Adoption

Yeah, i'd be happy to be adopted by you! ImperviusXR (talk) 18:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Just general things, I think ImperviusXR (talk) 18:32, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Very nice job on the adoption, by the way. I never got that kind of thorough treatment! Did you write all that yourself (all the information you added to the Impervius page). Enigma msg! 22:37, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

re. A question about GA reviewing

I've replied on my talk page, just as an FYI in case you didn't watchlist. By the way, very impressed to see you've only been here since my b'day last year. Keep it up! dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 22:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Re:Oops

If you have suggestions for "In the news", I suggest that you post them here: Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/Newsroom/Suggestions. Thanks. enochlau (talk) 09:22, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

You can probably withdraw and close the nomination if you wish. Relevant templates: {{subst:at}}, {{subst:ab}}. Then edit the article, and you'll find the {{oldafdfull}} you need commented there (it goes on the talk page). Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 07:00, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Percussion portal and others

First of all, let me say I'm very impressed by you. You've been here about 4 months and have already done much more work than I have in my two and a half years here. Anyway, in my time here, I've been particularly interested in the articles on percussion, as I noticed you have been, too (especially jazz drumming it seems, which is a passion of mine, as well). With this is mind, and noticing that you began a Percussion:Portal, I was wondering if you would be interested in beginning a percussion Wikiproject. I've tried starting this up before, but it never seemed to have a lot of support. With your article-writing skills and dedication to the project, I believe we could go far. Other users that would possibly be interested would be User:Brad Halls and User:Flamurai, though Flamurai seems to have been pretty inactive for about a year. Anyway, if you're interested in this, we can either start it directly, or propose on the proposals board --Evan ¤ Seeds 18:09, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

As is turns out, I proposed this project (actually a workgroup for WikiProject Music) way back in December, but it hasn't received any attention (boo hoo) since that time. But I definitely was (and still am) interested in the prospect. However, I'm not sure if a fully-fledged WikiProject is needed, perhaps just a sub-project of musical instruments (which is actually pretty much inactive, so far as I can tell), so maybe not. Perhaps we should set up a trial run in my userspace, so that you, me, and the (possibly) other interested people can start to work, without the hassle of setting up something in the Wikipedia namespace and have it speedily userfied. Kakofonous (talk) 18:19, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay…a rough, rough trial is ready for editing at User:Kakofonous/WikiProject Percussion. Kakofonous (talk) 18:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I thought I had proposed a project quite a while ago, though I can't find it in the archives. Maybe I just never fully proposed it, though i did suggest it here. I've done a bit of editing to your subpage. The one thing I wonder is, if we're including percussionists (which we should), are we including drummers? If so, we need to consider whether or not to include jazz drummers, rock drummers, pop drummers, etc. --Evan ¤ Seeds 18:56, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I always thought of a drummer as a type of percussionist, so I'd say yes. Kakofonous (talk) 19:04, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree. But there no doubt that that will be a make this a much larger wikiproject. Not that that's a bad thing, of course. --Evan ¤ Seeds 19:10, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

←For the record, I've changed Template:Percussion to a navbox, as suggested on the emporary wikiproject page. --Evan ¤ Seeds 20:03, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks…that was quick :). Kakofonous (talk) 20:05, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I've also gone through and put {{Percussion}} on every instrument linked to on the navbox. --Evan ¤ Seeds 00:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks…grunt work is never fun. I was thinking: this conversation is getting pretty long—should I move it to the talk page of the WikiProject or just leave it here? Kakofonous (talk) 00:46, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Need your review (article about vocal jazz ensemble)

Please, comment this article: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/A'Cappella_ExpreSSS Your review's strongly appreciated, as you're experienced wikipedian and also a musician.

Regards, Basilex (talk 04:04, 18 February 2008)

Kakofonous: thank you for your review, I will follow your recomendations. Is it OK that a large portion of the references is taken from their own website? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.21.137.115 (talk) 18:37, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, definitely not ' the only', but about a half of the links. Basilex (talk 23:08, 19 February 2008)
And yes, I even can take same info from other sites, but the problem is that it is usually copypasted directly from the group's press-release. So, I think, it is more correct to cite the original source of info. P.S. Is it correct to paste few refs (confirming _different_ facts) to the same article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.21.137.115 (talk) 20:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, I think I didn't write it clear enough... I didn't mean " confirm one fact by few articles ", but "confirm few facts by the same article" (and paste references to the same magazine article in different parts of my wikirticle). Is it correct to do so? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.21.137.115 (talk) 20:40, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes

I'd like to participate. Just keep me updated. Badagnani (talk) 04:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

At this stage, I guess the most useful things you can do are: adding anything you see fit to the project page, recruiting new members (if you feel like it), and working, like you often do, on articles within the scope of the project. Thanks for your support! Kakofonous (talk) 05:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
This goes for Brad Halls too. First time I've been edit conflicted on my own talk page. Kakofonous (talk) 05:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Percussion

Sure, I'd be interested. Thanks, Brad Halls (talk) 05:02, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Care in the use of the rollback tool

Hi, can I ask that when you use the rollback tool that you check that the version that you are reverting to is not a vandalised page, please? Take this edit, for example. Whilst I cannot prove conclusively that there wasn't a school here in 467BC, it does seem rather unlikely. :-) BlueValour (talk) 20:51, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for such a quick review! Best, Happyme22 (talk) 04:38, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Re:Your user name

Ah, that clears that up :). Great choice for username! I'm unfamiliar with that particular book, but it strikes me as very interesting. Next time I'm at a library, I'll look for it as I'm sure I would enjoy it as would my young son. Thanks! Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 22:23, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello Kako. Thanks for the Barnstar and for always backing me up with your copyedits. Cheers! --Efe (talk) 00:53, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

GAonHold vs. GAOnHold

Indeed. Maybe the GAC page one could be moved to ReviewHeld or something close? VanTucky 02:32, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so, trying couldn't hurt (this is a wiki, after all). VanTucky 02:42, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Timpani as colloboration of the month

Hey, I recently posted a comment on the Timpani talk page about a to-do list for the article. There's currently one on the talk page, but hasn't been updated since sometime in '06. As you have a lot more experience than I do with the GA and FA process, as well as article writing in general and as someone who working on the CotM (good job on all those refs, btw), I was wondering if you could update the to-do list with information on how to improve the article for those of us, like myself, who aren't so experienced at article writing. Perhaps some grunt work or clean-up, etc. Thanks, --Evan ¤ Seeds 03:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

How much more work do you think needs to be done until we put it up for GAC? I'm willing to work, especially this coming week. Not much in school, you know --Evan ¤ Seeds 23:38, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I think quite a bit more work needs to be done—the amount of refs needs to go way up, to start with. I just got a good book to use as a reference, and am expecting to get another, so that should get going soon. Also, would you mind doing some work on the rudiment draft? I just haven't gotten around to it. Schoolwork is light, eh? Our vacation ends as of tomorrow :( Kakofonous (talk) 23:50, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I'll take a look at the draft tonight when I'm actually planning on editing. I also left a note on User:Brad Hall's talk page, but it seems that his last edit was to add his name to our member list. --Evan ¤ Seeds 00:02, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Your message

Thanks for informing me. I forgot to put "User" before the page. I have tagged the redirect for speedy. Thanks. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 16:33, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

GA nomination for Solaris

Peer review

As you've listed yourself on WP:PRV as being interested in classical and jazz music, I wondered if you might like to take a look at Wikipedia:Peer review/Saxophone/archive1 and Wikipedia:Peer review/Alto saxophone/archive1. Many thanks in advance, Happymelon 20:02, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

GA Nomination of American Graffiti

Thanks for reviewing the article. However, could you explain why a second apostrophe is needed? English isn't really a first language for me, and I'm curious. Also, what does "standard fashion" mean for references? Wildroot (talk) 13:21, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

In answer to your first question, there are only a few words in the English language that end with "S" where a singular possessive form of the word does not use the apostrophe-S construction (examples being Jesus -> Jesus', Ramses -> Ramses', and a few more that I can't come up with right now). In all other cases, as with Lucas, the correct form would be (using Lucas as an example) Lucas -> Lucas's. And just ignore the "standard fashion" comment. Upon further review, I think I just meant that the page ranges needed en dashes. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Cheers, Kakofonous (talk) 20:34, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm almost done with that article. However, I have to go back to school, then I'll do another copy edit/format run-through. Then I think it will be ready. Once again, thanks for reviewing. Wildroot 11:23, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Okay, now I think it's ready for GA status. What do you think? Wildroot 16:25, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

GA review: Kim Ki-young

Thanks for the feedback, Kakofonous. The inline citations will be no problem, and the NPOV concern shouldn't be much of a hang-up. I'll try to have it done by tomorrow morning. Cheers! Dekkappai (talk) 21:53, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Changes made-- let me know if more work needs to be done. Dekkappai (talk) 16:59, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, Kakofonous! This is, I believe, the first Korean-cinema related GA. Thanks for the review, and for the suggestions which helped improve the article. Cheers! Dekkappai (talk) 22:30, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

:-)

Hey, quick note to say I appreciated the review you left at WP:Editor review/Tiptoety, very thorough and clueful I thought. Thanks for helping out there, lord knows it needs it. Peace, delldot on a public computer talk 05:51, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

You must have the wrong user. It doesn't look like Kakaofonous left a review there. Enigma msg! 22:36, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
I did leave some notes on one of Tiptoety's reviews, but not that particular one. It was the last one that they went up for before the most recent RfA. Oh, and thanks for the compliment! Kakofonous (talk) 22:40, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
D'oh! At least I'm not losing my mind. ;) BTW, you may want to look at your user page history and decide if you want to do something about the vandalism from 86.165.195.180. Peace, delldot talk 00:49, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Bit strange, dunno why they'd want to vandalize my user page as I don't think I ever warned or otherwise communicated with them…but I don't think it applies for oversight. It was reverted in the same minute as it was written (thanks, by the way), and I don't need to bother oversighters with this kind of thing. Kakofonous (talk) 00:58, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Cool, cool. Glad I didn't just go ahead then. I think real name or personal info in general qualifies, especially for a minor (or a talented youth ;]) but it's up to you (personally I don't care who knows my real name). Another option would be to delete that revision selectively, which would be no trouble at all, I'd be glad to do it if you want. I know what you mean about the talk page thing, I never know what to do either. But I absolutely suck at watching other people's talk pages, so gimme a poke if you ever reply here and I don't get back to you. Peace, delldot talk 01:08, 26 February 2008 (UTC) Way to bring more attention to the vandalism than it would otherwise get, delldot. Feel free to remove this post because of that, Kakofonous
