Early life

Debora BUBA FEZA KAYEMBE, was born KAYEMBE FEZA MAKOYO , ELISABETH . Her ancestry includes Namibia, Zambia and Congolese. Miss Kayembe was raised by her Aunt Theresa Shweka younger sister of her biological Father. Miss Kayembe has little contact with her biological syblings as she spent most her life with the Shweka family. Debora has never attend kindergarten school and attended private education. She started primary school in the Bas-Congo when she went on living with her Aunt family. she finishes primary school in Kinshasa at Ecole Massamba , when her Aunt family move in the Congolese Capital, she attended the faculty of law at UNIVERSITE LIBRE DE KINSHASA, a private university in the heart of 15 street Limete.

Career

Debora begin a professional career as an intern at the Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA in Kinshasa. she then join the Congolese Bar in 2000. her last job in the Congo was Special envoy for the Congolese commission of Human Right. Since moving in Britain Debora work as a freelance Interpreter and pursuit her re-qualification route as a solicitor in Scotland.

She is admitted on the two list of freelance Interpreter and Lawyer at the International Criminal Court at the Hague.

Personal life

3.1 Family

Debora is the 7th child of her large biological family of 21 children including 5 stepmothers. Both her biological parents are death;her Mother died from breast Cancer and her father died while she was seeking asylum in Britain ,she did not have to go to the Congo for the funeral. She was raised by her aunt family which was a family of 8 children including Debora. Debora describe living with her adoptive family has being raised strictly and was lucky to have parents who cares about her need to be educated and had made huge sacrifices for her.

3.2 Relationships

Debora is divorced from her marriage of 4 years in which she had two children. Her Daughter Sophie Fortune and Son Ian Fortune. She describe the marriage being a very unhappy and she describe herself as survivor of domestic violence. She filed and was granted a divorce by a Scottish Court from her husband six years after their separation in 2013, and was granted full custody of the children. She is a happy single mum.

3.3 Health Issues

Debora was a very poorly child almost in hospital every 6 month. she suffered a great loss in her family to HIV/ AIDS, Diabetes, Cancer and Meningitis because of a very poor level of medical care in the Congo. Debora's mother died at aged 51 from breast cancer without any morphine available to ease her pain. she was diagnosed with hepatitis C more than 15 years ago, and she is grateful to Britain of saving her life. More health troubles occur in 2013 were Debora needed to make a decision whether she will need to consider having an hysterectomy and mastectomy in the years to came.

Political Views

Debora describe herself as a socialist and internationalist. she is an member of the Scottish socialist party and a sympathizer of the English Labour Party. Debora attend the Scottish Socialist party for the first time, during the referendum debate.she was asked to make a presentation about the Democratic Republic of the Congo Independence in 1960 at the SSP lothian branch in Edinburgh.

Awards

Honouring the 100 years of the International Women's day on the 8th of March 2011 , Women's voice Blackburn and the Blackburn with Darwen NHS Awarded to DEBORA KAYEMBE, a certificate in celebration of her achievements to the people of Blackburn with Darwen.

Religion

Miss Kayembe was raised Catholic, but her biological family has a long standing attachment to Protestantism. At aged 14 , Debora discovered life in Jesus - Christ and has been born again. She identified herself has devoted Pentecostal. She attended L eglise de la Borne in the Republic democratic of Congo , where she was baptized by immersion at aged 17. The name < Debora> was given to her at aged 21 by a Pastor. Miss Kayembe consider herself being fortunate to have know Jesus Christ at young age which preserved her to end up in drugs and alcohol use like many of young man and women in her entourage and her family. she is always grateful to God for being on her side in the most challenging moment of her life by providing the appropriate support around her.

Miss Kayembe is tolerant of other religion and she has friends from various religious beliefs. She is trying her best to give an Christian upbringing to her children because she believe that being on God side , will make them better persons and what she is not capable to teach them ; they will get wisdom from the Bible. As Pentecostal believer , Miss Kayembe had her two children being baptised and becoming member of the United Reform Methodist church in the Blackburn with Darwen, the town where they where born.

Human Rights Activism

Debora start has Human Right activism's on the first year at UNIVERSITE LIBRE DE KINSHASA, as a defender of student right and with the Association chretienne semeur. She join the Congolese civil society the following year and work alongside with the Comite droit de l homme maintenant thought < toges noires >. she then move to Matadi , where she was taking part to the program to became a Barrister , she worked with FPSD, taking Barristers from the Bas-Congo to protest in the street ( the 1st ever in the Congolese history) , after a young barrister was lynched by a military while performing his duties to his client.

Since settled in the United Kingdom, Debora campaign for refugees Rights, children in needs and Violence against Women with the Scottish Refugee Council and the Refugee Women's Strategy Group. With the Scottish refugee council , she advocates by the refugee speaker program featured by conferences and talks trough universities, colleges, schools, clubs;political parties; Human Rights organisations, making presentation in the issues of refugee in the UK. she play a major role during the Scottish referendum for Independence by staying neutral about the YES or No vote ; stating that refugee matter should stay in the political agenda whether Scotland is independent or not.

In Children matter, Miss Kayembe is a contributor of Action for sick children Scotland and the NSPCC. Miss Kayembe has chosen to support theses two organisations because of the matter which these organisations are promoting play a major role in her life ; has a mother and during her childhood ; which she describe being very strict and full of traumatic events.

Memberships

In August 2000, Debora was accepted as an intern lawyer at the Congolese Bar, then was qualified as a Barrister on the 13th of September 2002, she was omitted from the BAR following her departure from the Democratic Republic of in Mai 2004.

Since July 2010, Debora is a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.

In April 2014, she was invited to join the Refugee Women's Strategy Group in Glasgow, which she affiliated on the 14 July 2014.

In August 2014, she join the Women's international league for Peace and Freedom.

In August 2014, she join the Scottish socialist party and was appointed Chair of Edinburgh south in February 2015.
