MIO role in PAL activity
[edit]Thanks for working on the MIO aspect of this enzyme! On the Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase article, you wrote, "MIO is a more electrophilic version of dehydroalanine that was previously thought to serve as cofactor in PAL and HAL." I'm confused by "previously". Do you mean that MIO is no longer thought to serve as cofactor (instead having some other technical role, or no role at all)? Or that dehydroalanine was thought th serve as cofactor until it was discovered that it is actually MIO instead? DMacks (talk) 15:13, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know where to answer so I'll write here. Yes, before the MIO discovery, it was proposed that a post-translational modification led to the formation of dehydroalanine in the active site of PAL. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kateryna Kukil (UU) (talk • contribs) 13:19, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I reworded the article and made parallel wordings in dehydroalanine as well. DMacks (talk) 13:53, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
