Gebremichael of Tigray moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Gebremichael of Tigray, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Za Dembalé moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Za Dembalé. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 22:50, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

can i get my friend to help? KallebTigray (talk) 00:56, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @KallebTigray: You blanked that page for some reason. Mainspace articles are never blanked. There is never a blank article on Wikipedia. If you keep doing that your going to get blocked. Its deeply uncool behaviour. Its disruptive editing. scope_creepTalk 18:26, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bro what? I cleared the page because the Kingdom of Adal was a different entity from the Adal Sultanate. I forgot to edit the page which i am now currently doing. Please do not connect two different entities with eachother and thank you. KallebTigray (talk) 21:10, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@KallebTigray: You should probably create the article in WP:DRAFT. Your leaving these finished, barely even started articles without references which is completly uncool. If its a seperate Kingdom with a similar name, fair enough but at least in draft you can work on it, hassle free for 6 months without interference. I wouldn't clear down any articles again. Admin will block you for that in a New York minute. They're not really keen on it at all. I hope you take my advice. If you need help, ping me. scope_creepTalk 01:37, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. KallebTigray (talk) 04:01, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Scope creep, note this article was deleted in 2019 Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adal Kingdom, hence dont restore it KallebTigray. Magherbin (talk) 10:22, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to be a quite a comprehensive merge consensus in that Afd. I would suggest not writing it @KallebTigray: as its been considered non-notable and it will be sent back to Afd if promoted out of draft into mainspace. There is always plenty of other stuff to work on. scope_creepTalk 10:57, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah but i have reliable sources found, describing a kingdom known as "Adal" but not in the 9th century, it was more so founded as a result of the collapse of the Axumite Kingdom itself. It also absorbed Somali City States more so Zeila into it. There is a book about the Kingdom. KallebTigray (talk) 16:20, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also saw mentions of the Kingdom of Adal literally on Wikipedia, its in the article of Djibouti and the History of Somalia, so i dont see a problem with making an article about it. KallebTigray (talk) 16:24, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Agʿazi People. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You cited four sources, two of which do not corroborate what you wrote, another that is an incomplete citation (perahps this was WP:COPYPASTEd from another article?), and another that is self-published. Gyrofrog (talk) 22:14, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

They do corroborate? I reviewed them and they go perfectly with my claim. KallebTigray (talk) 02:05, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They didn't. The opening sentence (at least at the time of my edit) read:

The Ag'azi People, also known as Agazi People, were a people who ruled the Kingdom of D'mt, Kingdom of Aksum, and even the Land of Punt for a period of time, under the Ag'azyan Dynasty and the Solomonic Dynasty, a Dynasty that ruled the Land of Punt for a period of time, being the predecessor of the Solomonic Dynasty, with Sheba being its last dynastic ruler, and the Ag'azi People are the ancestors of Habesha's.

You cited four different sources for this. Of those, the Smidt & Munro-Hay do not really back up this text (for example: there's a difference between "the Ag'azi People are the ancestors of Habesha" - which you wrote - and "The pre-Aksumite kings - at least some of them - descended from the Ag'azi" which is what Smidt actually says about it). That's why I split those two citations off with new sentences, to reflect what those two sources actually do say (and for the reader's convenience, I included relevant quotes from those sources with the citations. You can see the edit I made here: diff.) As for the other two sources, one was incomplete (which someone else came along & fixed in the meantime), & the other is self-published, which isn't allowed. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 20:53, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thats because i literally used sources on there for different parts of the sentence... KallebTigray (talk) 00:28, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit

[edit]

Please stop editing when you don't know anything about what your talking about JUMPp1harm (talk) 23:20, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I know exactly what im talking about??? What do you even mean? KallebTigray (talk) 02:17, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Respectfully, no, you don't. At least not about Aksum. JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:12, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've literally been researching about Axum for a long time. Axum was succeeded literally by all of those states and there is sources to my claim. KallebTigray (talk) 03:13, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Stop meddling with the reigns of kings. Return them to their original state. They were already right. JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:15, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Which kings are you even talking about? KallebTigray (talk) 03:16, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All of them. Why did you change it? JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:19, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All of them? Be more specific. KallebTigray (talk) 03:20, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oral history isn't reliable. Stop meddling with the kings list and their reigns JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:18, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Who is even talking about Oral History? And im clearly asking you, WHICH KINGS are you even talking about. Ive done my research. I always do before doing edits. KallebTigray (talk) 03:20, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Stop including kings who never existed. Only documented kings with coins or inscriptions or mentioned by contemporary historians are valid. Or add in a separate section. Most scholars don't take the kings list seriously JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:24, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Za Zalis and Za Dembale if those are what you are talking about, they did exist. There is documents literally about them and even are stated as the Predecessor/Successor of Za Haqala. And if you are talking about Zena Petros, he is LITERALLY STATED in multiple articles and documents of Zagwe History and even Damot History as he led a campaign against the Kingdom of Damot during his Reign. KallebTigray (talk) 03:26, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No they didn't. You don't know anything. There is a reason why they weren't included in the list before you added them. Stop messing with it. There is no contemporary evidence for their existence JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:31, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thats a quite false accusation there. There is sources STATING of their existence and I can site some right now. And also, Axum had Kings before they even started making massive amounts of Golden Coins within their Kingdom. I think youre the one who doesn't know anything. KallebTigray (talk) 03:36, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you don't understand but these "sources" aren't reliable considering they are from 1000+ later. Obviously kings existed but we don't know who. There is a reason why they weren't included in the list before you added them. Use your brain JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:40, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If there is literally documentations from ancient times about these kings, they most definetely existed unless it was basically myths, inwhich this one is not. If one of them is fake, then why is za dembale have stated to have possibly contacted roman emperor nerva? and why is Richard Pankhurst, a RELIABLE SOURCE, stating his existence? I literally have a copy of his book right now and i can give quotes FROM THE BOOK. KallebTigray (talk) 03:42, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Give me the book and page JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:48, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pankhurst, Richard (1998). The Ethiopians: A History (2nd ed.). Great Britain: Wiley (published 2001). pp. 45–46. ISBN 978-0631224938 KallebTigray (talk) 03:50, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried finding this book online before and couldn't, but I've read multiple other books and never heard anything about what you're saying. It's probably some nonsense. JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:56, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It isnt nonsense? This is a historian we are talking about here. Read his article. Richard Pankhurst KallebTigray (talk) 03:57, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ooops wrong person, i meant Richard Pankhurst (historian) KallebTigray (talk) 03:57, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know him and you linked the wrong person. I can't find the book online but i've read multiple other books about aksum and never heard of what your saying. JUMPp1harm (talk) 04:02, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have a direct copy of the Book. Also its basically because Za Dembale and Za Zalis are both kings that are not very well known about as very few documentations survive about them and their reigns. They are mainly only known because they are the predecessor/successor of za haqala and one of them had contact with roman emperor nerva. Its very difficult to find anything about these Kings which is why i understand why it feels like they are fake. KallebTigray (talk) 04:09, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Richard Pankhurst is not always correct. Can you provide evidence to support your claim? Do contemporary Roman historians mention him or something? What is the evidence and why is it not included in other books about Aksum? Have you read Munro Hay's book? JUMPp1harm (talk) 04:15, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Like i said before, its because very few documentations survive about the two kings as they were either barley documented or some of their inscriptions were destroyed. I dont have much of the sources but one of my friends do. Infact he is the one who gave me many sources about za dembale. Ill find more sources about the two. KallebTigray (talk) 04:22, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please, I don't have time for this nonsense. I've read virtually everything about Aksum and never heard of anything about your saying. Go read the book by Munro Hay if you want to learn or Foundations of an African Civilization Aksum & the Northern Horn, 1000 BC - AD 1300 By D. W. Phillipson. You're just making stuff up JUMPp1harm (talk) 04:27, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Im not making it up? I even sent the page that states the Roman-Axumite communications... KallebTigray (talk) 04:34, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I already told you, I can't find the book online. What's his source? Is it a Roman historian or something. JUMPp1harm (talk) 04:44, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can see that you cant find the book online, but that doesnt mean im making this up. Im taking it straight from the book. KallebTigray (talk) 04:46, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then tell me what his source? JUMPp1harm (talk) 04:47, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
wdym by "his source"? KallebTigray (talk) 04:56, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you understand these sources were created long after Aksum. Most scholars don't consider them credible. It's late, I don't have time for your foolishness. If you genuinely want to learn, read "Aksum: An African Civilisation of Late Antiquity" by Munro Hay. A historian who conducted excavations at Aksum and shared virtually all available information about Aksum from every possible source. There is a reason why he excludes these kings. JUMPp1harm (talk) 03:54, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You do realize Richard Pankhurst did excavations AND researching to make these documents right? Why would he just make up random Historical Documents? He is literally one of the most Reliable People upon Ethiopian History. KallebTigray (talk) 03:56, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you by chance even know who Richard Pankhurst is? He states the existance of Za Dembale. KallebTigray (talk) 03:37, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I know who he is. I told you I can't find the book online. What is the evidence? JUMPp1harm (talk) 04:08, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a reliable source. It appears you have used it again at Draft:King Joram even after being made aware this is a mirror. Please stop; you cannot use WP:CIRCULAR references. Sam Kuru (talk) 17:19, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
how is it unreliable? did you even read anything i said at all? i LITERALLY told you that i added that source myself, and i didnt want to add it to other sources over and over again so i copied and pasted it. i mirrored my own self. if this source is so unreliable, please explain how. KallebTigray (talk) 17:22, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That website is a Wikipedia mirror, as I noted in the links I gave you: WP:MIRROR and WP:CIRCULAR. It is an older copy of our article at Kingdom of Simien. We cannot use our own site as a reference, and we certainly cannot use a junk mirror site that strips out the actual sources used in the making of the article here. You will need to link to actual reliable sources that support the specific claims in your drafts. If you need more assistance in understanding this, please let me know. Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes), a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

My Bad, i forgot to add the sources. Also, im changing the date because of the most literal fact that literally the Kingdom of Axum started out as a city state. I will grab the source for the Dawaro Sultanate soon. KallebTigray (talk) 17:09, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
found a source about the 400 B.C. btw. https://www.heritagedaily.com/2020/03/the-kingdom-of-aksum-africas-lost-empire/119720 KallebTigray (talk) 17:13, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No don't change the date or bring back those edits. The Aksumite polity arose in the 1st century AD. Socialwave597 (talk) 17:30, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i JUST sent you a source proving Axum existed in 400 B.C. KallebTigray (talk) 18:00, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, it says that the proto-Aksumite Iron Age period began in around 400 BC and that the Aksumite state existed from AD 100 to 940. The Dir Somalis never lived in Dawaro, nor was there a sultanate after the collapse of Aksum. You really need to stop with this original research, otherwise a permeant block is practically imminent. Socialwave597 (talk) 18:42, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
what the hell do you even mean by "original research" KallebTigray (talk) 19:21, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sewasew | Sultanate of Dawaro (የዳዋሮ ሱልጣኔት) KallebTigray (talk) 19:22, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
its literally even on wikipedia lol... "The early Adal Kingdom (9th century to 13th century) was an exclusive Dir Kingdom with its capital being Zeila. In the 10th century, the Jarso clan a sub-division of Dir established the Dawaro Sultanate centred in Hararghe Highlands." KallebTigray (talk) 19:23, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Emirate of Adal, which existed somewhere on the lower side of the Awash River, was largely an Afar polity as explained by Richard Pankhurst[1]. Dawaro was a region that existed in modern day Arsi province and was never mentioned in the historical records until the 14th century. Gideon IV moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Gideon IV. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and Gideon IV appears to be a legendary figure, not a real person, and this article should reflect that. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. voorts (talk/contributions) 04:38, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by inserting unpublished information or your personal analysis into an article, as you did at Agʿazi People. You wrote " The D'mt Kingdom was a Kingdom that had prospered through trade under the Ag'azi People" then cited a source that makes no mention whatsoever of "Ag'azi People" (nor "D'mt," "Menelik," "Solomon," "650," "980" nor pretty much anything else you wrote). That is original research, and this is the last time you'll be warned about it. If there are other sources that support this, then don't make assertions until you can cite the sources. stfu!!!! KallebTigray (talk) 03:23, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
bro i literally asked you to elaborate on original research and you didnt. literally ELABORATE. KallebTigray (talk) 03:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Literally all it means is just stop adding material which you have no sources for. That's it. Do not add anything unless you cited a source directly supporting it. Socialwave597 (talk) 07:06, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
More specifically, it means don't write something and cite a source that doesn't support it. It's been repeatedly pointed out to you, and not only by me. What happened when you read Wikipedia:No original research? That page describes one of Wikipedia's policies; it's not optional. If you can't, don't, or won't understand it, then I'm afraid Wikipedia is not the place for you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:25, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
