A tag has been placed on your user page, User:King Scruff, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi Knitsey, thank you for your rapid review. I'm trying to create an "artist page" on Wikipedia. I've never done this before, please help me do this the right way. The page doesn't have to be promotional, it's just supposed to be a biography. I'm a composer and have thousands of views on my latest song/video, and people are trying to find me but they're complaining because I don't have a wiki - but other artists do... so what is the right way to do this? Can you guide me please? Thank you! - Scruffy King Scruff (talk) 00:46, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

I will post a welcome message to this page shortly. It has some links you might find helpful.

Wikipedia doesn't have pages as such, it has encylopedia articles on notable subjects. These subjects have what we call significant coverage in reliable sources.

It sounds like you want to create an article about yourself and your artistry? You can try to create an article by all means, just be ware that you will need to provide references for everything you claim in an article. Social media, views on sites such as Spotify etc are of little use for articles. Wikipedia needs to know what other people say about you, not what you say about yourself. I would suggest you look at some of out music/artist articles to see how they are written and look at the type of references they have. Can you provide the same level of referencing about yourself?

The page you created was your user page (click on my name and you can see the type of info that is allowed). Promotional blurb and links are not usually allowed. I will post some links for you that might help. Good luck, Knitsey (talk) 01:31, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
