re Montreal diversity pie chart
Hello. The graph says "Canada Census 2006" on its title and has a link to the census webpage from which the data was from on its file description. TehranIran (talk) 01:46, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I fixed it now. Thank you for pointing it out. TehranIran (talk) 22:20, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Logos to commons
I understand the Best Buy logo, although I thought that too was some sort of geometric shape. Some of the other logos, like the Circuit City logo I think are completely free use. Its is simply a circle and text. The text isn't sylized whatsoever and the circle isn't unique, its just a red circle. I'm gonna post some of those like you said. Sorry didn't mean to cause any trouble was trying to help. Thanks for the help tho in how to post those, I did not know that. Ejfetters (talk) 06:34, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
BLP concerns
I'm interested in BLP issues as an area of priority concern to WP, so persuant to your begging and pleading (heh heh) I've added Carly Fiorina to my Watchlist. I'm quickly becoming familiar with the types of problems that routinely crop up in the BLPs of public or controversial figures, and I'll watch this one to help assure that any future changes comply with policy. It's not much, but I hope it helps :) Doc Tropics 21:43, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Regarding ANI discussions
If you beleive there are serious concerns that need to be discussed, feel free to just start another thread which does not devolve into a general rant. Try to be concise and keep to the matter at hand. If there are BLP concerns with the Carly Fiorina article specifically, then perhaps a thread at WP:BLP/N where you carefully outline the stuff you believe needs to be excised would be more appropriate. IF you want to discuss changes to the BLP policy, then the talk page of WP:BLP OR The Village Pump Policy Page may also be more appropriate. I have no problem with a dispassionate discussion of the issues at hand, but the post you left at ANI was not particularly helpful or appropriate. --Jayron32 17:53, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have tried multiple times, both at wp:an/i and at wp:blp/n, to enlist administrators to keep the article on their watchlist and to consider helping mediate on the talk page. The only administrator who did attempt to assist was repeatedly attacked on his talk page for doing so and has yet to return. At this point, I don't know of any other way to express my concerns that convey the sincerity and passion the issue deserves: it's someone life we're allowing to be framed here. It's why the Foundation put forward such a notable Resolution. It's why wp:blp exists, and why special sanctions and enforcement were put forward...
- Yet venues for convincing administrators to roll up their sleeves and stick around don't exist, and watchlist coverage of controversial but not incredibly widespread wp:blps like Carly Fiorina are incredibly vulnerable regardless. The issue is when someone, like Carly Fiorina, decides to run for a Senate seat, in a contest already projected to be the most expensive in the upcoming elections, we end up getting caught with our pants down here at Wikipedia because we just don't have effective and thorough procedures surrounding wp:blp in place. Like what happened with Sarah Palin, coincidentally. I've expressed this time and again, and my post at wp:an/i was the best I could do to convey what I believed to be the seriousness of the issue. As I said, I don't know any other way to put it. user:J aka justen (talk) 18:04, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm supposing you reverted my comment because you thought it was a bit much. Be that as it may, your hypothesis that Rcvx was a sock has been demonstrated to be true, and he's been indef'd. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 02:12, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- Now, now; don't pile on him, guys. It's tough being the tenth letter of the alphabet. HalfShadow 02:18, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- I guess I just thought he would be somewhat happy or at least vindicated about the outcome, given that he had it nailed. Otherwise, I've been waiting for a chance to use that "Color him gone" joke. A little obscure, I realize, especially since the "My Coloring Book" article doesn't discuss the lyrics as such. But the last line of that old, sad song is, "Color him gone". So now it all makes sense, ja? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 02:24, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

- Bugs, I'm so sorry. I just got home and noticed your message, and in my head I was thinking "What on earth is he talking about?" Then I remembered checking my watchlist on my phone a few minutes ago... I must have somehow managed to accidentally click undo, and for that I am so sorry. It wasn't intentional at all, and not I'm horrified to check my watchlist on my phone ever again. I really am sorry, and I'm going to go bang my head against the wall now for what was the biggest clusteryouknowwhat of a Monday in my wikiexistence. user:J aka justen (talk) 02:47, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- Apology accepted, and not needed. :) I figured you misunderstood my obscure comment. Unfortunately, they've unblocked the guy now, so we're back at Ground Zero, it seems. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 02:48, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- I actually hadn't been paying attention to that other thread. As to that other matter... Yeah, I don't know what to say about it, and I'm actually biting my tongue on the matter... Sorry, again, though, for the unintentional undo. user:J aka justen (talk) 02:54, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
