[edit]

Hi! Recently, we created WikiProject Balochistan. The aim of this project is to monitor, organise and take better care of all articles on Wikipedia relating to Balochistan. If you are interested to join us, please list yourself on the participants section on the project page. =Baloch cuisine

[edit]

Hi khalid, I was wondering if you could help me develop and create the page Balochi cuisine, as part of my work on Pakistani cuisine. Since you mention yourself as a Baloch, I believe you may specifically know more about Baloch food than a Punjabi guy like me :P Just even a little bit of help will be very appreciated. Re:Rama

[edit]

Hi Khalid and thanks for the message.

Unortunately discussing this with Rama's Arrow did not solve this.It did the opposite.Rama's Arrow blocked me for a week twice and also blocked Szhaider for a 3 weeks as well as blocking user:Unre4L for a week.I asked him to discuss, but when he saw me pointing out to the violations by the Indians and for removing the Indian tag(which I got an additional 48-hour block for).

When Unre4L and I complained about him to WP:ANI,he opened an arbitration case against me,Szhaider,Unre4L and Siddiqui.

I'm sorry but he has gone too far by abusing his priveladges. The indian users have so many admins on their side, but we Pakistanis don't even have one admin to support us.Sadly that is the reality.

Let's hope this case goes well for us.Pray it goes well my freind.

Best regards.--Nadirali نادرالی

It is a tool to help catch vandals, nonsense info, etc., you can mark articles stub or propose them for deletion. - Patricknoddy 21:42, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Once you load the program, you have to login to your Wikipedia account, that way Wikipedia will know it is you, then you go to the upper left-hand corner and select a number and click "Populate list", it will show you the # recent changes you selected, then you go through and look at them, in the upper center there are two tabs: Deletion and Maitenence, in the first tab you can propose a article for deletion, in the second one you can make a article a stub, put {{cleanup}} on the article, or even say that it does not cite references or sources. - Patricknoddy 21:53, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Mark with notability, means mark it for deletion because it is not notable. - Patricknoddy 22:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For the first one, see WP:STUB, the second I don't know. - Patricknoddy 22:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CSD tagging

[edit]

I am wonder why exactly you tagged a few article lately as WP:CSD#R1 when in fact there was no redirects involved? Some include Runnin'(Pharcyde Song) and List of Filipino Victoria Cross recipients. Nishkid64 22:56, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CSD#R1 is only applicable when the page "redirects to non-existent pages." Remember to tag for legitimate reasons. See WP:CSD for more. Thanks, Nishkid64 23:02, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's unfortunate that there is no CSD category to delete total rubbish. List of Filipino Victoria Cross recipients is currently going through AFD as it is a blatant hoax - no Filipino has ever won the Victoria Cross. -- Arwel (talk) 20:41, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pic documentation

[edit]

Re:File:PtownOldLibrary and File:CenterMethodistChurch. I wrote to the photographers of both pics to ask if I could post them to wikipedia. They both wrote back saying yes, provided that I indicated the URL of the original pics. I included the URL and the text of their messages with each pic. Both were removed pretty promptly. Please explain what I can do differently the next time I get permission to use someone else's image so that it will not be deleted. Thank you. Peter 02:16, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I added the following {{subst:uncategorized}}. In fact, all I should have done was put {{categorize}} as this is easier to get rid of later, and so I've changed it. As you probably know, all the {{categorize}} tag does is add the page to the list of articles that need to be put into categories - type of music, place of birth, etc. As I don't know anything about Mr Waldman, I couldn't help with that task, but thought I'd mark it as something that needed to be done at some stage to help more people find the article. Best wishes. Bencherlite 02:27, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I might try that. Although my user page might look a bit empty if I put the user boxes to the side! Bencherlite 02:37, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the barnstar! I haven't gotten one of those in awhile. As for Shahbaz Khan Bugti, maybe you should clarify that it's not his name in the Sindhi language, but simply the Balochi language written in the Sindhi script. Regarding Gabol Baloch, what didn't work about the references? I don't have time to read all of what he wrote. Anyways, thanks again for the barnstar. Gabol Baloch

[edit]

First of all it is obvious that baloch history which we have is not hundred pecent valid it is in the form of balochi poems on which many baloch writers have different point of view . Now so far as English writers are concerned thay did not have any solid knowledge about baloch history they came in balochistan for a little time and wrote baloch history in the form of book before English period it was not in written form , These were poems which transefered from one generation to next so baloch writers Say that many dactyl in balochi poetry are Result of rivalry in Battle because it was in vogue that when baloch used to fight then they read such dactyl to pasquinade the rival clan (1) , because each and every balochconsiders himself the only baloch and superior of all. The following baloch dactyl is one of those that is :

"کھيڑد، گبول، گدائی، تالپور، کاہان ء مری ايشياں غلام ء مير چاکری"

"Kurd", "Gabol", "Gadai","Talpur", and "Marri" of Kahan (Bijjarani) are slave of Ckakar. This is ironic dactyl having no historical importance. It is clearly an ironic epic not rhapsodic (2). All baloch know that Bijjar was Muqadam(Balochi Term) ( Aboveall ) of Chakar-e-Azam . Such dactyl have no historical importance and are baseless(3). Talpurs are Generation of Leghari(4).Leghari of Sindh are Talpur Meer. Shahdad Kot is after the name of Mir Shahdad Talpur Who has key roll in independence of sindh (5). You Know it better. Gabol was the Fore front warrior in Battle of Chakar-e-Azam and Gohram Lashari from 1456-1486 (6), and during the age of Chakar-e-Azam the baloch who fought against lasharis were called Rind and Gabol was at forefront in that battle against lasharis (7). Gabol are origionally Rind (8) and according to some writers Gabol is Lashari clan (9). "Gadai" is Sub clan of Shambhani Bugti (10). Shambhani is a powerful clan of Bugti Rind and also a tribe in Kachhi called Rind of kachhi (11). Kurd is powerful Brohi baloch tribe and also a clan of Mazari (12). Kurd is divided into following groups: "Sarpara","Rodini", and "Pirkani" (13), sarpara and Rodini and pirkani are Wellknown baloch tribes of balochistan, pirkani is also a clan of Mazari (14). Brohi language is alo called "Kurdgali"(15), some brohi tribes are Mengal, Raisani, Muhammad Hasni, Mirwari, Qambrani, Zehri, Dehwari, Bangulzai of present Balochistan including Khan of Kalat. In history, the word "Kush" or Koach has been used for Brohi Balochis, Generation of Kurd (16), and "Blush" for other Blochis known as Generation of Rind And Lasharis.

Now i want to describe some interesting References which are in the same book(Baloch Race), Whom you have claim base in which Kurd, Gabol, Gadai, Talpur and Marri of Kahan has been Criticised. Only Gabol not mentioned you should understand balochi Epic. I have given that dactyl also above in Balochi.

An English officer appointed in Baluchistan Namely Mr.Bruce Wrote in his book: "If baloch and Brohis are not Different by Origin then we will make the difference".

Book: "Forward Policy"

Author: "Mr.Bruce"

Reference: "Koach and Baloch" by Mir Gull Khan Naseer Page.52. It is Translation of "Baloch Race" by "Longworth Dames" Which was Carried out by Mir Gul Khan Naseer in Urdu Language in Three Parts.

In this Book the above Reference is also Given that "Kurd" "Gabol" "Gadai" "Talpur" And "Marri" of Kahan Were Slave of Chakar-e-Azam. Mir Gull Khan Naseer Writes in the Reference that this dactyl has no historical importence, it is an ironic insinuative dactyl also showing tribal rivalry and pasquinade .

Similarly, Dr.Baluse comments that “Korai, Katwar, Marri, Mir Wari, Gichki, Nutkani are from Jatt Origin " (17). Mazari is also a Hindustani Tribe Not Baloch" (18). Kalmati", "Jakhrani" and "Gorshani" are also Non baloch by Dr . Baluse point of view (19). One of Nawab Bugti's wives is also Kalmati baloch . Dr.Baluse Divides Baluchies In Three Groups namely "Brahvis" "Nomris" And "Rind" he states that first two groups have no relation with baluchies . "Laangani and Naroi are also non baloch" (20) . "Kurd, Gabol, Gadai, Dashti, Tapur, and Marri of Kahan Were Slave of Mir Chakar" (21) and "Buzdar also have no value in Baloch Culture" (22). Also Gopong and Dashti have been criticised in the same way that these are not baloch but Slaves .

Prof.Aziz Muhammad Bugti in his book "Baloch Tribes" writes that Gopong is generation of Hoot( Son of Mir Jalal Khan Ancesstor of Rind, Lashar, Korai and Jatoi ) . If it is true that Gopong is not baloch then Mazari, Dreshak, Khosa, are not baloch because these tribes are also generation of Hoot . Seondly, Ajooba, Mother of Hoot who was son of Mir Jalal Khan, was not baloch so Khosa is Partially Baloch according to Baluchi rule because thay can'nt be Sardar, Fatima, Mother of Rind Lashar Korai and Jatoi was baloch only they can be Sardar (23) .

At the end i will only say that if ironist say that Gabol is not Baloch then, he needs to understand the balochi History then has right to claim. Gabol is ancestory Baloch tribe (24) . For your information, The Major Baloch Tribes Who are Rind by origin and fought against lasharis Between 1456 and 1486 ( Well Known By 30 year Battle of Rind And Lashar ) are as follows :

Rind, Chakrani, Mirani, Allah Dadi, Mir dadi, Bijjarani, Nohani, Bigrani, Muhammadani, Domki, Brahmani, Rehani, Nausherwani, Alyani, Sundrani, Haibtani, Nindwani, Haidrani, Gorshani, Mirozai, Kheya zai, Muridani, Qaisrani, Jamalani, Leghari, Kaloi, Jiskani, Pherozani, Rakhshani, Mazari, Siah Laaf, Kalmati, Mirali, Bulmat, Janglani, Rostmani, Sarangani, Askani, Mastiani, Umar zai, Babrani, Lund, Javdani, Rahija, Gashkhori, Gabol, Dreshak, Dashti, Hotkani, Abdani, Yousafani, Shehkani, Ali Khani, Gorgez, Shahazai, Puzz Babandi, Abbasani, Mandwani, Hasnani, Pindrani, Jalbani, Masuri, Hadkari, Sohryani, And Chandia (25) .

And Those who are Lashari origin are:

Lashari, Chukk, lashari, Shehdani, Malkani, Chattani, Banglani Mirdadani, Mubarkani, Mirnani, Dedwani, jadwani, Mohani, Nohkani, Sawerani, Salarani, Pir Muhammadani, Mazar khani, Kamalani, Jagwani, Salmani, Tawaham khani, Ikhwani, Shahwani, Behramani, Hadyani, Samailani, Notabandiani, Charwani, Bigrani, Jalalani, Salamani Manghiani, Alkani, Magsi, Jatoi, and Tawaklani and some other (26) .

Re:Khosa

[edit]

Hi - you wrote: Please Read the Talkpage of Khoso,Khosa. You add wrong information in topic.

I didn't add any information "in topic". All I did was add a link to another article with a similar name. This is called a disambiguation link, and it is standard practice to add such links where a reader might accidentally go to the wrong article. I am not saying anything about the Khosa people, other than that someone might accidentally type "Khosa" when trying to reach the page Xhosa. Grutness...wha? 02:50, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS - it is not standard Wiki practice to require people to discuss changes on a talk page prior to editing an article, unless such pages are controversial, since no one editor owns any article. These changes were not controversial, so there was no need to discuss them. Grutness...wha? 02:54, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you give me enough time, I will add it to the Xhosa page - in fact, I have been trying to get to it, but each time i do I get a new messsage appearing on my talk page. As for removing your link, that was an accident and I apologise - we must have edited the page at almost the same moment and rollback hit two edits rather than just one. As to owning the page, no, it is true you haven't said that, but the message on the talk page and your response to an edit of the page between them seem to indicate that there is some feeling of ownership. Grutness...wha? 03:00, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Having a page on your watchlist to revert any vandalism is fine - but that doesn't mean reverting clearly legitimate edits like adding a disambiguation link. Grutness...wha? 03:22, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The link I used was the standard form used for disambiguating pairs of articles on most wikipedia pages that need such links (as it shows at Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Top_links). You may well have seen other forms of dablink, but that doesn't mean that my edit should have been reverted. Nor does it mean that I "added wrong information". Grutness...wha? 03:36, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you tell me why you commented out the color framing link in this article? Removing red links inhibits the creation of new articles, and is thus generally considered against the spirit of wiki editing, unless there is good reason to do so.

I added the link because color framing is closely related to field dominance, as both define a field sequence in video. Although field dominance continues to be relevant in modern digital video, and the color framing sequence is now mostly an item of historical importance, both deserve articles. -- The Anome 00:12, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedies

[edit]

Why are you creating empty pages with speedy tags on them? It doesn't make sense. – riana_dzasta 03:49, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dear please read this [[2]],i have seen so many pages,so i was deleting those all.i do not knw what to do.i though to delet those all useless pages.if you could help me.Khalidkhoso 03:52, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Huh. I'm not sure why that's happening. But like Mackensen I would strongly recommend you change your internet environment, if possible, as open proxies are indefinitely blocked. – riana_dzasta 03:54, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I work from my office and i work in shifts ,so i do not know who uses this system and why.i do not use proxy,it is from local admin to use it, so I can not change there policies I am just work for money here. You guide me what to do.this is 1st time i am facing this much problem.Khalidkhoso 03:55, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I don't know how to help you, unfortunately, Mackensen is one of the best people to go to for advice on this, as he has much more experience than I do. Alternatively you can ask any of the people on this list. – riana_dzasta 03:58, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe don't ask all of them, just a few :) I noticed you asked Zsinj - Daniel.Bryant, Cyde and Voice of All are also active users, and helpful. – riana_dzasta 04:10, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Mackensen is correct, editing through a proxy service, even if you don't know you're behind a proxy is not allowed due to the possibility of abuse. Since you said this is happening when you're at work, I unfortunately have to encourage you to not edit Wikipedia from work. If you can edit from home where you have a normal internet connection, that is fine. If you have any other questions pertaining to why proxy servers are not allowed, or anything else for that matter, feel free to leave me a message on my user talk page as you have done before. Charlie Parr

[edit]

Any articles that mention Charlie Parr or Charles Parr have been made by Charlieparr123 or his sock puppet, Birch34. They may seem relatively reputable, but Charlieparr123 is a blatant vandal. These pages should be deleted ASAP. I saw you posted a tag on his page, so I thought I ought to mention this to you. --Theunicyclegirl 20:48, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What a guy. ;) After I notified him of the speedy deletion and warned him for vandalism, he posted on my user page: "I have just written to say that American english is stupid if you want to speak arelangauge then speak english english!" Odd form of insult ... --Theunicyclegirl 20:56, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you read the links you posted? None of them could be counted as a verifiable, third party non trivial source, and so there was no need to remove the notability tag. Some are useless- one is just a link to her website, for instance. I think this article may well be AfD fodder, please help do something about it if you think otherwise. Salaam Khalid! I'm glad that you are back. I have copyedited the Sai Kumar article. I searched for an image on Flickr and Creative Commons (both having free license images), but to no avail. I made two inquires and got the following responses that you might be interested in reading: here, here, and here. I hope this helps! Yes, Mangrio Sahab has contacted me regarding his edits. Ado, in my opinion, the image on this website, Dishant: Dad Sahib (2000), looks like a nice one to use on the article. Would you like to upload it or would you rather have me do so? I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sadaaiin gaddu, AnupamTalk 22:10, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Khalid, from my understanding you may use {{film-screenshot}} license as the image meets the Film and television screen shots section of Wikipedia:Fair_use#Images. You can check this with Rama's Arrow who mentioned the idea. However, I saw the same license being used for the image on the Dilip Kumar article. I hope this helps. • Do you mean if you were involved in the affair? If you made one to two reverts, that should not be too problematic to place the warning. Read the tag. You have no justification or claim of notability. And you are NOT allowed to remove it yourself. The most you can do is add a hangon tag and justify your request in the discussion page for the article. --Blowdart 20:39, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. I guess that you created this because the page you wanted was taken by a redirect. We can fix that by taking over the redirect and adding a see also at the top for the previous redirect. If we need to create extra pages, the disambiguation page shouldn't contain anything other than links. A better name for the article may have been Phog (Story) or something like that if you wanted to start an extra page, but I don't see any reason not to change it round so you have the correct page.

Do you mind if I make the changes and then tag your page for deletion as housekeeping? You will keep all the information on the page Phog. Cheers --Spartaz Humbug! 22:38, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not wasted at all, :) I have simply moved your article to the correct location for you. Its always tricky handling examples of articles sharing names so I figured I would fix this for you and you can carry on something more productive like creating articles. --Spartaz Humbug! 22:47, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your quick answer :).Yes The tale is from Arabic folklore and written in the book of alf layla wa layla stories. Actually I was wondering if the name is related to Sindhi because another user was asking me about what does Sindibad means. The story is based on an Arab sailor from Basra, Iraq. However, the name apparently is not Arabic name. Best regards --Aziz1005 23:24, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Wonthaggi Power Football Club, by Bren Barnes, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Wonthaggi Power Football Club seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Wonthaggi Power Football Club, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Wonthaggi Power Football Club itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:02, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hyd5.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hyd5.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 17:36, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Pakistan Studies

[edit]

Thanks for your message. This whole article is based on reliable academic sources. Please see WP:RS to learn more about how to distinguish reliable sources. Please read this primary sources on which the article is sourced. For example, if it quotes "Death of Aurangzeb weakened Pakistan spirit", no you cannot change it to "Death of Aurangzeb weakened the Subcontinental Muslim Spirit". Read the works of Ayesha Jalal and Yvette Rosser cited in the article. If there is an article by another notable scholar saying, for example, that there is no language bias, his/her views can be added. It would be good to see some balance like that if it is possible to find reliable sources. What you are saying in the article might be right, but unfortunately it cannot be added until references could be found. So, please work on that. Regards, deeptrivia (talk) 15:14, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for offering to scan the whole book, but unfortunately my or your opinion about it after reading the book is worthless on wikipedia, so it won't help if I read the books and find nothing wrong in it. Only opinions from reliable sources like from publications of well known academicians in peer reviewed journals count. deeptrivia (talk) 15:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the reverts, but thankfully we're discussing it now. I'm all for more balance in the article, and we could do it if reliable sources are cited. deeptrivia (talk) 15:22, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your understanding. Let me know if you need some help on this. Regards, deeptrivia (talk) 15:26, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Balochistan

[edit]

First of all, "forcely" is not a word in the English language. Secondly, if you want to include that extremely POV word in the opening paragraph of the article, you must provide a source for this claim that details significant proof that the Quaid forced Balochistan to join Pakistan. Otherwise, this word will be deleted from the article. There is no room on Wikipedia for biased, unsourced information that is mere heresy. Later on in the article, it says that Balochistan MAY have been forced to join, in other words, no one has any proof.

Please provide a link, otherwise I will delete that word once again. Zaindy87 06:30, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Hyd29.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Hyd29.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Picaroon (t) 22:20, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hyd29.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hyd29.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Thank you. After Midnight 0001 16:36, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:DeePak.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DeePak.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 13:09, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shi'a-Sunni sectarianism! What next?

Wikipedia has always had its fair share of disputes. The issues surrounding debates like creationism-evolutionism had been a source of many edit wars. But recently enough, the ball-of-chaos had landed in our very own court. Pakistani issues are now polluted with a new sectarianism, especially the biographical articles celebrating some of the most influential people in Pakistani politics. These edit wars annoyed administrators who had no idea how the problems should be dealt with. Instances of religious inclination (either Shi'a Islam or Sunni Islam) were changed from one or the other. Debates have kicked off on the WP Pakistan talk page. Recently enough, a new policy has come into discussion (actually, it's just a set of rules) that defines major guidlines for such issues. It now awaits votes from all Pakistani editors.

In other news: Akhtar Hameed Khan has finally reached the FA status and Islescape is the happiest person on Earth.

History of Balochistan

[edit]

Thanks for your note on my talk page. Actually I have been thinking that more of the early history of Balochistan needs to be known and also that perhaps that the section about Prince Abdul Karim Khan also needs to have its own article. Thanks for uploading Image:PIC1111.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion of Mirani

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mirani requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. A tag has been placed on Pakistan Educational Research Network 2 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Replaceable fair use File:Achakzai1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Achakzai1.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 14:14, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:20, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
