- The only authority recognized to name stars is the IAU Working Group on Star Names. Any reference to some other group claiming to have named a star is simply going to be removed. It was a long-time scam, and clearly recognized at the time as a scam, that various people "sold" star names, which were unrecognized by the astronomical community at large. Your preferred name appears to be one of those cases. If you disagree, you can always pursue one of the dispute resolution methods outlined in WP:DR. Tarl N. (discuss) 00:05, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
No
[edit]You can say that all you want. That organization be gone somewhere too. All of the information that they are using matches the information on the IAU state regarding the details of the star. Kriliokonc (talk) 00:12, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Fantastic
[edit]Fantastic we are going to debate this. There is absolutely no way that an organization can complain to sovereignty over something 36 light years away. I don’t care who you are how much recognition you have there isn’t no means of governing the entire universe. Kriliokonc (talk) 02:42, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

That is not how this works
[edit]Hi Kriliokonc. So I understand where you're coming from, but here's the thing: We don't care. Wikipedia articles are written based on information that can be found in reliable sources. You paid the people who run a website to send you a fancy piece of paper that says you named a star. We don't care. The relevant experts for articles on astronomy are recognized international astronomical organizations and major national organizations - specifically, the maintainers of stellar registries that actual astronomers refer to in their publications. Anyone can create a website and start listing names for stars. Unless that website is a recognized reliable source for the names of stars, we don't care. I have taken the unusual step of giving your account an indefinite block from editing as its first block, but this is because I sincerely believe you are not here to help build an encyclopedia. Rather, it appears that you are here to add a name to a star that you registered yourself on some random website. If you can demonstrate an understanding of why you are blocked, or otherwise convince another administrator that you should not be blocked, you may appeal my action by adding the text {{Unblock|YOUR REASON HERE}}
to this page (including the curly braces). Please see Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks before you try. Someguy1221 (talk) 02:58, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
