You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating copyright policy by copying text into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to quote non-free text. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. You have previously been advised of our copyright policies multiple times, beginning with this caution in 2008 to your original account. Yet I see that on July 3rd, you copied content verbatim into Cherry Creek High School from [1] and you have also copied content into Lawrence High School (Kansas) from [2]. For example, you wrote:

A three-year high school course was organized, offering only the following subjects until 1880: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, English, Latin, Greek, general history, civil government, natural philosophy, and geology. The "high school" was held in a single room of Central. In 1889, the "'Old High School'", at the southeast corner of 9th and Kentucky, was built at a cost of $35,000. It was said to be "A marvel of beauty, convenience and cheapness." In November 1889, the first school newspaper, The Mercury, was published and was released every two weeks.

The source says:

A three-year high school course is organized, offering only the following subjects until 1880: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, English, Latin, Greek, general history, civil government, natural philosophy, and geology. The "high school" was held in one room of Central.... 1889 - The "Old High School," at the southeast corner of 9th and Kentucky, is build at a cost of $35,000, said to be "A marvel of beauty, convenience and cheapness." Nov. 1889 - First school paper, The Mercury, appears and is issued every two weeks.

Your edits to the latter article show some effort at rewriting, but as written the bulk of the material seems to constitute an unusable derivative work of that source. I have reverted to prior to your introduction of the history. When your block expires, please make sure that you do not restore any content that is pasted from or closely paraphrases from previously published sources. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:04, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming Wikimedia events in Missouri and Kansas!

[edit]

You're invited to 3 exciting events Wikipedians are planning in your region this June—a tour and meetup at the National Archives in Kansas City, and Wiknics in Wichita and St. Louis:

Kansas City
Saturday, June 16, starting at 9 a.m.National Archives in Kansas City
  • This full-day event will include a tour of the facility; presentations from National Archives Wikipedian-in-Residence, Dominic McDevitt-Parks, and Exhibit Specialist, Dee Harris; and time in the research room to work on projects. The focus of the projects will be scanning, writing articles, transcribing, or categorizing images on Commons.

Wikipedians from St. Louis and elsewhere in the region are encouraged to make a day-trip of it and come to Kansas City for this special opportunity!

And two local editions of the Great American Wiknic, the "picnic anyone can edit." Come meet (and geek out with, if you want) your local Wikipedians in a laid-back atmosphere:

Wichita
Saturday, June 23, starting at 1 p.m. — Central Riverside Park
  • Join the 1st annual Wichita Wiknic: The Sunflower State blooms Free Knowledge!
St. Louis
Saturday, June 23, starting at 11 a.m. — Forest Park Visitors' Center
  • Join the 2nd annual St Louis Wiknic: The Gateway to the West is now The Gateway to the Wiki!

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Kirk Hinrich, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username. If you choose to do so, we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles email is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. —Bagumba (talk) 02:39, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
