If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Capital Good Fund requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. reddogsix (talk) 22:20, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

[edit]

Read WP:CORP and WP:RS. If you can't show that the outfit complies with CORP, you might get away with excellent indepent reliable coverage (RS). But remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not the ladder to the stars. We record the arrived and past it, not the up and coming. (Mainly because a lot of up and coming don't after their first flush.) Peridon (talk) 22:48, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Klyons08

I am responding to you feedback request 7187. I do understand that you added an article to Wikipedia but an Administrator added a Speedy Deletion tag, this is normally added when an administrator thinks that the article is not needed on Wikipedia this is normally added when there is not enough information or is not necessary on Wikipedia. Sorry for any frustration!

Hello, Klyons08, and thank you for contributing this article. I've removed the "speedy deletion" tag which would have allowed it be summarily deleted. However, I think there probably does need to be a longer discussion about whether or not we want to keep it, which will probably occur at WP:AFD.

There are a lot of good things about this article. You put in a lot of information well formatted and with references. There is an article about the organization in the Providence Journal, a notable newspaper.

However, we don't include articles on every organization. We'd be swamped if we did. And this looks like a pretty small organization. That is does good things if admirable, but we don't make a special case for good works. That the organization has disbursed "more than $100,000" is pretty small beer in the scheme of things. Yes the founders are just students, but again, no exemption for that.

There's a couple of ways this could play out. One is, I could sent to WP:AFD for discussion. I can wait a couple of days, but I can't stop someone else from doing that right away.

Another thing is, if you'd like more time, we could move it your userspace (a special place where it not part of the regular Wikipedia articles). This would protect it from nominated for deletion and you could work on it as long as you like, then move it to article space when it's ready.

Whether it would end up deleted I don't know. It would be close, I think. WP:CORP is the controlling authority, basically. The Journal article helps a lot, but per [[WP:CORP#Primary criteria "A single independent source is almost never sufficient for demonstrating the notability of an organization". You mentioned the Providence Business Journal, but I don't see it referenced in the artice.

All this is rather a lot for a new editor, I know. However, your work shows great promise and I hope that all this doesn't faze you. (BTW my first few articles were deleted.) If you have any further questions or concerns you may message me, or just respond below. Cheers, Herostratus (talk) 06:20, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
