Timing of your comments

[edit]

Hi, I wanted to ask about a comment you made at Talk:Generic object of dark energy. First of all, I do appreciate that you disclosed your WP:COI, but it's unusual that someone would know to do that as their very first edit to Wikipedia. The timing of your appearance on the talk page of the article so soon after its creation is also rather unusual. So I was wondering: did something in particular happen to draw your attention here? Thanks in advance, –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 17:05, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning Deacon Vorbis. I anticipated interest in the acronym, so I made an edit to Geode (disambiguation) to add the acronym. I was able to do this anonymously, as the page already existed (I had no account at that point). I thought to write a skeleton page, in the manner I discussed in Talk:Generic object of dark energy. It has been many years since I had tried to edit WP in any way, and it appeared that 1) new pages had to be created by named accounts, 2) new pages no longer initially went live. When I tried to begin the skeleton page, part of the "New Editing Wizard" said I should declare a COI, which I did.
Other things came up, and I forgot about WP until my colleague let me know yesterday evening that someone had already made a WP page. Now that I'm a little more familiar with WP Notability, I feel the thing should be deleted for Notability reasons. I am maximally COI though, so it seemed inappropriate I vote for deletion of something about our work, especially something that looked kind of "janky" in its current form.
Please let me know if I have suitably answered your questions, or if I may be of assistance to you in any other way. Kcroker (talk) 18:44, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
