The Lost Hero

Hey, looks good. Here are just a few things I saw right away:

  • Refs 1-3 need accessdates and authors if avaliable
  • Ref 16 needs a URL and an accessdate
  • Ref 15 is dead
  • Ref 4 is probably not needed anymore, now that The Son of Neptune is out and stuff.
  • The last paragraph in "Development and promotion" needs some refs, and could probably be expanded.
  • Update/expand NYT bestseller list; not sure if that was the last date it was on there or not.
  • "Release" and "Critical reception" can probably be combined, like in The Son of Neptune.

I'll see if I can go over some of the prose later. Looks pretty good, though! It received a peer review last year so you may want to check that out, too. Glimmer721 talk 00:37, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi there KANGAROO, VASCO here,

his footballing name is FREDDY and that's it, not FREDDY DOS SANTOS. I improved the article's display, did not vandalize it any way OK? Not even my summary was "dangerous", if anything it was assertive even tough i could have explained myself better there.

Attentively, from Portugal - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 01:39, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Yes, i understand your actions completely my friend, no problems :) About the person's complete name, yes it appears in the box also, in the section "full name", what i altered was the "player name". Best also --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:17, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

ITN

Hi, do you think this week would be a good time to start up ITN again? If so, please let me know if you need assistance. Tony (talk) 11:01, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm really busy this week but I should be able to start working on it again next week. I possible, could you include some links to previous ITNzs? Ive seen some, but links would be very helpful ;). Thanks, --Kangaroopowah 16:20, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Sure. ITN hasn't been covered every week in 2012, unlike previous years, I think. Varies considerably in length and content each week.

RE: Percy Jackson GAs

I'm pretty sure the PJ task force is inactive. Battle of the Labyrinth did receive a GA review a while back which you could look at for reference. I'm not sure what all I can add as I haven't seen too much on the actual development of Labyrinth or Last Olympian, which is typically needed, though as books 2 and 3 hardly have this I suppose all that is needed is clean up. Your GA nomination of The Lost Hero

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article The Lost Hero you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. BlueMoonset (talk) 13:44, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Rollback Script

Hi Kangaroopower, I was just wondering on the status of the mass rollback script? Regards, Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 09:29, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

I just need to fix two more bugs with the script and it should be completely ready. Give mean around 10 minutes. --Kangaroopowah 23:30, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
The script still isn't working for me, the form appears and I can type into it, but nothing happens when I click "Rollback Some" or "Rollback All", any ideas? Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 05:47, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Rewrote it a day or two after the update I promised you. Now it uses my own js library and should work. I'm pretty sure I know why before it didn't work but now it should... hard refresh your cache, then open console and type MRollback.version. If you don't get 2.11, it's not updated enough. If it's at 2.11, it should work. I'll look more into it if it still breaks. Btw, what's your browser and OS. Best, --Kangaroopowah 06:11, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
I've uninstalled it (then emptied cache) and reinstalled it (then emptied cache) and the button aren't working. I'm using Windows Vista, and I've tried on Google Chrome and IE9. How do I get to the console? Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 07:31, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello

I just want to let you know that I recognize that you are acting in good faith in the Stavros Malas matter, even though I disagree with you. I hope this doesn't discourage you as a newcomer at AfD. I support deleting many articles, so if you learn as you go and keep nominating, I am sure we will agree often. Take care. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:35, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, for this I should have seen WP:POLITICIAN first. I had no idea the page existed and wasn't doing this "to further my editcount" ;). Are there any useful policy pages you'd reccomend for me? --Kangaroopowah 19:43, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
I don't agree at all with the remark someone else made about edit counts, so I wouldn't worry about that. When it comes to the AfD process, the most important thing to be aware of are the notability guidelines. As well as the main guideline, check out the subject-specific guidelines that interest you, which are linked from the box on the right near the top of the page. Also useful is an understanding of reliable sources. Read everything at WP:AFD especially the tips for contributing to a discussion. The policy on biographies of living people is especially important.
With regards to Stavros Malas and similar cases, my belief is that if a topic is notable, then the solution to an unreferenced stub is to expand it a bit and add some references, rather than nominating it for deletion. There will always be room for debate, but in this case, it didn't take more than a minute or two, knowing nothing about Cypriot politics, for me to learn that he is a notable guy worthy of a Wikipedia article. Good luck at AfD - there is a learning curve but I have found it to be a rewarding place to contribute to the encyclopedia. Feel free to ask questions at any time, and I wish you well. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:09, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I was about to change the image myself as I realized it didn't work, and I did change the part about him being friends with himself, just a typo. I understand the concern about the friendship issue, as I explained to Freshfighter9 the fact that they are close is personal knowledge, and the Sudbury Star article was the closest I could find to a truly reliable source. I understand completely why you removed it. Thank you for the clarification as I am a newcomer to Wikipedia, and I appreciate the help of a Wiki veteran! Edgehead1212 (talk) 01:02, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Dear Kangaroopower,

While I appreciate your kind message, I prefer to base Wikipedia on facts, not the opinions of its community.

It may be tough for one who's been told their entire life something that such a thing is wrong, however a human being who does not assume and looks at things objectively instead of remaining in denial is a more complete and understanding person.

Obviously this is not the case for the person that instantly assumes one is a troll for making Wikipedia edits and that all conspiracy theories must be completely wrong for going against the common standard and are made up by insane fools.

I wonder how such a person could live like you. You believe you are on the right side and doing the right thing even though you are simply trying to desperately hang onto what you've been lectured on for such a long time.

I refer you once again to my video. If you really want to prove yourself as someone different from whom I just described, please watch it and then get back to me. Or you could continue living in your silly little world and instinctively deny all of this without a second thought, like you may be doing now. In which case, I question how you think you could possibly think you are somehow logical for doing such a thing.

What is this script you speak of? Ryan Vesey Review me! 15:22, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi!
I think the window.AjaxMovedev === 'undefined' which is at User:Kangaroopower/ajaxMove.js should be replaced by window.AjaxMovedev === undefined and the $(document).ready(AjaxMove.init); could be replaced by AjaxMove.init();, because your code is already inside of $(function(){...}). Oh and it's ready Ryan. --Kangaroopowah 01:20, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Before I add it, what exactly does it do? Ryan Vesey Review me! 01:24, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Well it creates a portlet link that opens a popup dialog that lets you enter a summary and the new location of the page and a move link. When you click the move link, it uses the API to move the page the new location using the summary given. If there is an error, it will state it and you can tell me about it ;). Best, --Kangaroopowah 01:28, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Can you explain this. What's wrong with "Daughter of Bellona" or why is it "Daugter of Bellona"? Regards, SunCreator (talk) 22:01, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Ugg sorry. I meant to revert the edits of the person before you back to this. I never meant to rv your edits. My bad. --Kangaroopowah 22:51, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Okay, could you now fix the typo Daugter → Daughter. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 22:54, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
The person who I rv'd added the typo. It was gone with my rv. --Kangaroopowah 23:42, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
I don't think so. Can you check again. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 04:07, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Forest zoom burst.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Forest zoom burst.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:19, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Huggle 3

Hey Kangaroopower! I am Petrb, one of core developers of Huggle, the antivandalism tool, which you are beta testing (according to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers). I am happy to announce that Huggle 3 is ready for some testing. You can read more about it at WP:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta. Please keep in mind that this is a development version and it is not ready for regular use. That means you must:

  • Watch your contribs - when anything happens you didn't want, fix it and report a bug
  • Frequently checkout source code and build latest version, we change it a lot

If you find any problem with a feature that is supposed to work perfectly, please let us know. Some features are not ready yet, it is listed in known problems on Huggle3 beta page, you don't need to report these - we know it! So, that's it. Have fun testing and please let us know about any problems, either using bugzilla @ http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/ or #huggle connect. Please respond to my talk page, I am not going to watch your talk page. Thank you Petrb (talk) 10:57, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Huggle 3 beta is out - and we need more feedback!

Hey Kangaroopower, how are you? I am Petrb, one of huggle developers, and you are currently subscribed as a beta tester of huggle on meta (meta:Huggle/Members. You may not have noticed, but this week I released first beta precompiled installers for ubuntu and microsoft windows! Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta has all the links you need. So if you can, please download it, test it and report all bugs that is really what we need now. Don't forgot that as it's just a beta it's unstable and there are some known issues. Be carefull! Thank you for helping us with huggle Petrb (talk) 16:21, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

We need your help testing latest huggle

Hello,

I am sending you this message because you listed yourself on meta:Huggle/Members as a beta tester. We desperately need attention of testers, because since we resolved all release blockers, we are ready to release first official version of huggle 3! Before that happens, it would be nice if you could test it so that we can make sure there are no issues with it. You can download it packaged for your operating system (see Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta) or you can of course build it yourself, see https://github.com/huggle/huggle3-qt-lx for that. Don't forget to use always latest version, there is no auto-update message for beta versions!

Should you find any issue, please report it to wikimedia bugzilla, that is a central place for huggle bugs, where we look at them. That is i mportant, if you find a bug and won't report it, we can't fix it. Thank you for your work on this, if you have any questions, please send me a message on my talk page, I won't be looking for responses here. Thanks, Petrb (talk) 15:13, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Igloo disabled

Hi, please see Wikipedia_talk:Igloo#Disabled. I hope we can get the tool up and running again shortly. Legoktm (talk) 18:48, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon

Hi Kangaroopower, we are to release a new major version of huggle, but we did receive almost no feedback from our beta testing team, which you are a part of (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members). It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. You can always get a help with making it @ #huggle connect!

Major changes:

  • Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
  • Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
  • Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

In case you found a bug, please report it to bugzilla: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/buglist.cgi?product=Huggle&list_id=147663 thank you! Petrb (talk) 10:10, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Huggle message

Hey Kangaroopower! You are receiving this message because you are subscribed at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers

I have recently launched a new downloads for beta testers that contains nightly builds of huggle, eg. versions that are built every day from our master branch and contains latest huggle. These builds are currently provided only for Windows and Ubuntu. You can find them here: http://huggle.wmflabs.org/builds/

Please keep in mind that these don't have any automatic updates and if you download and start using nightly build, you will need to update it yourself! So don't get yourself to running old version, it's possible to install both stable and nightly huggle, which is what I suggest.

Keep the bug reports coming to phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/create/?projects=Huggle Many thanks! Petrb (talk) 09:58, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for using VisualEditor and sharing your ideas with the developers. My apologies if you're getting this message more than once, and/or not in your favorite language.

Hello, Kangaroopower,

I am contacting you because you have left feedback about VisualEditor at pages like mw:VisualEditor/Feedback in the past. The Editing team is now asking for your help with VisualEditor. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work well for you. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.

You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. This survey is powered by Qualtrics and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policy.

More information (including a translatable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

Percy Jackson Task-force

Hi, I'm looking to help revamp the Percy Jackson Task-force, a project dedicated to maintaining articles related to Rick Riordan and Percy Jackson & the Olympians. I noticed your edits on some articles that fall under this task-force's "jurisdiction", and I wanted to invite you to join! If you're interested, I'd like to invite you to become a full member; please note that the difficult requirements for membership are going to be lowered in the near future, so you can join worry-free (I know they scared me away on the first try.). You can also become just a "supporter", if that's more your speed.

Head on over to the project page if you're interested -- and no hard feelings if you're not. Thanks again in advance, and feel free to contact me on my Talk page. 2ReinreB2 (talk) 06:31, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. JavaScript RegExp problem

I noticed you have experience in JavaScript. I'm hoping you can help me with a problem I've run into writing a userscript.

Please see my post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject JavaScript#Nested RegExp.

igloo

Hi Kangaroopower. Just a quick question: are you still maintaining igloo? The changelog hasn't been updated for a couple of years and the talk page seems abandoned... no problem if you aren't (I'm sure I can find some other anti-vandalism tool, although it was always my favourite), but I thought I'd check in with you and see whether the tool still had someone to look after it. All the best, Yunshui  22:10, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

@Yunshui: Hi! Sorry for the late response- life has been very hectic these past weeks (and these past few years ahaha). I'm still working on Igloo, but the plans I had for the next, 1.0, version of Igloo were very ambitious and I simply wasn't a good enough coder to accomplish what I wanted to do when I was working on it originally. Hopefully this summer should bring with it updates to Igloo.
I also noticed that there were some bugs on the talk page (which i unfortunately haven't checked in a while) that prevented users from using Igloo. If possible, could you expand on what bugs you've been experiencing and I'll hopefully be able to push a hotfix for that bug sometime next week. Thanks so much, --Kangaroopowah 09:55, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
That's fabulous news, and I'm delighted to hear that igloo is still in capable hands. My current bug is that it just doesn't work (oh how I love it when users give me that explanation). The igloo option vanished from my sidebar menu a while back, and (at that time) going directly to the launch option at WP:GLOO just caused the page to hang. I've just reinstalled and cleared my cache per the current instructions at WP:GLOO, but this hasn't changed things - no sidebar option, and WP:GLOO no longer has a launch button... a fix would be welcomed but there's no rush; I've managed without for this long, I can go a few days more. @Yunshui: Hi! Could you clear your cache and let me know if it's working for you now? Thanks, --Kangaroopowah 10:24, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
Hooray! Thank you very much indeed - whatever you did, it now works again. Happy days! Yunshui  10:48, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

@Yunshui: Glad I could help! Have a good one, --Kangaroopowah 20:47, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
