Hello, Karolina7, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Yunshui, and as you may already know I am your Online Ambassador for the UBC Human Ecology course. My job here is to help you to work within Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, to answer any questions that you have about editing here, and to act as your advocate in the (unlikely) event that you find yourself in a dispute with another user.

You are welcome to contact me at any time by leaving a message on my Wikipedia talkpage or by emailing me. I will usually respond to any messages within 24 hours (though I aim to be faster!), but if you need more immediate help, you can ask questions of experienced editors at The Teahouse or get live help via Wikipedia's IRC channel (connect here).

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Once again, if you need help with any aspect of Wikipedia, please just ask; it's what I'm here for. Enjoy your course! Yunshui  23:19, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on your BIOL 345 proposal

[edit]

My only serious concern is how you will establish a 'Neutral Point of View', since at present your main sources are promotional materials produced by YVR. For example, your list of topics matches that on the YVR sustainability page. Try to think of other airport- associated sustainability issues, ones that YVR may not be so happy to brag about. For example, what happens to all that de-icing solution they spray on planes? How do they handle spilled fuel? What about things other airports are doing but YVR is not? What do people who live near YVR (Burkeville) complain about? Are there articles in local newspapers about sustainability problems?

You should also probably plan to go out to the airport and have a good look around (i.e. not when you need to catch a plane). Take your own photos that you can use to illustrate your article.

Think carefully about whether you want this to be a separate page or a section in the current YVR page. I see that there's a big section on Accessibility but nothing on sustainability. Yunshui may be able to point you to some guidelines about this. Rosieredfield (talk) 00:33, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please do your composing and editing in a Wikipedia sandbox. This will help build your familiarity with Wikipedia and will also allow me to keep an eye on your progress, offering help if I think it's appropriate.

Hi Karolina. Just to add to what Rosie has said above, you will need to locate some sources which are independent of YVR in order to create an article - the ones in your sandbox at the moment would not be considered acceptable. Have a look at the answer to everything to get an idea of the sort of thing you'll need.
AFAIK we don't have any specific guidelines on sustainability in airport-related articles, though you might want to have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports/page content to see how airport articles should be laid out. Yunshui  08:54, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Our Page

[edit]

Hey Karolina! I started the template of our page, hopefully this is roughly what we were planning for it to look like lol. I created a separate sandbox for it here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Kaylerz/YVRsandbox So just get back to me to double check that it works and what not :)

Hey! I added the pictures I took at YVR onto our Sandbox, let me know which one's you think we should use for sure! Also, feel free to edit the descriptions and what not because I did them super fast just for the sake of being able to upload them lol. Let me know if you want me to send you any specific pictures too! --Kaylerz (talk) 06:47, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Teamwork Barnstar
To duplicate the one on Kaylerz's page - well done to you both. Yunshui  22:41, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
