K V Venkataramana is a poet, reviewer, author and writer from India. He hails from Sullia, Karnataka.
Early life
Kalkala Vadyappa Venkataramana is a former Deputy Chief Officer of Syndicate Bank. He is also a well-known poet, orator, soft-skills trainer, author, writer, translator and reviewer. He was born at Kalkala, Kodimbala village, Puttur taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka, on 2-6-1951. His parents were Kalkala Vadyappa Gowda and Smt. K.V. Poovamma. Venkataramana had his early education at Vidyabodhini Higher Primary School, Balila and Board Higher Secondary school, Bellare, and college education at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore and College of Agriculture, Dharwad. He finished his B.Sc.,(Agri) in 1971. During his college days, he won several prizes in elocution and essay contests at varsity level and won second place in the All India Agricultural Universities declamation contest held at Punjab Agriculutural University, Ludhiana in 1970. In 1969, he had represented his University (University of Agricultural Sciences, Hebbal, Bangalore), at the National Integration conference of National Integration Samitis and Universities held at IARI, New Delhi.
Career
Venkataramana had served in Syndicate Bank for more than 28 years in different places and capacities including as Deputy Chief Officer (Training) and took voluntary retirement in 2001. After his retirement, he has been engaged as a freelance HRD and Soft Skills Trainer for employees of Banks, Railways, Insurance Companies, Management Institutions, Engineering colleges, Industries, State Govt.departments, Central Government departments, BSNL, etc. in Karnataka, Kerala, Goa & Maharashtra. He has also conducted ELE workshops for IT employees.
Dr K.V. Venkataramana is the author of seven poetry volumes and two books of translation (from Kannada to English). His poems have been published in various magazines, journals and anthologies in India and abroad. His poetic career began in 1971 when his very first poem “By the River’ appeared in Mirror (Bombay) while he was still in college. This encouraged him to continue writing poems on various themes like Nature, man and God, with youthful fervour.
Venkataramana’s poems have been recited over All India Radio, Mangalore, besides being translated into French, Korean Thai, Hindi and Kannada. His achievements have been listed in the Directories published by the American Biographical Institute (ABI), North Carolina, USA, and the International Biographical Centre (IBC), Cambridge, England.
Venkataramana is a man of universal outlook, and his concern for his fellow-beings and all other things that make up this universe is clearly reflected in his poetry. Most of his poems have a mystical aura around them.
Venkataramana also writes articles and reviews for newspapers and journals.

Received Outstanding Young Person Award from Manipal Jaycees in 1987 at district level. 7. Achievements listed in American Biographical Institute’s ‘International Directory of Distinguished Young Leadership’ (1987). 8. Contributed articles on training to THE INDIAN EXPRESS. 9. Contributed articles and poems to more than 40 leading journals / newspapers and websites. 10. Author 7 poetry books in English and two books of translation. His latest anthology SUNLIGHT AND CIRCUMSTANCE (Collected Poems) was published by KDP Amazon in eBook and paperback formats in January, 2017.
