Hi

In relation to these title cards:

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Image:NewsTitles-OneNews.png

The last title card (satellite dish) should be labelled "2006" because that was the first year the satellite animation was used. It was used from Jan 2006 ending in February 2008 with the release of the current titles (glass panes falling on to shiny globe).

Cheers

Orphaned non-free image (File:NewsTitles-OneNetworkNews.png)

Thanks for uploading File:Winchicagodesktop.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Neil Billington

[edit]

I notice that you have contributed substantially to the article on ONE News, and your edits are generally of high quality. However, in an edit during July 2008 you mention that Billington passed away in 1987. In this week's Listener, Bill Ralston mentions that article and points out that Billington is still alive, and someone from a TVNZ IP address fixed the article about a week ago. This is rather embarrassing for Wikipedia. I realise your edit was a long time ago, but could you please check your facts more carefully for future edits. Ideally, everything you add to Wikipedia should include a reference to a reliable source.-gadfium 22:21, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ONE News, fair use images, and user created montages

[edit]

This article contains fair use images in tabular/gallery format. Per WP:NFG, the use of fair use images in this manner is rarely permitted, and this case clearly fails. WP:NFCC, on which WP:NFG is based, has a clause regarding significance. The mere display of non-free content rarely qualifies as significant use. If any of these images had significant historical value reported on by secondary sources (not from the station itself), then there would be a case to include that image. But, including this broad array of fair use images to show the cast lineup over time and the logo lineup over time is not supported. Also, the creation of montages by users does not reduce the amount of fair use images in use. So far example, File:NewsTitles-OneNetworkNews2.png is, for this purpose, 3 images as opposed to 1. I'm removing the galleries from the article and tagging the images as orphaned (as they will be). If you have concerns about this, you can ask me or post to WT:NFC and someone there can assist you.
