A tag has been placed on Vishaw Kalra requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Information icon Hello, I'm Darius robin. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Varun Dhawan, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Darius robin (talk) 04:22, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Varun Dhawan, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Darius robin (talk) 11:26, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Jab Harry Met Sejal. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Ravensfire (talk) 15:45, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, re: this, per WP:OVERLINK, we don't need multiple wikilinks for the same person/place/thing. Wikilinks compete for reader attention, and having articles saturated with them can actually be counterproductive. If a link for a person already exists, especially in the same general section, please refrain from adding a repeat. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 09:00, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits

Hi Kalra Vishaw, I have unfortunately had to suppress some of your edits because they reveal too much personally identifiable information about you. We have a policy of protecting editors' safety by hiding such information if they share it. I'm really sorry about having to suppress your edits, and I know it's annoying, but it's for the best. Please don't re-add the information. For some useful information on privacy and safety, you can take a look at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors and Wikipedia:On privacy, confidentiality and discretion. Thanks, and sorry for messing about with your pages! Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 11:43, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Vishaw, the above notice is related to your user page, which contained too much personal information about yourself. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 11:50, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vishaw, regarding your recently created articles Destiny: The Revenge Left Incomplete and Endurance (2017 Novel), Wikipedia has very specific notability guidelines. We can't create articles on every subject under the sun. A subject does not deserve an article just because it exists. Though I applaud your efforts to write books, writing articles about those books at Wikipedia is a bit problematic, because the articles don't meet our general notability guideline.

The guideline states: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list." This means that in order to create an article about these books at Wikipedia, multiple major news sites, magazines, books must have written about these stories and consider them notable. Until that time, the community looks at these articles as advertisements, and the articles are certainly going to be deleted.

If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them below. In the interim, I have to also suggest that you not write articles about subjects that you are involved with. This is called having a conflict of interest. One day when your writing gains the attention of mainstream critics, I'm sure some fans of yours will create an article about your books. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 11:49, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Kalra Vishaw. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Endurance (2017 Novel), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AllyD (talk) 19:23, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vishaw, please explain how you arrived at the conclusion that PinkzillaPinkvilla released this image into the public domain. It sounds an awful lot to me like you made that up. There's nothing at PinkzillaPinkvilla that would lead me to believe that 1) they owned the photo and 2) they released it into the public domain freely. Please explain this. If you can't or refuse to answer it, I will likely have to block your account until you understand our copyright policies. You can't copy content from other sites and upload or paste it into Wikipedia. Copying is academically dishonest and it presents serious legal concerns. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:28, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Typograpical error on my part. I mistakenly said "Pinkzilla", not "Pinkvilla". The bigger issue is your claim that the image is owned by Pinkvilla, who released it into the public domain. How do you substantiate that? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:16, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your answer here is unhelpful. I don't think you understand the question or the severity of the copyright problem you've created. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:25, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Writing about yourself

[edit]

You are welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, but it is not a social media site like Facebook or LinkedIn for people to write about themselves. It is a quite different sort of site, a project to build an encyclopedia, so it is selective about subjects for articles. Writing about oneself is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography.

Wikipedia user pages are not like those at social networking sites. Their use is explained at WP:NOTWEBHOST:

"Wikipedians have individual user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to work on the encyclopedia. Limited autobiographical information is allowed, but user pages do not serve as personal webpages, blogs, or repositories for large amounts of material irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia. If you want to post your résumé or make a personal webpage, please use one of the many free providers on the Internet or any hosting included with your Internet account. The focus of user pages should not be social networking or amusement, but rather providing a foundation for effective collaboration. Humorous pages that refer to Wikipedia in some way may be created in an appropriate namespace. Personal web pages are often speedily deleted."

You can find out more about Wikipedia at the WP:Welcome page and the WP:Introduction, as well as Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide and Wikipedia's guide for younger editors. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:20, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vishaw, if you create any more articles about yourself or your projects, you will be blocked. I have explained to you that a subject's notability must be established when an article is built. You have not established that you are notable. These articles you've created are vanity projects, they are entirely promotional, and they have no place at Wikipedia. Replaceable fair use File:Shraddha Kapoor Half Girlfriend.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Shraddha Kapoor Half Girlfriend.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 23:19, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you plan on editing Indian entertainment articles, you should first famliiarise yourself with our general reliable sourcing guidelines. You should also familiarise yourself with WP:ICTF#Guideline on sources, which are more specific to Indian film articles. Sources like "bollymoviereviewz", which are basically faceless sites trying to make a buck by printing clickbait data, should never be used. Bottom line, if you don't know who runs a site i.e. who the seasoned, respected, award-winning journalist is behind a site, you should not use that site as a reference. Hate to shatter the illusion, but Indian entertainment is full of inflated box office claims and other promotional nonsense. Keep a steady head. It is upsetting that you added content to Wikipedia that you lifted from other sources like thequint.com and moneycontrol.com. I now have to check the entire article to see what other content you lifted. All prose added to Wikipedia must be written from scratch in your own words, not copied or even closely paraphrased from other sources. As part of our copyright policy that you have already been blocked for, when you copy content like a filmography from Shraddha Kapoor and use it in another article like you did here at Shraddha Kapoor Filmography, you need to provide proper copyright attribution. Usually that is as simple as using an edit summary that says "Content copied from [[Shraddha Kapoor]], see that article's history for attribution" when you paste the content. Since you didn't do that, you need to use the {{copied}} template, as explained at WP:CWW. Please fix this.

Other notes:

  • "Shraddha Kapoor Filmography" is incorrectly capitalised. It should be lowercase filmography, since we use "Sentence case" not "Title Case" in article titles and section headings.
  • Do not use fluffy, hyperbolic words like "blockbuster", "super hit", "failure", "flop", "disaster" as you did at Shraddha Kapoor Filmography. Wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia. We're not here to drool over article subjects or to criticise. We write neutrally. "The film was a financial success" (when properly referenced) is far more neutral than saying "The film was declared all-time blockbuster status!!!"
  • Please familiarise yourself with our Manual of Style.

Vishaw, re: this, two important things. 1) The |gross= parameter of the film infobox is for money made at the box office. That means tickets sold, not satellite rights or "landing fees" or any of that other crap. Don't inflate figures by using incorrect metrics, and see Template:Infobox film instructions. 2) You need to very quickly familiarise yourself with what sources are and are not suitable for inclusion at Wikipedia, because you submit a faceless blog or content harvester like jackace.in again, I'm probably going to revoke your editing privileges. This issue has been brought to your attention several times already. Bollywoodlife is also insufficient as a reference as is Bollymoviereviewz. We only care what mainstream sources with established reputations for fact-checking and accuracy have to say about anything. That means major news sites, typically, not blogs, not unverified Twitter accounts, not random websites you find but know nothing about. Please take a look at WP:ICTF#Guidelines on sources to get a sense for what can and cannot be used. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:36, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kalra Vishaw, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
