Your edits to Harry Potter
[edit]Hello, I have reverted your edits to Harry Potter, which consisted of external links to Harry Potter fan sites. Please take a look at this article and the relevant historical discussion here. If you still believe that your external links are appropriate, you are invited to propose your links at Talk:Harry Potter fandom. Thanks, Deathphoenix ʕ 20:17, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Those links aren't at the same official level as those in the main Harry Potter article, which consists of official sites belonging to J. K. Rowling and the various publishers of the Harry Potter books. As links to the theme parks, they appear to belong more to the Harry Potter fandom. The more I think about it, you can probably add the external links to Harry Potter fandom without discussion, but I strongly recommend that you reference them in some fashion in the article, by either directly mentioning the theme park in the fandom article as a separate section, or by linking to Islands of Adventure#The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. --Deathphoenix ʕ 20:22, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. Actually, you could probably simply cut and paste the contents of Islands of Adventure#The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to the fandom article. --Deathphoenix ʕ 20:23, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Oh, wait, never mind, it's already been done, to the main Harry Potter article. These links are already available in the references section (link 94, among others), so these aren't necessary as external links in any fashion. --Deathphoenix ʕ 20:25, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- I see that Deathphoenix has advised you to cut and paste the paragraph(s) about the theme park into Harry Potter fandom, but, with no offense to either of you, that is not what the fandom article is about. Read the last "oppose" entry on the article's failed FAC (Featured Article Candidacy). The commenter raises an excellent point about the difference between the popularity of Harry Potter and what the fans of Harry Potter do; you will note he specifically uses the theme park as an example. Notice that there is no section in the fandom article that talks about the books, or about the films, or about the video games, etc. These are all essential parts of what makes a Harry Potter fan a Harry Potter fan, but they all have their own places in other articles. I hope that distinction makes sense. --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 00:38, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Belgariad
[edit]Hi! You've added [http:// www.squidoo.com/belgariad/ this site] to the article several times. It seems to be an advertising site with very little content that would add value for the reader. What is it that you believe to be important or significant about the site? If there's something I'm missing, we can add it! – Dreadstar † 19:40, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hey Dreadstar The reason is, the site is still growing and updating, and it seems to be the only active Belgariad site available. Of course, you could wait a couple of months until it has loads of content, and then add it. Once again, my two cents. Kirtay
- Thanks for the response, Kirtay! Let's wait until the site is more robust before adding the link. – Dreadstar † 16:19, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
