Welcome to the Wikipedia!

[edit]

Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Kittie Rose! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:

And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, and Wikiquette; also, you can sign your name on any page by typing four tildes: ~~~~.

Best of luck, Kittie Rose, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman 04:53, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I proposed your The Adventures of Epicenter article for deletion, as I believe it doesn't meet the requirements of notability for websites. See this link: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/WP:WEB --Xyzzyplugh 15:32, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I can see you're angry about the idea that your article could be deleted. The thing to keep in mind is, Wikipedia does have to have standards regarding which articles it accepts. Otherwise we would have millions of articles on people's garage bands, on websites that no one had ever heard of, on people's dogs, on words that their friends had made up at school one day and so on. Also, the purpose of wikipedia is not to give topics which are little known the opportunity to become well known through exposure on wikipedia.

To go into a little detail here, the fact is, it would be a disaster if wikipedia allowed anyone to create an article about anything. Yes, there are a million garage bands which would like more exposure, millions of people who would think it was cool if there were wikipedia articles about their children and their dogs, a million bloggers who would like their blog to be more popular and would want a wikipedia article about them. If we allowed this, millions of basically useless articles would be created, and wikipedia would become a garbage dump. The standards that we have, the rules of what makes an article qualify to exist here, are what makes wikipedia an encylopedia.

I'm going to look into the notability standards for webcomics. It's possible I may be nominating some of the others from the list of webcomics for deletion. And, to be frank, I will likely nominate The Adventures of Epicenter for deletion again within the next few days, this time using the [Articles for Deletion] process. If I do so, I will leave a note for you here letting you know I've done so, so that you can take part in the debate regarding possible deletion. If you can demonstrate that the topic of your article meets the standards of WP:WEB, it will definitely not be deleted. --Xyzzyplugh 01:13, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop vandalizing Xyzzyplugh's userpage. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Joyous | Talk 20:51, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has a strict policy of no personal attacks. Given that you may not have been aware of this when you made this edit or this edit, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt - for an established user that would be a blockable offence. Please focus on content, not on people. Thanks. Stifle 00:51, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Fictionaljimbo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fictionaljimbo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:06, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Revoltechgl.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 20:49, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
