Re ribbons added

They do look cool, and thank you. I guess I was concerned that it looked as if the ribbons were under my name, which isn't appropriate as I haven't received the awards, but I'm probably missing the point. Colonel Tom 16:13, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm a new user and have a simple question

Hello! I got your message, thanks, but there is one question I would like to ask. Why do my pages or changes always get deleted? What I am adding only benefits the page, and starting a new article only helps. Please send a simple response

Wiki addiction

File:Esperanza.Fhloston.jpg

It is sort like an addictive drug, hard to kick the habit. There is always a wikibreak which can be good. Sometimes real life has a way of forcing a break. I don't think there are 12 steps. Whatever you do don't let yourself burnout. Sometimes I just stay off for a day and that helps really, just a last watchlist check and sign out for awhile. Hope that helps. Take care.--Dakota ~ 05:41, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi

Sorry you don't like the auto centering. I change it everytime I archive which I am am doing less of lately, just letting it grow. I have seen your welcome template looks good.--Dakota ~ 06:05, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Real bunnies are cool used to have one but he died of old age, now if it was puppies they would stay forever.--Dakota ~ 06:16, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

My mom has an Abyssinian, extremely regal but cares for no one but her. It's named predictably Isis quite suitably. I don't care for cutsey poses either, nature isn't that way. I have 3 dogs who have never met that cat but they are good, like everything except the mailman, neighborhood school buses and a friend of mine.--Dakota ~ 06:35, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Your welcome message

Just saw your welcome message template while welcoming some newbie contributors, hope you don't mind if I use it (I'll customise it to my tastes of course). Thanks. MyNameIsNotBob 23:43, 26 April 2006 (UTC) p.s. It is fully awesome, good job!

I'm working on it at User:MyNameIsNotBob/Welcome. I have played with the colours a little (they look rather average at the moment) but I have changed it so I can insert the article name that the person is working on. I use a monobook.js script which prompts me for it. I'd like to add a photo or something like that in there. MyNameIsNotBob 05:05, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Welcome template

Kukini, I have created a draft welcome template based on yours (and your userpage) at User:MyNameIsNotBob/Welcome/temp. Just wondering if you, or someone you know could tidy it up a little, I'd like to see some more images in there (some can be seen at User:Master_of_Puppets/Icons) or maybe integrate the Pic of the Day. Thanks. MyNameIsNotBob 06:33, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Kukini and NotBob, I'm glad to see someone has finally started using the the Get Welcomed template, but what I like even more is your modifications. :) Can you you guys get onto that template and make some permanent changes. Kukini, I like the way your version explains more about getting help. And NotBob, I like you creative design. Maybe we can work together and create some better templates to replace some of the old ones. What do you think? Let me know. Waikiki!!! ^_^ --ElectricEye (talk) 07:25, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

One of my coworkers vandalized the Time Signature page and I apologize for it. I appreciate what Wikipedia does, and hope it does not happen again. I will make a username to differentiate between myself and the IP.

I got a message from you but am not sure what you want, please enlighten. Hello by the way.

Thanks for noticing that I'm a new user. I like the challenge of writing neutrally about controversial subjects. Thanks for your offer of help :-) Justdignity 23:16, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

thank you

Hi Kukini,

Very much appreciated the welcome. I have a small question which I'm not sure if you will be able to answer for me or not. When looking at the 'Recent changes' page, one is able to see minor edits (m) and new articles (N). However, when looking at a specific users contribution page, one is only able to see the minor edits (m) indicator and not the (N) to indicate that user created that particular article. Assuming this is a feature enhancement request for MediaWiki, where would be the best place to ask if this functionality could be added?

Thanks again, fonetikli 03:03, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

(Actually, never mind - found the right place - and it turns out someone has already requested this!: http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4150).

Ninja Gaiden

Thanks for the intro, I've been making ickle changes a while but found this could be a project I could properly get into wikipedia, though it might be too much for an encylclopedia entry. I'm exhausted right now, but decided I had to write some damn thing to motivate myself to start. I'll try to read the Tutorials tommorrow, but I'm guessing I wont be able to find if it's bad ettiquette to invite anyone in a seperate forum for input, where most of them wont have a clue about guidelines? Anywhys, thanks again for reaching out, hopefully I'll stick with it :)

Hi and Thanks

Hi Kukini- Thanks for your note. Nice to be noticed! I'm just getting used to wikipedia- so I hope this message gets to you. I got interested in wiki through my media work. I have been connecting useful references from it to media stories I work on- and I have now discovered I can contribute too.

I think I just made some sort of profile for myself - and I hope I can make some useful contributions. I just tried to get the referencing thing working on the entry I created for St.Augustine's College, Brookvale. I think it worked?

Nice to hear from you

Help

Hey Kukini, I'm in the need of a little help. I want to have ECW redirect to Extreme Championship Wrestling than make a see also link for the disambiguation list on the ECW page. I'm tried myself and run into some issues. Any help would be appreciated when you get a chance. Thank you. Kyros 22:32, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Kukini. By the way I swear I put those tildes in for my sig .... o well I did it now anyway :-) 22:32, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

It appears that you cannot do a redirect on that acronymn since it is used for other things as well. It appears that all you can do is have it on the disambiguation page as it is. Best, Kukini 22:33, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Out of curosity, why shouldn't I blank out my user talk page. I like to keep things organized and clean. Kyros 22:35, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Howdy, would you mind taking a look at the the contributions of 49009589 (talkcontribs)? Kukini, FongSaiYuk is a new user who has helpfully contributed to an article I've been working on. Restored Welcome

Hi -- I had no idea dropping the 'welcome' note from my page could be construed as vandalism! Thanks for letting me know, and the restore. At the time I thought it was an automated message -- I didn't realize Wikipedia actually has a welcoming committee. Is it considered illegal to edit one's own talk page at all? It seemed obvious to me that editing someone else's comments on a talk page wouldn't be acceptable, since then you can misrepresent someone else's remarks, but I suppose I didn't think removing the welcome fit under that category. I wonder, does this mean Wikipedia is actually hosting hundreds of redundant copies of that exact message for all time? Lee Bailey 05:56, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your encouragement

Thanks Kukini for your support. I just joined Wikipedia yesterday, and finding it extremely informative, and a great concept. I am still trying to figure out how it works. If i get stuck i will surely get in touch with you. Thanks again. Indrajit Neogi

Making template:ribbon work

Hey Kukini,

I think you ran into the same problem that's been going on with template:ribbon at the Barnstar Brigade. For some reason sometimes it doesn't recognize the text you put in, but if you put a "2=" in before it, it works out. I have no idea why, but the information at Template:Ribbon talks about it, and it seems to work. -- Natalya 01:29, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

The change is really easy to make. The syntax should look like this:

Notice the "2=" in bold. That should do it! Let me know if you have any other questions. -- Natalya 10:57, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Your welcome

Hey ... thanks for your welcome, I didn't expect it but I do appreciate it. As you know I am very new and it was probably presumptious of me to edit before I truly knew what I was doing, but I was so excited by the whole project. Fortunately it seems to have worked out OK ... but please let me know if you disagree. Abtract 23:16, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

thanks for the barnstar

Thank you so much for the barnstar. =) I was actually wondering if anyone noticed my stub-sorting, and it's nice to know that my efforts are appreciated. Amalas =^_^= 14:13, 3 May 2006 (UTC):I know it's not usually good to delete things from a talk page, which is why I wrote the note saying that I moved it to the user page. I was just trying to consolidate my barnstars in the same place. I suppose I could move them both to the talk page, but that seems silly too. Amalas =^_^= 15:20, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: sorry

You really don't need to apologise for such a tiny mistake. No one is perfect, after all. Not too long ago I made a much greater mistake. There was an obvious but quickly-editing vandal on Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki article. While I reverted, he made another edit, which didn't become undone in my revert. I noticed that and tried to revert to the correct version but my internet connection was suddenly so slow that the same thing happened again. The guy kept vandalising and another person reverted to my version in the wrong belief that I had actually done a complete revert. The connection seemed better so I tried again ... and again it was messed up in the same way ;-). That was when I decided to get popups. Sciurinæ 19:38, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: Pinball number count

Unfortunately you're a bit quick with the edits and caused work in progress to be erased on the article. References are easily provided given you allow them to be placed.

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

In reference to Bio-barnstar proposal: What is the next move?

There was much talk lately about the bio-barnstar proposal, but these past 5 days there hasn't been more said. What is next? What is there to be done? Can we move this foward...? It is the first time I involve myself in a barnstar proposal and I do not know what is the procedure. I seem to read there is quite a support for a bio-barnstar and a considerable preference for the second proposal... Please, could someone tell me what next?
