Nasrollah-Khamenei Terror picture

You can not delete a pic without reading or getting involved into a discussion on accuracy of the pic. I strongly recommend to you to read the discussion page before deleting the pictures anymore. Otherwise I have to report you to Wiki admins. --Kaaveh 11:12, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Take it easy my friend. First of all I am not deleting the pic, I simply point out that there are problems with its copyright. If I am wrong it will be solved. As explained on the talk page of the image, it is not free simply because it exists on the internet. Good editing. Khodahafez Bertilvidet 11:15, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Regarding Nasrallah-Khamenei pic

Hello Thomas and thank you for your help. Just wondering if now the pic is good to be on the Wiki and I didn't underestand what it says here: "This tag must be used in conjunction with another fair use image tag. If no other tag is present on this page, and this image was uploaded after May 19, 2005, please speedily delete this image." can you explain? --Kaaveh 19:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeah the pic is ok to be used now :D, basically you should notice there are 2 tags. THe bottom one is the one you mention that identifies the fact that the copyright holder has allowed the use of the image under certain conditions - in this case if the name of the agency is mentioned as the source. It must however be used with another tag that identifies the exact parameters of it's use - in this case it would be fair to use this image on articles related to hezbollah or it's leadership. The top tag identifies this and notes which articles it is used on. --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 18:28, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Blocking on persian wikipedia

I'll discuss your case with Shervin and other administrators. You made a mistake on that page by removing {{fact}}. Shervin had checked all Resources on that article and didn't find some facts. So noting WP:V are responsible and you should not remove tag till you refer to exact line and paragraph on your source. I'll try to decrease your blocking period. ‍Hessam 08:38, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

that's cool. thanks in advance --Kaaveh 00:34, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you.

Ghadiani.jpg

Hi. I stumbled upon the Ahmadiyya article, and noticed that its Farsi version was a featured article. Though I can't understand Farsi at all, I noticed that you had uploaded an image fa:Image:Ghadiani.jpg with what I think is a PD license ( مالکیت عمومی) I can't read the image caption though. Is this a random-looking Ahmadi shown for some specific purpose? Is it a leader of the movement? Thanks! (If you could reply on my talk page, I'd appreciate it) :-) --Storkk 12:04, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

To save you time, the caption is: میرزا غلام احمد، بنیانگزار فرقه احمدیه Cheers! Storkk 12:06, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi, Mirza Golam Ahmad was the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement and so we put his picture which was very relevant to the topic.--Kaaveh 19:02, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I've also added it to Ahmadi. Cheers, Storkk 16:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey Kaaveh, are you sure the Bahá'u'lláh article on the Persian Wikipedia is featured. It seems that there is a tag on the page stating that it should be cleaned up, which is usually not the case for featured articles. Regards, -- Jeff3000 22:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey Jeff, as you might know I am an active Persian Wikipedian. Therefore I am very familiar to what's going on in there. Unfortunatly in Persian Wikipedia, there are some fundimentalists who hate anything that sounds anti-mullah or in contrast of their Shia ideology of Islam and therefore their ideology makes them a "Baha'i hater" as well as many other subjects. Those so called "Basijis" usually fight over every sentence and word in this kind of situations. So obviousely they can put whatever tag that they want, but the article will be there. As far as I know the tag says the article needs to be cleaned up and nothing too important. --Kaaveh 15:53, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering why you reduced the size of the Xerxes film image in the article?Arcayne 19:53, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I asked the question before figuring out that you were formatting the pic to correspond with the same photo of Xerxes that you have been trying unsuccessfully to add. The picture you wish to add is not germane to the article, as it is about the film, and not what Xerxes looked like. Perhaps you should include both the film picture and the picture you would like to add to the Xerxes I article. I hope that helps explain why it keeps getting removed. Arcayne 20:04, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi Arcayne, it's alright, but regarding to the picture of Xerxes I in the article 300, I think it is totally appropriate since the Persians outcry the depiction of Xerxes I in the film 300. --Kaaveh 21:09, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
I can appreciate your feelings, but the movie is not about how Xerxes was protrayed differently. take a look at the Political Ascpects and Depictions of Persians sections of the article. If you feel they don't go far enough, bring your concerns and cited changes to the Discussion area. Reverts that aren't agreed upon usually get reverted right away. You don't want to build a reputation as someone who pushed a particular point of view - such people can never be trusted, either in Wikipedia or in the Real World. Arcayne 13:46, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Please take a look at History of fundamentalist Islam in Iran. I am happy that the article attracted a few critical editors. The more people take part the less chance will be for POV. I hope people with different background edit this article. Thanks and take care.Sina Kardar 14:09, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Persian Pride - tag warning

A tag has been placed on Persian Pride (Gang), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kim dent brown 14:47, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Help requested at fa

Hi, I have a lot of foreign wiki accounts, as I sometimes add images or interwiki links (or remove broken ones). Today, I registered an account at fa. I don't even know what language that is! I got into some kind of mess because I was trying to create my user page, and accidentally created the article ElinorD instead. I had been trying to add an intewiki link for fa to my English userpage, and found it didn't work. I couldn't figure out which bits were supposed to be inside the brackets, and which way the brackets were supposed to go. The text in the edit box kept jumping around when I tried to edit it. That never happens with other languages. Eventually, I had bits of foreign letters on both sides of the brackets, and tried deleting one side, and then the other. I finally figured out what to do, but in the meantime, I had my English userpage linking to a non-existent article ElinorD at fa, and I went ahead and created the fa page without realising that it wasn't a userpage.

I tried {{db}} in preview at fa, to see if there was such a template, and there wasn't. I went to db at English Wikipedia, to look for a fa interwiki link, and there was none. Then I tried a Babel box for English speakers in preview, and that brought me to the category, which brought me to your userpage at fa, which brought me here.

Could you please ask an administrator at fa to delete the article ElinorD? Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you. ElinorD (talk) 17:23, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

I fogot to give you a link. For some reason, I can't open this article that I accidentally created, but here are my contributions:
http://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D9%88%DB%8C%DA%98%D9%87:Contributions/ElinorD

Thanks again. ElinorD (talk) 17:28, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

I've left a message on your discussion page. Best Regards. --Kaaveh 17:40, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I appreciate your offer of translating, but I doubt if I'll be using that account more than once every three months, so I don't think the community will really get to know me, regardless of language. I don't really want a userpage, except maybe to say that I speak English and don't speak Persian. (Good to know that fa is Persian, by the way, and pardon my ignorance!) The userpage I created just has interwiki links. I have set my preferences so that all options appear in English now, and that helps. You say that the page I accidentally created has been deleted. I can't find any sign of that in the logs, and it still shows in the history of my contributions, but the link can't be clicked on. Anyway, I won't worry about it. I have more to do at en. Thanks again. ElinorD (talk) 17:52, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
No problem at all. But I would strongly suggest that at least in your Persian userpage add a sentence and let them know you only speak english and you are active in English wiki primarly. By the way, if you need any help with Persian Wikipedia, you have a friend to count on.

Best Regards: --Kaaveh 17:58, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Okay, thanks, I've added babel userboxes. Thanks again for your kindness. ElinorD (talk) 18:03, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Shirin ebadi's memoir.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Shirin ebadi's memoir.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:49, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

The Second Lebanese War

Hi, I'm replying here rather than in my Hebrew talk page, because I'm having some troubles writing in wiki-he today (it's a long story, better not get into it).

First of all, it should be known that about half of the Galilee population is Arab or Arabic speaking. The main Arab city in Israel is Nazareth and it is located in the heart of the Galilee. Since Hezbollah rockets targeted whole Galilee region, it is only logical that many Arab Israelis were among the casulties.

This is a list of the Israeli casualties as reported on the Israeli website Ynet [2]. This site chose to list soldiers and civilians together, and doesn't distinguish Jews from Arabs, however you can easily spot the Arab names and the Arab towns and villages. In fact, one of the first Israeli civilians wounded in the Hezbollah bombardment of northern Israel on July 12 was Arab: "Ashkar Taliaa, 34, was renovating a house in the village of Shtula when he was wounded by mortar shrapnel." [3]

About launching rockets from Lebanese civilian areas, you have this page: [4], but since it is part of the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs, its credability might be questionned as having specific agenda. I hope this information helps. DrorK 13:02, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I've nominated this article for deletion as it is unsourced and the individual has no Google hits thus his notability is in question. If you want to participate in the discussion and provide us some sources/information on how/why he is notable, please join the discussion. This is a case that I am more than willing to reconsider my nomination if independent notability can be established for Mahmoud Ghorbani. I'm posting this on your talk page to ensure that you see it, I don't want the article to be deleted without your getting a chance to defend it.Balloonman 18:22, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Shirin ebadi's memoir.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Shirin ebadi's memoir.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:36, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I'll fixed the problem. Thanks! --Kaaveh 02:12, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Seddigh.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Seddigh.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Picaroon (Talk) 02:20, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Silvia Lancome

A tag has been placed on Silvia Lancome, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
