Deletion discussion about Benebell Wen

[edit]

Hello, Ktmyss221,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Benebell Wen should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Benebell Wen .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on American Tarot Association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 19:49, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mentor

[edit]

Hello Ktmyss221, welcome to Wikipedia. I see you have asked for a mentor to help you with writing skills and I have been appointed. I have been looking at your contributions. I see that your new article American Tarot Association has been proposed for speedy deletion. You need to quickly find some reliable sources that refer to the organisation to back up its claim for notability.

Your writing skills appear quite satisfactory to me and it is the subjects that you have chosen to write about that is problematic. I fear that Wikipedia must seem a rather unwelcoming place to a new arrival. Let me know if there is anything specific with which you need help. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:20, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Since writing the above, I have found three book sources that mention the American Tarot Association and have added them to the article. It is not the sort of article that should be speedily deleted, but you must understand that there are masses of new articles written on non-notable subjects, and there are many editors who seek to reject them in order to maintain the standards of Wikipedia, and they don't always scrutinise the articles well enough before deleting them. Hi Cwmhiraeth: I'm still a bit confused as to how to reply to messages, so please forgive me. Thank you for everything, especially with regard to your help on the American Tarot Association entry. For now, I guess my question is how do I reply to user messages? Is this the correct way, or is there another way? Thanks! Ktmyss221 (talk) 15:33, 16 April 2015 (UTC) Cwmhiraeth (talk)[reply]

I have added your talk page to my watch list so replying here will be fine. You can contact me on my talk page but having all the discussion in one place is probably easier. If you want to attract my attention, you can put {{ping|Cwmhiraeth}} at the start of a message.
With regard to the American Tarot Association, once something gets tagged for speedy deletion, it's usually removed within 24 hours, so I appealed to an admin I know who is active in that field, and he saved the article. But he did have some comments which you can see here on my talk page. You will see that he thinks the article should include membership numbers and information on funding etc, and he is doubtful about the code of ethics. Take a look at some of the short articles in this category and you will see a variety of acceptable articles on associations. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:38, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
