Apologies. However we can change the reference to Fastenal. Fastspec and Portland are both wrong. http://www.fastenal.com/content/documents/FastenalTechnicalReferenceGuide.pdf page 36 Kilbert (talk) 14:17, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Screws help

[edit]

{{helpme}} In the Screws wiki page (Hex cap screws section) The reason for elimination of "Finished Hex Bolts" is : in response to an influx of counterfeit fasteners PL 101-592 was passed. The ASME B18 committee rewrote B18.2.1 and eliminated "Finished Hex Bolts" and renamed it todays Hex Cap Screw. I have no source for this other than it is in the preface to the ASME B18.2.1, The information is valid, and would make the article correct. Is there a way to reference the document or add the information though it is copyrighted and I cannot post it online? Kilbert (talk) 13:42, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds fine, Kilbert. You can give the full details of a reference between a <ref> and </ref> directly after the fact - please give enough details so that a reader could locate the source. Do not post copyright material; if there is a link to an online copy, you could add that; if not, just give all the details you can - any code number, the publisher/organization, etc.
For example,
Model 42 screws are 4mm in length.<ref> CHZ-B39, 1 April 2010, International Chzz Standards, http://www.IntChzzStd.com/ </ref>
The details that you put in the reference will appear at the bottom of the document, automatically linked with a small 'reference' number.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
The last of those is particularly useful - please try it; pop in now and say hello.  Chzz  ►  14:22, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
