Rhetorical Analysis (Week 1)

[edit]

Strengths and weaknesses. I looked up a Calvin and Hobbes page, and the page was laid out and organized in a well structured way. The lead section gives a good summary and background of Calvin and Hobbes. The strengths are definitely in organization, detail, balance, and balance in each section, but the details could go further. Some of the articles describe awards given to Bill Watterson were only said to be given to him, but not named. Otherwise it is a very strong article. This Article started on August 31st, 2001. There were no picture of the characters and there was a lot less information in each section. The sections in existence now existed in 2001, but they are lengthened and cited. The formatting was poor and not as appealing. There was also no content box. Lots of the edits were first about editing the characters and correcting information about the author. It added immediately after the page was created. About half were minimal edits, but the other half were not; they were content edits. The most recent one was made today, February 10th, 2016. Many of them are discredited by others who have more authority for this page, but it is still active. There are multiple pages in the Talk page. One of the main points of the page’s claims is that it is not about content, but there are talk pages dedicated to it. In the beginning the talk page was used to talk about edits, but now it is more of a fan page. TheStickMan is the most prominent and recent editor and conversationalist on the history and talk page. I could not find any places to edit or sources to add since this article has been worked on since 2001.
