Changing template parameter and section formatting

[edit]

Please don't do this. You are making changes to template parameters and section headings that are against the usual standards and WP:MOS. -- ferret (talk) 16:08, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Are you stalking my pages and changes?kody1492 Talk 16:11, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm following up on changes made to pages on my watchlist and your subsequent undo of my initial revert. -- ferret (talk) 16:15, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret:Oh, that explains it.--kody1492 Talk 16:16, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

RFA

[edit]

Hi Kody1492, I've removed your request at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Optional RfA candidate poll as you've only been here 2 days .... so you have no chance in becoming an admin just yet,

Editors need to have been around 3-5 years and have made roughly around 10,000 edits (or more!) so it's probably best for the next few years you focus on content creation and editing and perhaps rethink RFA in 2019 or thereabouts,

Thanks & Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 15:47, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I didn't realize you created the account in 2013 ....But still you only made one edit in May 2013 and 1 in May 2014 so you still wouldn't have a chance as you've not been doing any major editing prior to 2016, Anyway Happy editing!, –Davey2010Talk 15:58, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Davey2010:Hey can you help me make my User-page and talk page look better, like your's?--kody1492 Talk 19:56, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The more editing you do the more your page will look better .... It all gets better over time I guess :), sorry!, –Davey2010Talk 20:19, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
How does it look now?--kody1492 Talk 20:23, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Kody, Davey2010 is right. It comes with time. In fact, the way your page appears to the public is less important than the way your contributions look. In other words, your record is golden; nothing compares to it in Wikipedia. And looking through it, it seems your heart is in the right direction because you like to keep order. Your contribution here, for example, tells me you appreciate civility, even when it was soon removed (which tells you something about the challenges of working with others in writing essays of this type). But you would have to explain rushed editing like this one, since rhetorical questions are indeed part of persuasive writing-- they make people reflect on issues important for your argument.
There is nothing wrong about working with your own page, and to make it personal (WP:UP), but too much investment on it at the expense of writing articles, preferibly from scratch or saving crappy ones, is never helpful. We are here to build an encyclopedia (WP:HERE), and sysops, who are charged with lots of menial tasks (WP:MOP), are expected to be self-motivated, demonstrate good judgement, and have acquired skills, and broader experience in various areas of WP than most others (e.g. article writing, anti-vandalism). Look, for example, at the record of a potentially good candidate here and compare it with your chart here. It should give you an idea of what you would like to develop- try keeping your article-writing piece covering more than 2/3, and submit various to WP:GA and WP:FA. Also, look at how other RfAs have gone here. And always be civil, and willing to help. What you may not find commonly stated is that to build an encyclopedia you need more people-skills than what most people would assume, and this is an ability you can certainly develop. Hope you find this useful. Caballero/Historiador 22:45, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I was @Caballero1967:trying to improve my coding skills by working on my own page. But I'll keep what you said in mind.--kody1492 Talk 14:02, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back to Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi there! You have good instincts for an occasional contributor, but WP:EP concerns what occurs in "main space" which is what our readers actually, via Google, etc., see. For article and user talk pages, which is occasionally how the sausage gets made, readers can seek that out at their own risk, haha. We do already have a WP:NPA policy. Most of the project's policies can be found by climbing down blue links from WP:5P, but I admit that I haven't looked lately. Welcome back, and I hope you'd like to stay around a little longer this time! -- Kendrick7talk 02:57, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of instruments used in forensics, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Restraint. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Fixed your talk page archiving

Hi! I took the liberty of fixing the auto-archiving settings at the top of this page. --rchard2scout (talk) 09:02, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
