RfA thanks

[edit]

I'd like to thank you for your support of my RfA. Coffee can be very persuasive, it is true. As I wrote, I was looking forward to feedback from the community, and I would like to let you know that you should please feel free to leave any further feedback for me you may have for me in the future at my Talk page. Thanks again. Jkelly 08:40, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks In Advance

[edit]

I appreciate your welcome message. My first article was flagged for wikification and I don't understand where my article diverges from accepted content... it looks like many other articles, is fairly complete, and utilizes standard wiki procedures (interlinks, notes and references, etc.). Thanks! GabrielT 15:28, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Hello KnowledgeOfSelf. I noticed that you edited my User page. Someone had been vandalizing it. However, I'm not sure if you were reverting vandalism or restoring someone else's vandalism. Yours appears to have been the last edit made, but the content is not they way I last left it. If you can help me sort this out, I'd appreciate it. If you are trying to help me, then thank you. If you're an administrator, maybe you can block the IPs that are vandalizing my page? I have nothing against homosexuals, but I'm not about to be outed on my Wikipedia user page. 8)--Rockero420 05:06, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, buddy!

[edit]

Well, I just came here to say thanks for reverting vandalism on my user page. And what do you know, everybody else says thanks too! You must be a quality individual. Thanks a bunch. --ParkerHiggins 07:15, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re Thanks

[edit]

Hey, you're welcome. I know how confusing tables and stuff can get. Yes, I'm supposed to be on a break, but I'm not that stressed. Thanks for injecting some comedy into my talk page, though. Cheers, Sean|Black 06:17, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:How to use tables and meta:Help:Tables might help. I don't know enough about tables to give specific advice, but I'm sure you can find someone who can. Cheers, Sean|Black 06:25, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thanks for your joke. I'll be around, but I'm going to focus on admining and back away from editing for a little while. It's just frustrating arguing with a brick wall sometimes, you know? —Cleared as filed. 01:20, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

[edit]

I think anons can vote, but their votes aren't really considered. Good question. I started editing with a user name from the get-go myself, so I can't really speak from personal experience. - Lucky 6.9 06:07, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime. Glad I happened to catch you online! I just wandered in for a moment. Getting harder and harder to come up with good topics to write about, so it's "wiki-policing" time. Might have to start hitting the requested articles section and see if something rings my chimes. - Lucky 6.9 06:10, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anon weirdness

[edit]

This is a new one. I thought it was a page move vandal based on the talk page, but now I don't know what to think. I'll certainly keep an eye on this guy. By the way, how long have you been editing here? Would you like to be nominated as an administrator? - Lucky 6.9 06:17, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Just give the word when you're ready. This site needs more good admins and to hell with your edit count.  :) Seriously, I'll nominate you in a heartbeat. - Lucky 6.9 06:25, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You got it. No sense in ruining Christmas sweating out an RfA! Thanks for your help. It's all to easy to feel unapprecated here and your kind words really made me feel better. - Lucky 6.9 06:37, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was also surprised when I saw this anon marking users as socks, but after a deeper investigation, I found out his actions were legitimate. Check out Wikipedia:Village pump/June 2003 archive 6 and Wikipedia talk:Bans and blocks. The bans are over two years old, which may explain why they don't show up on the Block log list. Journalist

[edit]

Yep, Ive been distant. Its not that neglected my Wiki-pals, its just that school is kicking my ass. Also, because its the Holidays, work is tedious —I work at Toys R Us, and every kid want toys for the holidays, so I have lots of work to do. I see that you have been getting on fine, manking many friends and providing valuable contributions to Wikipedia, kudos.

I have one joke:

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy takes out his phone and calls the emergency services.
"My friend is dead," he says, "What can I do?" The operator says, "Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a gunshot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says: "OK he's dead, now what?"

Hope you havent already heard it :-D. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 21:23, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for saving the Pie page from 66.241.88.136. I'm glad that there are some people here that are on the watch for vandalism. --RHJesusFreak40 05:46, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

[edit]

Sure, working on it. I'll report back soon. Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 07:34, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There you go. Cut and paste the following onto your "Nickname" box in your Preferences, and make sure "Raw signature" is selected:

<font color="#151B8D">Knowledge</font><font color="#C11B17">Of</font><font color="#008000">Self</font> | <font color="#461B7E">talk</font>.

Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 07:37, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, Не за что. As for the wiki, no, it's not a mirror, it's just a wiki, just like Wikipedia is, that is running the MediaWiki software, just like we do. MediaWiki is publicly available for everyone to use, as long as they follow the guidelines set at http://www.mediawiki.org/ Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 07:44, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, no, you don't have the link set for WP:ESP there, but that can be fixed very easily. Replace the code (again) with this:

<font color="#151B8D">Knowledge</font><font color="#C11B17">Of</font><font color="#008000">Self</font> | <font color="#461B7E">talk</font>.

which displays KnowledgeOfSelf | talk. 07:25, 7 December 2005 (UTC). Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 07:52, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Are you familiar with tables and graphs?

[edit]

Hey Orane. That joke is one of my all time favorites. I was wondering if you had any experience with tables and or graphs. I'm working on the 2003 NFL Draft and an other user has provided me to a link of how to use graphs and tables. It is a little to much for me to comprehend all at once. I did get rather far in it almost completed round 7! If you look at the page history you'll see what happened in my edit summary. I'm just wondering if you have any quick and easy tips that will help me in the now? Thanks KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 22:36, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you liked the joke. Well, as for the tables and graphs. Im not the best when it comes to them. You seem to have been getting on fine with them so far. It can be very tedious, however, and Im not aware of any easier ways to do them; you'll have to do them one-by-one, or maybe you could copy an entire round and just replace the names, thus creating a new round (thats what I would do:D). Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 23:34, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I say, If you keep up such good work, I might have to nominate you for adminship. Just wait 'til after December 23 (to give it the three months). You are doing such good work, just keep it up →continue to interact and gain trust, vote on AFDs, RFAs, participate in discussions etc, and Im sure that you will be successful. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 00:00, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ive been reviewing your contributions, and I know that you deserve this: I, Journalist hereby give K.O.S this Barnstar of Reversion for his excellent work on reverting vandalism. Keep it up, you're an asset to the community. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 00:04, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm wondering why you decided to restore the material deleted from Selling out. The deleted material was a bizarre and rambling POV attack on some obscure art car personality, and included unsourced reports of accusations ("rumored allegations that Seributra is an alleged pimp") and is pretty much unencyclopedic nonsense that has nothing relevant to "selling out". Since you are an experienced editor I thought I'd post here instead of just reverting. Cheers, MCB 07:25, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I reverted it with the edit summary "rv apparent vandalism." The edit was made by an anon user who left no edit summary and removed a large amount of text I was going on a whim after just scanning through the deleted text. If I made a mistake you are more than welcome to revert at your discretion. Sorry for any mis-understanding this caused. Cheers. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 07:30, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the message. Seems reasonable, and I have no idea why the anon editor did that, since I think it was he/she who added the material in the first place. I think I'll edit it and put something on the Talk page and see what comes out of it. Cheers, MCB 07:33, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

AfD Closure

[edit]

There's a good explanation of AfD closure here. I've only done one, myself, where I had to clean up a mess I had inadvertently caused by moving an article in the middle of an AfD (which I learned later is against policy). Good luck, MCB 07:50, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Request from Constantzeanu

[edit]

can you please revert to garzo's last version, not Node ue.Constantzeanu 23:47, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well yes, it was a version that was very carefully worded and Gareth, Bonaparte, Adi and myself spent all morning and afternoon going back and fourth until we all agreed upon it. Node I think was blocked for 24 hours and now he is reverting and changing stuff without discussing it on the talk page. I changed some words myself, including a "however" in the leading paragraph which was a little odd. Constantzeanu 23:53, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Thnx.Constantzeanu 00:04, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My failed RFA :)

[edit]

Dear KnowledgeOfSelf,

I would like to thank you for supporting me on my RfA. Even though it failed with a with the final tally of 55/22/6, I want to thank you anyways. I don't want to be one a admin anymore until I reach 10,000 edits now that it's over with. Thanks --Jaranda wat's sup 03:37, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Subpages

[edit]

Sure. Just type User:KnowledgeOfSelf/Subpage (or whatever name you like, as long as it is after the forward slash) and click on "Go", then click the "Start the KnowledgeOfSelf/Subpage article" link. You can also type it just as a regular link, and then click on the redlink and start typing. Hope that helps... you can also look at Wikipedia:Subpages for more info. Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 04:54, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Curses! 3 minutes! *points below* --Syrthiss 04:58, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. this AFD surely looks suspicious... I wouldn't close it as keep, I would have closed it as no consensus, since it is obvious that ProductKey and Boondock are sockpuppets (by the low number of edits outside the AfD), and I would have discounted the vote by Glassman, since he did not provide a reason for deletion either. That leaves the nominator's opinion, but since he didn't leave any, it cannot be counted. So, looking at what usually happens in WP:DRV, I would say this is a relist for a second round, with a no consensus result for the first one. :P Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 05:24, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Wait... if AFD is not about the votes, you have to take into account the arguments that each user is giving. To me, it seems that the nominator's reasoning, and also that of Glassman3, are focused towards meeting WP:V, while the others are not, so I would have still closed as a no consensus still, or discounted the obvious sockpuppetry and closed it as a delete. ;) :P Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 05:36, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ummm.... redirect where? ;) Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 06:21, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I know, I'm making your life difficult on purpose. The deletion areas of Wikipedia are rough, so it's better to get a good grasp of WP:DP to prevent things falling on WP:DRV. It's good that you're practicing, though, but you know that you can only close nominations as keeps for now. Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 06:31, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, there shouldn't be any redirects to WP:-), they should just be deleted outright (as sent to BJAODN or such). Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 06:33, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
