we have set up.
- It can be interesting to check out Deletion review and see whether folks are more upset when pages are deleted, when they think they shouldn't have been or when pages aren't deleted when people think they should have been. The harshest case I was involved in was when I closed an AFD as "No consensus" and folks were very unhappy with what I thought was a pretty neutral decision. It got fairly vicious. Liz Read! Talk! 04:11, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, AfD is not a happy place. That's why I'd prefer to spend my time improving articles. ~Kvng (talk) 14:27, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Hey just wanna let you know @Maestro2016 has been banned for being sock puppet of Jagged 85, a well known vandal [[1]]. Re:mitm
Even if you would argue that the cited attack is a mitm (and by reverting you are, since it's not a claim by the source), you will grant that it's not a classic mitm, which makes it a bad candidate to lead an examples section.
I see lots of reasons it differs from a typical mitm attack:
1- The would be attacker is not in the middle, it does not relay information back and forth between both parties, there is no receiving party.
2- The would be attacker is not an eavesdropper, but a legitimate relay, the contents being read are headers, metadata, dns addresses. It's like a mailman reading the return address, not like a mailman breaking the envelope.
3- the would be attacker is not stealthy, it does not impersonate the intended recipient (there is no recipient).
To continue the mailman analogy, in a mitm, the mailman would need to break the envelope seal with vapour, inspect the contents of the envelope, optionally tamper the contents, reseal and deliver it, all of this in secret.
If you rerevert the edit, I'll fix turn that red link into blue, and perhaps we can find a more relevant example for the article. TZubiri (talk) 08:25, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Kvng,
I have no problem with you de-PRODding articles or finding an alternative to deletion. But on this article, whose PROD deletion rationale stated that it was promotional, you stated this wasn't a valid reason for deletion according to Wikipedia:Deletion policy#Reasons for deletion. But on this list are all of the reasons for speedy deletion (like CSD G11) as well as advertising (#4) which in G11 is used interchangeably with "promotional". This doesn't invalidate you removing the PROD tag from the article (which you don't need to produce a reason for) but I just wanted to mention that an article being judged promotional is a reason for all types of deletion, from CSD and PROD to AFD.
Thanks for providing an alternative view toward deletion that sometimes isn't as present in the AFD area as I'd like to see. Liz Read! Talk! 20:44, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Liz, I believe the policy wording is
unambiguously promotional
and if that describes it, it should go to WP:CSD (not PROD). Articles with a promotional tone, especially short ones like this can be fixed with a little TLC from an uninvolved editor (see WP:DEMOLISH). ~Kvng (talk) 21:44, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

It looks like the SPA user:Mitchdonnahue has a conflict of interest here. Can we do something about this? They are wasting reviewers' time. Can we do something about this? Or is there a number of rejected submissions after which the draft is nuked? Loew Galitz (talk) 17:11, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Loew Galitz if an author has to wait 3 months for each review this is usually self-limiting. It got a review by me and DGG in July because our efforts overlapped. I'm not sure why Akevsharma didn't let it sit in the queue longer. There are improvements being made between submissions so I don't think it calls for a reject. ~Kvng (talk) 18:40, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

Icertis
You've said your advocating for the COI editor. I think you should behave as if you had a COI as well, even if this dispute hadn't gone as it has. Please stop edit-warring. You've no consensus.
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Icertis. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Redirect of r/fuckcars article
Hi! Thanks for your attention to the r/fuckcars article. I saw you removed the proposed deletion tag on it, which I was hoping to do later today myself. Just now, however, User:Fram deleted the content and placed a redirect to r/place which seems a bit out of place, given that it does not actually directly relate to that article/topic and is not notable for that reason. I changed the redirect to point to Car-free movement which seems like a better fit, yet I still believe the article may be able to stand on its own. I left some more comments on their talk page if you want to chime in as someone else involved in its recent editing history/review, or if you have any advice on how to proceed here and would like to discuss further. Thank you! โFpmfpm (talk) 07:48, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on List of Omani Governorates by Human Development Index requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. is WP:OR (the source talks about IPng). A lot of unreferenced statements. Please undo yourself or make the corrections (WP:BURDEN). 84.250.14.116 (talk) 02:32, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

@Kvng I'd like additional input on the Disability Management Employer Coalition page and why you are rejecting the page. They are a well-known not-for-profit organization who are well known in their respective field. I recently added reference to a new article highlighting DMECs 30-year contribution to the Human Resource field. Will this be enough to get the page approved? I wonder how this page get rejected when other organizations, such as the American Payroll Association have bene approved with no 3rd party references. Please advise.
Jeffb347 (talk) 21:13, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Jeffb347, I'm sorry I did not leave any notes on this review. Can you help me by identifying the WP:THREE best sources that demonstrate notabilty? ~Kvng (talk) 02:36, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Kvng
- Reference 4 ("DMEC at 30: How This Female-Led Organization Changed the Disability Management Landscape". Risk & Insurance. 2022-07-21. Retrieved 2022-07-31.) gives a great summary of the 30-year contributions of DMEC.
- References 10 - 15 show that this is a group broadly sought to provide insight into key Human Resource topics -- being referenced and quoted in the Wall Street Journal, as well as many other industry-specific locations.
- Reference 18 - Bloomberg Law.
- This seems very consistent with references for SHRM, which is a published page, and much better than the page on American Payroll Association, for example. Jeffb347 (talk) 22:25, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Jeffb347, thanks for that. I'm afraid comparisons to existing articles are not helpful, see WP:OTHERSTUFF.
- [3] is good. [4] is written by the DMEC CEO so not WP:INDEPENDENT.
- [5] just has a few quotes from the CEO so not WP:SIGCOV.
- [6] just mentions a report. I'm not clear if there's more behind a paywall but what I see isn't significant.
- [7] is a passing mention.
- [8] and [9] are behind a paywall so I can't assess WP:SIGCOV. What is your assessment?
- In summary, we have one reference providing evidence of notability, 3-4 that aren't helping and 2-3 that I can't evaluate. For articles on organizations, I like to see 3 references that clearly indicate notability. ~Kvng (talk) 13:39, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Jeffb347, thanks for that. I'm afraid comparisons to existing articles are not helpful, see WP:OTHERSTUFF.
Harvey Tweats and Tom Whitehurst
Hi. Regarding the redirect you put on Harvey Tweats and Tom Whitehurst. Where is the "substantive page history"? It's a vanity article with three edits before I nominated for deletion. And the content of those edits are pretty much a repeat of what Celtic Reptile & Amphibian says, the article subjects having no notability outside of that. Per talk page, the subject was acquitted of criminal charges and does not appear to have any notability beyond this event. The event is more appropriately covered at Bancopoli

Mass unsourced deletions
Thanks for restoring the two mass unsourced deletions. IMO most unsourced tags are applied to material that, to one informed in the art, is either obvious or can be sourced with a bit of effort. In the latter case, I usually have better things to do with my time. Tom94022 (talk) 19:47, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Tom94022, these sort of edits are apparently part of a new norm for Wikipedia. See the discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#User:Nightscream_still_on_another_WP:DE_/_WP:POINTY_roll ~Kvng (talk) 03:08, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
Restoring challenged content without citations
Hi Kvng, during a noticeboard discussion about the behavior, you seem to have restored unsourced, challenged material at 8-track tape. As this isn't compatible with WP:BURDEN and WP:ONUS, I have reverted the change; you are welcome to provide a citation and/or obtain a consensus for inclusion on the article's talk page, where a discussion section about the material already exists without reply.
While the way in which Nightscream performed at least some of the removals was disruptive and incivil, this is hardly a justification by itself for restoring challenged content in unmodified form. If you have good reasons for restoring such content beyond "this is currently being discussed at ANI", please explicitly provide them instead of pointing towards an unfinished discussion about one specific user's conduct.
I understand that this is probably rather frustrating and upsetting, but enforcing core policies such as the verifiability policy sometimes unavoidably makes even experienced editors upset. This is not my intention, but it's a cost I'm willing to pay if necessary. So please don't continue restoring challenged material in unmodified form.
Thanks and best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:52, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- @ToBeFree Yes, it is frustrating. I will remove these articles from my watchlist. Maybe that will help. ~Kvng (talk) 03:05, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- @ToBeFree Why is reverting a "disruptive and incivil" action not permitted, particularly since the core principles say that unsourced material may be removed not "shall" be removed and both WP:BURDEN and WP:PRESERVE require the material remain unless there is an expressed concern which did not exist in the material you reverted. It seems this disruptive behavior will result in less involvement by editors like Kvng and loss of valid material from articles. Tom94022 (talk) 15:21, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Tom94022, because we're building an encyclopedia and Wikipedia is not a battleground, the mere disruptiveness or incivility of an editor is usually not reason by itself for a revert of the affected article content. On the English Wikipedia, perhaps the only notable exception to this principle is that the banning and blocking policies allow reverting sockpuppets' contributions just for being sockpuppets' contributions. This rare exception is also mentioned in the speedy deletion policy (WP:G5) and the edit warring policy (WP:3RRNO#3). It does not apply to good-faith disagreement about content between experienced editors in good standing. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:47, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Hosiden connectors
Hi Kvng, Fist, please apologize my poor English.ย ;) The attribution to these "Hosiden" connector is published for instance, in the text details of this official Pattent record, hereย : https://patents.google.com/patent/US20050134746 (at the en of 0013 partย : "Each connector also has an S-Video (Hosiden) connector 119.") At the opposite, there is no trace of any "mini" official reference of DIN (Deutsches Institut fรผr Normung) for that type of connectors. This is a very common error made by journalists and reporter during the 80's when S-Video equipment were first launched. Wikipedia has to be precise and accurate for genuine sources and names. Best regards. Tisourcier (talk) 14:36, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Tisourcier, Wikipedia is (ideally) based on WP:SECONDARY sources. So if journalists (secondary sources) have called it mini-DIN but it's labeled Hosiden in a patent (primary source), we go with mini-DIN. ~Kvng (talk) 15:02, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi Kvng, How are you? I'm a Synaptics employee and here as a representative of the company. You helped me a while back with some updates for the company history and I saw that you're interested in technology and audiovisual topics, so I hoped you'd be able to look at a request for the product information. Unlike my History request, I felt like it would be better for the Products if I wrote something from scratch since the current text is so reliant on Synaptics and included details that feel much too specific for an encyclopedia page. Hello - I have submitted a new draft of my page 'sustainable healthcare' and I have tried to address the feedback given by yourself and another editor (as well as being a lot shorter I have changed some bits about). List of programming languages
You've added Abstract-Type and Scheme-Definition Language to the List of programming languages, but is ASDL really a computer language? Reading the article, it appears to be more of a formalism for the development of IDEs. Specifically, it does not appear to meet the list's inclusion criterion of being executable. But I may not be reading the article or its sources correctly. Can you clarify? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:34, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- @WikiDan61, sorry not much to go on here. Might be best to delete Abstract-Type and Scheme-Definition Language because I'm not finding significant WP:INDEPENDENT coverage to help clarify how to classify this thing. ~Kvng (talk) 14:22, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Phonautograph
Kvng, please do not remove citation needed tags from articles unless/until the needed citations are provided, as you did with this edit to Phonoautography, which contained paragraphs of uncited material. Thank you. Nightscream (talk) 21:27, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Nightscream, my edit comment there was "sources seem generally good, please indicate any deficiencies inline". But instead of adding a {{cn}} you wholesale deleted uncited paragraphs. This is not respectful of the work of others. Please find the missing citations yourself or at least give others the opportunity to correct these deficiencies. I have restored the better paragraph and added a citation for it. ~Kvng (talk) 14:14, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Inclusion or exclusion of material is based on policy. Not on your ideas of "respecting the work of others."
- No, I'm not going to find citations myself. We were over this last year. It is not obligation to source material when I'm not the one who added it, and don't evne know if it's valid, and it's arrogant and clueless to argue that I am. It is the obligation of those who added it, or who favor its inclusion. Keeping it is a violation of policy. What part of this do you dispute? I asked you and others this question point blank repeatedly in that discussion we had, and you never answered it. Can you answer it now?
- You restored material with this added source, but that source makes no mention of a hand-crank, a motor, nor "dire effects". Nor is it appropriate to make observations as to whether any aspect of the sound quality is "unfortunatel". Please read WP:TONE and WP:NPOV. I've replaced that material with information that is actually at that cited source. Nightscream (talk) 01:12, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- I answered all of that in detail last year on your talk page and got silence.
- Thank you for improving the material I restored. I'll have a closer look in a few days. ~Kvng (talk) 13:02, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Use of {{updated}} tag in TRILL (computing)
Please add a section to Talk:TRILL (computing) to discuss the current state of competing standards. Kindly see the description of constructive tagging located at WP:DRIVEBYTAG. Simply asserting that something "must have changed by now" is not enough here; we need to point to evidence that the section is out-of-date first before marking it as such.
Thanks for your help and understanding! Davidpward (talk) 04:26, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Davidpward you seem to be very invested in this. I'm not going argue with you. I was just curious about the fate of SPB. It doesn't seem to have gone anywhere with the major network vendors but Wikipedia articles still make it sound like it's this new amazing thing. ~Kvng (talk) 15:41, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- I'm curious as well. I have no prior background with TRILL or similar standards, but I am trying to learn. I hope to find out the answer and update the page.
- I'll redo the edit for now if you have no objection - the issue is just that {{updated}} means something very specific on Wikipedia, and we aren't quite there yet. I wouldn't be surprised to find that this information does in fact need updating (at which point the tag is going on with those references). Davidpward (talk) 16:04, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
Reverted Edit
Hi Kvng,
I noticed that you reverted an edit I made on the Wireless USB article and wanted to ask you about it. I removed the bold for the inline text of "Media Agnostic USB" and "(MA USB)" where MOS:NOBOLD seemed to apply. In your revert comment you said that they redirect and showed links, but I don't see in the article where they actually are linked to anything. They're just bold words.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Edward Bednar (talk) 13:56, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Edward Bednar: Media Agnostic USB and MA USB are redirects to the section in Wireless USB containing these terms. It helps orient the reader to see these bold when they arrive. See MOS:BOLDREDIRECT for details. ~Kvng (talk) 14:03, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- How do/can I know they are redirects, though? I use the visual editor but also just checked the source and don't see where they link to anything.
- Edward Bednar (talk) 14:13, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Edward Bednar, you can use the What links here tool that is available as a link on the sidebar of every page. ~Kvng (talk) 14:15, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- I see that now. I think I'm getting closer to understanding and will always check for redirects before applying MOS:NOBOLD. But what's the background for how terms like these that are redirects get bolded? Is there a utility or something or is it just done manually by editors?
- I think that's my last question and I know what to do/not do now.
- Thanks again.
- Edward Bednar (talk) 14:25, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Edward Bednar, it is done manually by editors. Enjoy! ~Kvng (talk) 14:28, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Friendly reminder: you need to follow up with these edits you made. Article about Gravity Noir has been deleted
Dear @Kvng, you have helped me out more than once in the past. You may not immediately remember me and the article about Gravity Noir. But you're my only contact at this point who can save the article on Gravity Noir. Indeed, it was removed. I can't describe how much it hurts me. Especially since I have tried for years to adapt the article again and again and provide it with the necessary reliable sources. Adding new information apparently resulted in the article being removed. When the article was just posted years ago, it was nominated for deletion a first time. You then defended it and even gave the article a Class C status. I am accused of a conflict of interest. However, it was never my intention to give the impression of wanting to advertise for the band. I don't have a conflict of interest and don't edit for the purpose of advertising, publicising or promoting anyone or anything. Cross my heart and hope to die. I do like some of their songs. But to call me a fan or even to insinuate that I am the bandleader myself? As I stated before, I took up the challenge a few years ago to start up a page about a 90s music group that didn't have a page yet. I can only admit that my interest in the band goes no further than trying to improve the reliability of the wiki article and yes, I do go to great lengths sometimes. That's why I keep defending myself. I don't know why, but some wikipedia contributors, even with the best of intentions, seem so convinced they're right, that they even teeter on the edge of violating privacy. At the moment I am very impressed with it. Assume that wikipedia contributors will support, help, and advise each other. Enabling everything to make an article wiki worthy. But some are just out to crush items on the floor and have them removed. Not taking into account how much time and energy has already been put into a certain article. Moreover, the article about Gravity Noir is or was a translation of the Dutch Wikipedia. The translation into French has also caused no problems. Once again, I am deeply disappointed in some of the wikipedia contributors and administrators. Even the original talk page was immediately removed as well. Without any explanation, without any apology or right to an answer. I realize all that matters is to provide an article with enough reliable sources to make a page wiki worthy. Therefore, in the interest of the deleted article and a last effort to save it. Here is a list of the most reliable references.

@Kvng - I really hope this call for help reaches you and that you can prevent the article from being permanently removed. Please, after all the work and time I've put into it, you are my only hope. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my plea. With kind regards and best wishes. Trix18365 (talk) 09:09, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Trix18365, sorry you're upset about this. I'm afraid you were the only editor supporting the article at the deletion discussion. The others were quite critical and seemed to have good reason to be. There is a process for appealing deletions and you can try it but I very much doubt you will prevail. I would suggest you let this go and put your efforts elsewhere. If you are attached to this because of a WP:COI then you really need to let it go. ~Kvng (talk) 14:07, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- Dear @Kvng, I try to follow your advice and let it go. Yet it still hurts me a lot. Especially when people question my sincerity. Again, I have to say that I don't have a conflict of interest. You have always helped and supported me so far, which I really appreciate. What bothers me most about the whole issue is that some people make a game out of destroying as many articles as possible. They even go so far as to affect related articles. Meanwhile, the same individuals have removed all involvement with artists who do have a proven connection with Gravity Noir. In this case the group Banjax and the singer Ofra Haza. Like they want to erase history. It just proves that they want to erase all traces of their deliberate vandalism. On my talk page they even go so far as to label Ofra Haza's tragic death as 'but who cares, right?'. No respect for the deceased whatsoever. That they allow these things on wikipedia is completely incomprehensible to me. They add absolutely no value to articles for the sole purpose of destroying articles for their own pleasure. And that while I thought Wikipedia was strict but fair. Fortunately, there are still people like you who occasionally stand up for someone like myself and want to defend and protect articles. Even if they are less known than the great and famous, it does not make them less interesting for those who want to discover them. You have my respect and thank you for the support and help in the past. Kind regards, Trix18365 (talk) 08:31, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Whitespace
Blank lines above and below the lede are unwanted, why do you revert these?

- @Phiarc, this whitespace does not affect what readers see but helps editors find where the article text starts. There's no consensus on whether it should or should not be there but twiddling with it is not particularity productive. I appreciate that my reverting your changes isn't particularly productive either. Here's some recent discussion. ~Kvng (talk) 14:58, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

- That would be me. When I ran into some of those, I fixed the templates to make it a non-problem. A blank line there should be fine, so when it's not it needs to be fixed, and fixing it more permanently in the template with an extra return at the end seemed better than constraining editors to not put a blank line before the lead. I only fixed the ones I ran into. Dicklyon (talk) 22:26, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

- There's a CR at the end of {{Infobox media}}. Do I just remove that? ~Kvng (talk) 23:14, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
- I think you have to remove the CR before the line with the noinclude tag (that is, the noinclude should start at the end of a line, not on a new line). Try it. Dicklyon (talk) 00:21, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- Reminiscent of <?php and "headers already sent" warnings Phiarc (talk) 16:51, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- It looks like it was that way up until the lastest edit to the template source. Dicklyon (talk) 00:37, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- This change worked. I have restored the two video articles. ~Kvng (talk) 14:09, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Greetings. I don't know the etiquette here, but I had marked Nitinol_60 for deletion and gave reasons. You simply deleted the mark, and did not comment why in the article. Can you explain here? History merge
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Kanik a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. --evrikย (talk) 20:00, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Belle Stars song articles
Hello; I see that you've overturned my requests to delete articles about The Belle Stars' singles that I created when I was ten years old. I believe you have cited their chart positions in the UK as an indicator of notability, but I do not believe this to be a good indicator of notability considering the fact that most of the singles only appear to have charted in the UK or Ireland and there are very few secondary sources mentioning the songs that I can find online. Several songs which only had limited worldwide success do not have articles. I believe that "Sign of the Times" is the only Belle Stars song that truly merits an article of its own as it charted highly in the UK as well as in several other territories. At the end of the day, I think that the articles should only be kept if they can be drastically improved. Yellowfrog81 (talk) 01:20, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Yellowfrog81, thanks for contacting me. WP:NSONG indicates these are potentially notable subjects so deleting these articles is potentially controversial so WP:PROD is not the appropriate venue. If you still think they should be deleted, open a discussion at WP:AFD. Keep in mind that we give little consideration to the quality of the article in deletion discussion, it is more about potential and that relates mostly to available coverage as outlined in WP:GNG. ~Kvng (talk) 13:08, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Hi, another PROD question. This was my first PROD. Could you tell me why you thought it was controversial? I do plan to AFD it unless I've missed something. Thanks in advance. JohnmgKing (talk) 18:03, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- @JohnmgKing the justification you gave was
This term is perhaps not a complete neologism ( See Kruger 2020, Anal sexuality and male subcultures online: The politics of self-deprecation in the deep vernacular web) , but this article is entirely based on WP:SYNTH and original research as far as I can tell. Raised issues on talk but article creator has not replied to ping.
You are saying the subject is potentially notable but the article has problems. We prefer to improve problematic articles on notable subjects. ~Kvng (talk) 12:17, 20 June 2023 (UTC)- I'll try to be clearer next time. I wasn't saying it's potentially notable, I was just noting it's not a complete neologism. I think it could only be notable if this phrase was adopted and used in reliable philosophy sources. Anyway, sent to AFD. Thank you for your time. JohnmgKing (talk) 19:31, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
Light-induced fluorescence transient
Hi Kvng, How goes it. I see you promoted this pile of junk, Light-induced fluorescence transient to mainspace without checking the references. This is a spam article that has been used to push corporate advertisement into Wikipedia. It is a brochure article. Its a classic case of it. Check the references when your doing reviews. I plan to check your last couple of hundreds of your Afc reviews. You have been an Afc reviewer for years yet your still allowing this junk to pass. Its really poor. Two minutes works would have shown the state of it. scope_creepTalk 05:06, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Scope creep, article quality should not be a large factor in AfC reviewing. Nor is it a primary concern in AfD discussions. I don't believe I've made a mistake here. Feel free to improve the article or take it to AfD for discussion.
- Almost all of my recent reviews are from the back of the AfC queue so tend to be difficult cases and I do lean towards accepting them when possible to get them out of protracted limbo. I typically leave an accept rationale on the talk page so make sure to read that before taking action. ~Kvng (talk) 12:43, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Your talking like its 2010 and seemingly trying to subvert the whole ideal of Afc. Your approach is completely lackadaisical and you don't seem to be able to even recognise what the problem is. Improving article quality is the primary reason for Afc, for creating the process in the first place. I don't think you can even recognise a spam article. So you think it is ok to push article in "protracted limbo" that are full of corporate spam into mainspace, when everybody else working to remove it. It is unacceptable for an Afc reviewer to be in this position. I plan to review your reviews from now, every one of them. And if I find a consistent pattern like this brochure article, I intend to make a report. I will send everyone to Afd. scope_creepTalk 13:18, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Scope creep, no I don't think someone else will remove this from mainspace. AfC reviewers should accept drafts that are WP:UNLIKELY (please give this a click) to be deleted at AfD. In addition to my AfC experience, I'm sure you're aware I have the AfD experience to make this assessment. Even if where wrong, it would be an honest mistake and I would try to learn from it. ~Kvng (talk) 13:42, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
- Check the references and make sure they are not small corporates and private small business looking to market their product on Wikipedia. If it that is the case a WP:PROMO article. scope_creepTalk 13:35, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

PWM example
Hello. Sorry, I don't know if it's right way to contact you. I removed the example because it's wrong. PWM means pulse width modulation, so each pulse width correspond to a specific value of the modulated signal. Looking at the example seems that the output value is the integral of the exitation, in fact to decrease the output the exitation become negative. In reality, to decrease the output value we just have to decrease the pulse width, not provide a negative one. The examples below are correct. Marco andreu (talk) 07:15, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
